Poll: Obama Leading In Colorado, But Race Is Tight

How in the world can the race be 'tight' in CO???

On one hand, you have an octogenarian who knows scant little about world affairs (i.e. Czechoslovakia ceased to exist over 15 years ago) and who loves to frivolously jest about killing innocent Iranian civilians (isn't that a wonderful topic for a prospective world leader?), and on the other hand you have a forward-thinking, intelligent man with sound judgement.

I'm sorry, but there is only one candidate in this race. posted 07/23/2008 at 12:03:16

Unintentionally telling how you equate McCain's penchant of joking about 'death to Iranians' as optimism, smiling, grinning, and laughing. Perhaps we were all a little taken aback by McCain's first attempt at the touchy comedic subject of death to Iranians ("Bomb bomb Iran").

His second attempt at leveraging the purely fun aspect of killing Iranians (cigarettes: "Maybe that's a way of killing them." ) is - without doubt - cause for concern.

When a guy makes a joke about the same subject TWICE then there's always more to it than humor.

An Awful Competition in a Changing China

I moved to live in China with my wife and two teenage boys in tow. We lived in the interior near Chengdu (where the earthquake was). We had a blast. China is a very exciting place and the people are extremely nice. If you are looking for an affordable place to live, where daily life is actually really fun, give China a try. :)

Anyway, we're back in the states now, and this place (suburban hell, neighbors with RVs, Walmart stores, people wasting countless hours on making their lawn look green, etc.) is driving me nuts.... posted 07/21/2008 at 10:56:48

A Tale Of Two Economies: Bush, Bernanke Differ On Where US Is Heading

The most incredible - and unintended - ramification of Bush's press conference yesterday was that the price of light, sweet crude dropped by almost $10.00 a barrel when Bush, practically forced by a reporter into suggesting that consumer conservancy 'is a good thing', stated that we should drive less and not use our 'air conditioners when we're not home'.

So just follow this: Bush utters one or two lines about us cutting back on things and the price of oil drops like a stone.

Following this strange peritpeteia, just imagine what might actually happen if this administration had the balls to begin a domestic campaign aimed at reducing our collective usage of resources. Imagine Bush calling for a dedicated national agenda of cutting back on resource usage. The day-trading oil speculators would be looking for a new job. And we'd be back to $3.00 a gallon gas prices in no time. Very good news for the US public. The downside? Bush wouldn't have the crisis he needs in order to invade our public lands for private drilling.... posted 07/16/2008 at 07:41:41

Oil Reaches Historic Highs While OPEC Holds Us in Contempt

During Bush's press conference today, the price of sweet crude dropped by about $8.00 per barrel as soon as Bush was pushed into saying that Americans should use less gas. Just follow this: Within mere moments of even mentioning this, the price of oil dropped dramatically. See a parallel here?

If this administration would have the balls to begin a domestic campaign based on conservation of resources (i.e. less driving, turning off air conditioners, etc) the cost of those same resources would plummet. Unfortunately, while this is great for consumers, it goes against the efforts of the self-same neocapitalists running our administration. So are we screwed? Well and truly. posted 07/15/2008 at 12:10:06

US Withdrawal Timetable Insisted Upon By Iraqi Government

Iraq needs to take it one step further and demand that the foreign corporations get the eff out as well.

Bill Gates' Misguided Capitalism

The experiment that is 'traditional capitalism' is failing. "If I knew of a system that did better than traditional capitalism (I don't), I would be happy to join the advocacy campaign for such a system." There is such a system: Developmentalism. Which includes nationalization of critical infrastructure (rather than letting foreign companies control it), investment of public funds into large-scale public works, cessation of the Federal Reserve Bank, creation of not-for-profit lending, an end to the privatization of our military, etc. There is nothing in traditional capitalism that addresses these issues.

Traditional capitalism is the culprit that would have Dubai Port Authority running our ports and GM opening factories in China while closing American plants. Traditional capitalism lacks any sense of patriotism if the same does not include profit. While this certainly benefits a tiny echelon, it does little for the great majority of Americans. Furthermore, if people vote based on their self-interest (the creed of traditional capitalism after all), then the days of unfettered capitalism are numbered... posted 07/02/2008 at 10:31:31

The Candidates' Idiotic Debate Over War On Terror

The 'war on terror' is nothing more than a wonderful catch-phrase convenience for the neocons currently holding our country hostage.

Furthermore, it is an argument that has been used by the same people prior to 9/11. Help Me Write a Book

Capitalism, being the placement and positioning of large blocks of capital, is well beyond the reach of about 90% of Americans. So perhaps you can add a section to the book that deals with the fact that most people who extoll the virtues of capitalism will never partake of the same. Perhaps you could also add a section that represents the fact that capitalism and patriotism are inherently incompatible concepts; capital, in its chase for profits, fleas borders in the blink of an eye, leaving the worker doe-eyed behind. posted 06/27/2008 at 10:52:19
