Justice Department Considers Racial Profiling For Terror Prevention

You're actually comparing people who can't drive with someone who may smuggle in a nuclear or biological weapon? I don't think I'll listen to you, Heidi. Others here have better points. Personally, I think the idea of "profiling" as being some kind of "evil" is ridiculous - people "profile" every minute of every day. It's human nature, and to deny it is a joke you're playing on yourself. The goal is to try to rise above it, but it is still a human instinct which usually pans out. In fact, I bet you're profiling ME right now, just like I profiled you as a wuss (but I could be wrong, and that's what I always try to remember). So until there is the inevitable Islamic Reformation which states once and for all that killing innocent people is against the will of Allah and will NOT result in paradise or praise, then profile away! Dogmatic religion, once again, is the real problem. posted 07/03/2008 at 12:24:11

Supreme Court Upholds Right To Own Guns For Self-Defense

It's the bullets that should be controlled - each one having a unique serial number which can be traced back to the buyer/seller.
Was it Chris Rock's routine where if each bullet cost a thousand dollars, there'd be a WHOLE lot less handgun murders? posted 06/26/2008 at 15:08:33

McCain: World War III Would Justify Draft

Here's the HuffPost Headline: McCain In 2006: "We're In The Early Stages" Of World War III
The headline states that this is a McCain quote. It is not. This is a Gingrich quote, as the article states. I am really disappointed that my fellow Democrats are using the Republican-Rovian lie techniques. Haven't you learned anything? Nowhere in this article does McCain say he is prepping for WWIII.
The ignorance expressed here is mind-boggling. Please - don't lie. Don't mis-quote. Do not make things up. Sheep. You are all sheep. Whichever way the wind blows, you bend. Think for yourselves. Look it up. I didn't like the nasty comments made about Gore and Kerry (who I voted for) and I don't like the nasty comments about McCain (who I am not voting for). OK, now trash me for not following the party line. posted 06/25/2008 at 12:22:45

Obama's Foreign Policy Team Does Not Represent Change

When I saw the picture of Obama with a copy of The Post-American World by Fareed Zakaria, I was very encouraged. If it takes a few of the more experienced old-timers to make it happen, then I'm all for it. I was also very encouraged to hear he may add opponents to his cabinet, as Abe Lincoln did. I think your article is a bit naive. posted 06/19/2008 at 16:31:45

McCain Using Clinton's Line Of Attacks Against Obama

I'm not sure who "genuis" is, but how can it "obviously" carry more weight? With who? My point stands. If the Rev. Wright video came out this October rather than last spring, Mr. O would be FINISHED, and you know it. Remember "voodoo economics?" If not, look it up. If that didn't cause a problem for the guy who beat an incumbent president, I don't see any issue HC raised as being an issue here. Unless of course, YOU deep down feel there is an issue with experience???
McCain doesn't stand a chance right now - quit the Clinton bashing. Get ready to celebrate and stop hitting your own. posted 06/19/2008 at 16:03:30
And the Republicans would NEVER have figured out how to trash Obama on their own. In fact, I bet they would have just surrendered before the election. That evil Hillary.

Charlie Rose and His Iraq War Panel

You should watch Charlie Rose more. The "issues" you present have been discussed on other shows, and I have seen him go head-to-head with Bush apologists. Just your line "I caught a little of a panel discussion" says it all. Good job. Another great blog analysis. posted 06/18/2008 at 12:45:50

Texas GOP Pin Asks: "If Obama Is President, Will We Still Call It The White House?"

The vendor selling this should be drummed outta town. But, as always, here's the rest of the story:

"Not all of vendor's buttons in best of taste"
A number of speakers at the Texas Republican Convention have praised the historical significance of Barack Obama's candidacy, but at least one vendor hasn't gotten the message. A booth hosted by Republicanmarket was selling a pin Saturday that says: "If Obama is President will we still call it the White House?" Another pin didn't exactly espouse party unity: "I will hold my nose when I vote for McCain."

McCain: End Offshore Drilling Ban

35 years ago when I was pushing my car in the gas line on the "even" day, I would have laughed if you said in 2008 we'd still be oil whores. I was expecting a hydrogen economy by now, have been reading about it since 1985. Where's the leadership been? Went into somebody's pocket, I guess!

Hey, regardless, we need energy.

McCain Stacks Fox News 'Town Hall' With Supporters

Why is he a "hateful old man?" Your prior posts are FILLED with hate. Am I supposed to believe that YOU represent Obama, then? Would Obama want you as a rep? I don't think so. posted 06/13/2008 at 14:11:53
Why do you call him a "hateful old man?" Your past writings in your profile are FILLED with hateful comments. That's too bad. Is that part of the Obama platform? Would Obama want YOU as a rep for him? I don't think so. posted 06/13/2008 at 12:33:43

David Letterman: 'Dick Cheney Couldn't Care Less About Americans'

Wasn't that great? I was watching at home and stood up and applauded as he mimicked the oil companies counting out the dollar bills. FINALLY some one said it. All I ever saw in the future was Bush and Cheney taking big corporate jobs with huge salaries as a payoff for their "good" work in making these corporations richer than ever. posted 06/13/2008 at 12:54:42

GOP Operative Releases Obama Muslim Ad

Fascinating. Brutal. All the writings here on this board are intense.

Here's one fact you won't hear or see anywhere:

HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE. He is a rookie. An amateur. Means well, nice ideas, nice guy...no experience. Perhaps you can get a job at McDonalds with no experience, and perhaps I'd vote for a newbie for a town council position, but this is for President of the United States.

I don't care what religion he is - HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE.
I don't care what his nationality he is - HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE.
I don't care what his visions are - HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE.
I don't care who his reverend is - HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE.
I don't care how many books he's written - HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE.

That has always been the issue, but you never hear about it. Why not? posted 06/11/2008 at 16:08:36

Tom Brokaw Slams Press Drumbeat For Hillary's Exit: "Inappropriate", "Commentary Disguised As Reporting"

Excellent. I was particularly disgusted with Newsweek's promotion of Obama at Clinton's expense. One issue a little over a month or so ago was the most blatant : a picture of Obama looking presidential on Page 1, a similar picture on page 3, another picture on page 5, then finally a picture of Clinton 10 pages in - and it was a shot of her feet from behind where center focus was the 10-year-old kid YAWNING in the front row! Propaganda still works.
I felt the race was always close - certainly close enough that she HAD to stay in. Come on all you naifs out there: Muskie's "tears", Hart's bimbo, Eagleton's psych issue, Bush's supermarket-checkout, etc. - you just never know when it can turn. Your team's losing with a few minutes to play - do you give up? And she was a trooper till the end. Half the country voted for her.
The press should report the news, not make it and/or coerce it. Between excessive cable news and the blogs of bland, I trust nothing said by these yappers anymore.
Either way, Obama ran an amazing campaign, and I hope he does well. posted 06/09/2008 at 11:05:16

Clint Eastwood: Spike Lee Should "Shut His Face", Lee Responds, "We're Not On A Plantation"

But what's up with the "plantation" comment? Obama's about to be elected president and Spike's still using old-school taunts. I imagine old Clint has said shut-yer-face to a lotta people - Mr. Lee should be honored.
