House OKs rescue for homeowners, Freddie, Fannie

laffinatlibs, you have got to be kidding!! With all that has happened on Wall Street, in the war on Iraq, on the lies around Valerie Plame's outing, that the Republicans can still claim it adheres to personal responsibility!!! Incompetence flows from every govt agency that has Bush appointees-but no firings.
Bush was going to fire the perpetrator of the Valerie Plame exposure to the press--but oh no, not this president. With Obama there is hope that good governance will restore responsibility and integrity to government agencies. How can anyone believe in or trust anything this administration says.

WHAT BOTHERS ME about the bail out, is the purchase of FM and FM's stock--I can see the speculators and carpetbaggers having a field day with that one. Senator Jim Webb said that the US government is not allowed to purchase stock in the Market because "it may interfere with the market place". That's one of the reasons he is suspicious of "Sovereign Wealth Funds". posted 07/23/2008 at 14:27:45

Obama Snubbed Fox News On Trip Abroad

I don't watch FOX NEWS and I discourage anyone from quoting it in conversation. The Merdoch toy does a great disservice to the American public and to freedom of the press.

Anderson Cooper is the closest I get to the days of reliable information when Huntley and Brinkley and Walter Cronkite were regulars. I watched them during the Vietnam coverage. If either was wrong, I wrote and got a response. I want my country to once again be served by a "principled" media. The United States must have "truth" in order to lead. posted 07/23/2008 at 15:23:07

An Outrageous Attempt by the Bush Administration to Undermine Women's Rights

This kind of nonsense drives me crazy!! Our country is in trouble, and you talk about voting GREEN!! That's what they did in FL in 2000 and look what it got us!! You and I owe it to our children and grandchildren to give them better. OBAMA is "hope" and he is "truth" and he is the new beginning out of the clouds and maze of the lies behind Regan's Trickle Down economics and the Republican lies about compassionate conservatism.

Hillary would be a great Senate Majority leader. These new regulations are surfacing at a time to "rally the Republican Right" to help John McCain. Its another Rovian plot to "win" the White House. Has anyone read "The Appeal"--it is part of the Republican playbook. It is right to protest these birth control rules. In North Dakota -they will have a issue on the ballot to ban abortion (except in cases -----) But it is also, prudent to be mindful of the endgame. Soundly defeat McCain, send the Republican incompetents home and muffle the "right wing" . THAT's what this election means!! posted 07/23/2008 at 14:57:54

What Jesse Jackson Said Was A-OK

What Jesse Jackson seemed to be saying was that Barack Obam is not "black enough". And that tells me, that Obama is reaching the people of the US across all spectrums and that is a good thing. posted 07/10/2008 at 14:15:15

Gen. Clark and That POW Thing McCain Hates Talking About

As US Senator and member of the armed services committee when the Repubs were in power John had little or no influence. He allowed the military to deteriorate under his watch. And he voted with Bush to take the troops to war in Iraq, but did nothing to assure that the soldiers were well equipped.

He stayed silent as Cheney spouted off about the "lean, mean army machine" and knew or failed to understand that the men and women were going into battle ill equipped and undermanned to stay the course. So what is it that John McCain learned as a Prisoner of War that qualifies him for leadership?
When he had the opportunity to question inept leadership he remained quiet. Does that mean he doesn't know the difference?

The only time McCain stood up was when the Abu Ghraib pictures surfaced and the question about the definition of torture arose. As a member of the Armed services committee he did nothing to prevent civilian contractors from continuing their participation in the the violations of the Geneva conventions and little influence of the misguided behavior by the Bush Administration.

Sorry, John had the opportunity to lead and failed to act. posted 07/02/2008 at 15:31:12
I am concerned about the emotional issues. My brother served in NAM. Did McCain really try to commit suicide twice during his captivity as indicated by Maureen Dowd in her column today? posted 07/02/2008 at 15:15:54

Clear Channel Bans Ads For Harry Shearer's CD Over Anti-Bush Image

This is the right path. Break up Clear Channel, it has too much power in the media.
Maybe with a new president? A new FCC could help a long way to restoring balance in the media.
I don't get the bone through the nose! Wouldn't buy the CD anyway. posted 06/27/2008 at 15:56:11
