JJ, You're missing the point. Obama has 1st hand perspective of what's it's like to grow up and live in America, with the appearances of being a black man. In all likelyhood, he's lived with discrimination because of the color of his skin. He's also witnessed, 1st hand, the fears of his mother which is TYPICAL of a caucasion woman from her generation.

The point is, that Obama has unique experiences and sensitivity to racial divisiveness.

If you are a person of color in America, you will be guaranteed to experience racial discrimination in your lifetime. If you are German, you may or may not practice or study nazi doctrine. posted 03/25/2008 at 18:06:12
I have noticed that it's predominantly white media commentators who are fanning the flames of the Obama-Wright controversy. Ironically, for people of color, we're all puzzled, because there's truth in what both Obama and Wright said. Obviously, it's an effort to create divisiveness amongst the white voters. Ms. Hasselbeck, Your false bravado reflects an ignorance or self-denial of the inner city realities. WITHOUT your entourage, when was the last time you walked down a street in Watts, or Harlem, or Columbia Heights? I have. I'm a minority. And I just about crap in my pants. I cross over to the other side of the street, and walk the LONG way around the block to avoid gangs hanging out on the street - LOTS OF TIMES. It's my perspective that white folk rationalize their claim not to be racist by ignoring the problems that create racial problems - they say/do something ignorant like this that really show their lack of understanding of the issue. posted 03/24/2008 at 18:46:09
