Navy Denies Chelsea Clinton To Vieques, Puerto Rico

Bush campaigns on Federal property all of the time. Not only that, but he uses on-duty soldiers all of the time for a back-drop. What is good for the goose should be good for the gander.

Actually, I support enforcement of the law and not special treatment for Bush. posted 05/15/2008 at 00:13:21

Bill Kristol Predicts Obama Veep As...Dick Gephardt?

Kristol is out of his element when he attempts to weigh in on Democratic politics. My darkhorse pick for VP: Gov. Ritter of Colorado. The convention is in Denver and Ritter is a popular Governor in a region that is tilting toward the Democrats. Look at the enthusiasm that would generate coming out of the convention. posted 05/12/2008 at 01:15:06

Obama Vice President Picks: Who Are The Frontrunners?

You named everybody in the Mountain West except the 1 person Obama might pick: Gov. Ritter of Colorado. With the convention in Denver, can you imagine the enthusiasm an Obama-Ritter ticket would have coming out of the convention. His one "con" would be a lack of foreign policy experience. Since Obama is already running on judgement rather than experience Ritter would be a fit. posted 05/12/2008 at 01:29:09

Exit Polls: Limbaugh Effect Seems To Rear Its Head

I think the wording in the exit polling was terrible.

"Values" is a code word for abortion. Many Catholics don't share Clinton's stand(values) on abortion but they voted for her any way. What is so hard to understand about that.

Next time they need to hire competent pollsters that know how to properly frame a question. And framing of questions often depends on who is paying for the poll.

Muddled results is the product of muddled minds. posted 05/07/2008 at 14:51:29

Clinton Camp Says It Will Use The Nuclear Option

Is Karl Rove secretly advising the Clinton campaign? This is as diabolical as anything Rove has hatched up over the years. I think it is damaging to Clinton that they are even considering such a stupid plan to steal the nomination. In fact this strengthens Obama's message that Clinton is just like Bush when it comes to campaign tactics. Hillary Clinton needs to take charge of her own campaign before it is too late. posted 05/05/2008 at 00:01:35

Clinton Defends 'Obliterate Iran' Comment, Obama Calls It Bush-Style 'Cowboy Diplomacy'

Pandering to the Jewish voter in the manner that Clinton has is as dangerous as George W. Bush's pandering with his "axis of evil" speech. That brought in a new, more right wing government in Iran and look where that has gotten us. White-hot talk like this is always counterproductive. Desperation politics are not a pretty sight. posted 05/04/2008 at 15:03:57

McCain Implies Iraq War Is For Oil: Watch Video

I can't follow what McCain said. He seems to start to say one thing then completely change the point he is attempting to make. At the end I think he even said "logical" when he meant "illogical". McCain has had the luxury of time to polish his comments yet he stumbles over and over again. Straight talk it is not. posted 05/03/2008 at 20:31:07

Fed Cuts Key Interest Rate By Quarter-Point

Last August the economy suddenly turned over. By the end of September it was abundently clear that aggressive action by the Fed on interest rates was in order. Instead, the Fed stuck with piddling 1/4 point cuts until late January when the Fed finally got aggressive. Those months of delay has cause this downturn to be worse than it had to be while also causing the Fed to cut deeper than what would have been necessary had the Fed done in October what they delayed until January. At this point rate cuts have run out of steam. Doint nothing today would have had the same impact as the 1/4 point cut. But that doesn't mean that fiscal policy can't have an impact. To date Bush has been dragging his feet and I don't look for that to change. Fiscal policy will have to be addressed by the new President in January. posted 05/01/2008 at 01:10:52

Obama's Reverend Wright Press Conference (VIDEO)

Bill O'Reilly says things on his show that are far worse than anything I have heard from Rev. Wright. Has any Republican ever been put in the position of having to denounce Bill O'Reilly? Of course not. One standard applies to whites and a stricter standard applies to blacks. That is called racism. This is Obama's Willie Horton moment, no more and no less. posted 04/29/2008 at 21:06:02
Can someone explain to me why this is even necessary? I haven't heard all of Rev. Wrights comments but I find little that is offensive when the full statement is read. I think far too much is being viewed through a white man's lens. What a shame that soft racism like this still dominates the political landscape, causing Obama to denounce rather than just dismiss Rev. Wright's comments and move on. Yes, America is being successfully Willie Horton'ed again. Does it not ever learn? posted 04/29/2008 at 21:00:37

McCain Strongly Rejected Long-Term Iraq Presence: "Bring Them All Home"

The old McCain was the "mavrick" McCain. The new McCain is the Republican standard bearer. While the new McCain is old the mavrick McCain is mutually exclusive with the new McCain.

Oh, one other thing. The old McCain talked like a mavrick but voted in lock-step with Bush, making him a hypocrit then too. Just a hypocrit for a different reason. posted 04/29/2008 at 15:54:42

Baghdad Green Zone Bombarded With Rockets

I'm no so sure but what this attack was a result of al Sadr's latest call for attacks on the occupier. The Green Zone is the headquarters of the occupier. Is it perhaps just wishful thinking that al Sadr may be losing control of his Mahdi Army?

Other reports of renewed beheadings around Baghdad could well be the work of the Badr Brigade renewing their ethnic cleansing. posted 04/27/2008 at 21:10:37

TV SoundOff: Sunday Talking Heads

Another issue-less weekend from the talking heads. That comes as absolutely no surprise. That might interfere with the ratings war that is fueled completely by the horserace angle.

There was one smart thing said. Obama spent more time on Fox being critical of McCain than Clinton. I presume it was a mostly Republican audience making this the golden opportunity to undermine John McCain. I give Wallace credit for allowing this to happen. The more I see of John McCain on the campaign trail the more I am reminded of Bob Dole and that ain't all bad. posted 04/27/2008 at 21:51:22

Jenna Bush On Larry King: I "Don't Know" If I'll Vote For A Republican... Laura Bush: I Don't Like The "Pounding" George Gets (VIDEO)

So, why didn't King ask Laura whether she thought the American people were wrong and why they were wrong for giving Bush the lowest poll ratings since polling began. And are the polls rating the message or the messinger. There is a lot King could have done with this opening and he failed to follow up. Typical MSM falling down on the job. posted 04/24/2008 at 13:13:14

McCain opposes equal pay bill in Senate

What does education and training have to do with the fact that women often get only 70% of what men get for doing exactly the same job. And it is worse than that on comprable work comparisons. While I have no issue with more education and training for workers I fail to see where that would make much of a dent in the pay inequitity issue. This is in fact a very sexist proposal to be putting forward. posted 04/24/2008 at 13:19:13

Jimmy Carter: Rice "Not Telling Truth" About Hamas Meeting

Why would Rice not put this request in writing? Had she done that, as any prudent person would have, then there would be no doubt about who is telling the truth. Given the truthiness history of these two people, I would trust Carter's word more than I would Rice's word. posted 04/24/2008 at 00:36:21

Anti-US cleric al-Sadr threatens new uprising in Iraq

This operation has Cheney's fingerprints all over it. Cheney was in Baghdad only about 2 weeks before the first diversionary action started in Basra. Iran interviened to get a ceasefire in place but the Americans did not honor the ceasefire, ordering Maliki's forces to re-enter the fighting.

Now we learn that an uprising involving both the Madhi Army and al Qaeda in Iraq could be just days away. Tell me again how successful the surge has been. We need as many American troops following the surge as we did before the surge. What exactly did the surge accomplish?

And why is there no discussion in MSM about this deteriorating situation in Iraq. We know this has the blessing of John McCain so if you like what is going on in Iraq now you will love McCain. posted 04/19/2008 at 21:47:53

Joe Scarborough Walks Off MSNBC's "Race To The White House" After Exchange With Rachel Maddow

Rachel is just too smart and quick on her feet for the plodding, crybaby Joe Scarboro. Too bad Joe, but you are overmatched. When Chris Matthews gets overmatched he simply interrupts the conversation and yells louder and louder until they give up. Will Joe develop that same style? Then we would have puke 1 and puke 2. posted 04/18/2008 at 00:41:46

Cheney's Office Responds To Inquiry About Naked Woman Supposedly Reflected In His Glasses

What the reflection looks like to me is a woman wearing white shorts sitting on a stool. What some see as breasts are the woman's kneecaps. Her dark top hides the remainder of her torso. Nothing wrong with a vivid imagination though. posted 04/10/2008 at 19:33:33

White House And Pentagon Agree That Iraqi Forces Remain Unprepared To Take Over Security Mission

Unprepared, after 5 years of recruiting and training? How can that be?

Has Iraq thought of a draft? That would be one way that an integrated military could be built. Doing it politically like this would have at least some chance of being successful. Doing the same thing for another 5 years will still result in the Iraqi military being unprepared. And it will not end the corruption.

Gen. Petraeus offered nothing that would move the Iraqi military toward preparedness. Only the same old stay the course and let the American soldiers do the front line fighting as they are currently doing in Sadr City. Please tell me that the military war college doesn't teach it this way and that only yes men would say such utterly stupid things just to kiss his Commander in Chief's ass. I think I will go puke now. posted 04/10/2008 at 00:20:17

Petraeus Shifts Sharply On Basra, Aligns With White House Spin

Gen. Petraeus was an effective stonewaller. When asked to give a direct answer to a specific question by Sen. Levin he refused to answer the question directly. Everybody knows that it takes a political solution yet the Bush administration refuses to take the measures that would force the hand of the Iraqi government, allowing that government to take us for the suckers we have been for at least the last 3 years. When Petraus moves his lips the words sound like Cheney speaking. Cheney has apparently taken over the Defense Department from Robert Gates -- at least I haven't seen or heard from Gates for weeks.

In the last 5 years we have gone from "major combat operations in Iraq are over" to "there is no light at the end of the tunnel". That sounds like we have been going backwards for the last 5 years and nary a word of understanding on how this can be reversed so American's can come home. What a shame. posted 04/09/2008 at 15:25:09

Michael Ware On Iraq Hearings: I Just See A Lot Of Oxygen Being Wasted Here

It is 3 weeks short of 5 years ago that Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq were over. Now, nearly 5 years later, we are told that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. (That is 5 years worth of oxygen being wasted).

Going from one extreme to the other is not a plan. It is ducking the question. A year ago 18 benchmarks were put forward as the measuring stick for success. Those were the light at the end of the tunnel. Apparently that light has retreated from sight. Should not somebody be held accountable for the failure to meet the stated objectives?

For the last four years the answer has always been the same. Just give us six more months. When a team that is expected to win starts out the season 0-8 the manager/coach is gone. It is time for this management group to be gone as well. And that means Petraeus as well. posted 04/09/2008 at 01:07:26

Iran Confirms Role In Brokering Iraq Truce

What a shame that sources with ties to Iran are more believable than our own government. Would anyone have ever dreamed that America would ever find itself in this position. America with a rogue government. And bin Laden still lives in safety. Unbelievable indeed. posted 04/05/2008 at 21:08:33

Huge Job Losses Set Off Recession Alarms

This 80,000 number will likely be increased over the next couple of months or more just like this month saw upward adjustments to prior months by something like 72,000. Also keep in mind that on Thursday the first time unemployed number crossed over the critical 400,000 mark. Together these numbers suggest that layoff's are picking up pace and almost certainly will continue to increase over the next few months. If the trend continues as I expect the Bush administration will have presided over an economy for 8 years and created no new jobs. Zero. Pathetic. posted 04/05/2008 at 01:41:55

Joe Lieberman Likens John McCain To JFK

I wonder how the people of CT feel today about sending Lieberman back to the US Senate?

Frankly, I don't see a bone in old John McCain's body that in any way resembles JFK. Plus, Lieberman is wrong on Obama because Obama has been very outspoken about going after bin Laden, wherever actionable intelligence places him at the time. Maybe McCain needs to whisper in his ear to correct his "misstatements". posted 03/30/2008 at 17:50:53

Shiite Leader Al-Sadr Defies Iraq Gov't

Bring in the air power. In a urban area that is a receipe for increased civilian deaths. But what are a few more on top of the 600,000 already killed and the nearly 5 million driven from their homes. By all means stay the course. It is having such a wonderful impact. And John McCain will bring more of the same. posted 03/29/2008 at 13:55:59

Bush: Iraq Violence A Necessary Part Of Development

Violence is "necessary" is a far cry from the assurances before the invasion started that victory would be easy and that we would be greeted as liberators. Now that he thinks it is necessay, what level of violence is necessary and how long will it remain necessary? Does he really want to go down that slippery slope? Obama, Clinton And McCain's Passports Breached: Two State Dept Officials Fired, Investigation Underway

I'm beginning to understand how 5 million Whitehouse e-mail's got erased and Valerie Plame Wilson got outed as a covert CIA agent. They have absolutely no security anywhere in the Bush administration. And still nobody has been held accountable for this disgraceful, incompetent record. Nobody. (Well, Scooter partially).

This is also another reason why the Telecom companies cannot be given back-dated immunity. This won't stop until some people pay the price. In many ways, this is far more serious than what caused Eliot Spitzer to step down as Governor of New York. Let's see some more heads roll. posted 03/21/2008 at 22:56:37
