Bio
I am a LifeLong Learner, Educator and proud Humanitarian, a Mother and Grandmother, a childhood long Army Brat who attended 12 very different schools in 12 years, achieving a B.A. (liberal ARTS) degree in chemistry as a graduate of a Catholic University, ... ... and more! All good, healthy and normal.
I taught middle school science for 14 years and love kids age 12-15. This population needs our love and attention like no other. One of my greatest joys was to see kids rekindle their love of science, a love all children share before starting school.
I worked as a volunteer for the Catholic Church Extension Society which collaborated with Saul Alinsky in Chicago 1968-1969. Yes, I was THERE THEN with HIM. I was assigned to support and advocate for migrant farm workers and their families, particularly young children. It was during this year that I was introduced to the teachings of Maria Montessori and fell in love. She was one of the first to notice that poor neglected children can learn. I spent the next 10 years teaching in Montessori schools and alternative educational programs for children who did not "fit the mold". My son and soon my grandson will have benefitted from this great lady's work. All of our precious future generations need the best education we can afford.
I am now retired and considering how I can continue to educate as a citizen leader, to use Newt's phrase. Like him, I want real solutions for real problems based on facts and evidence and far from political machinations. I want solutions that work for We the People in the real world of 21st century America. This is the CHANGE I believe in.
It's the path I believe my immigrant ancestors took, those brave souls who left the failed worlds of the kaiser and the king, and took on the challenge of living in a free and liberated world.
