Married to Pat Perkins, a kindergarten teacher for public schools.
Three grown children, David Jr., Tricia and Patrick
Four grandchildren, Crystal Debra, Tori, Sarah and Megan Dawn and one more on the way in May, 08.
Born a mile from the Mississippi River in Helena, Arkansas and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.
I joined the Marine Corps out of high school and served two hitches. Just after my honorable discharge at age 25 I became a radio dj, being mostly a country music dj going by the airname âCharlie Brownâ on, among others, WBAP here in Fort Worth, KPRC in Houston and WTHE in New York City (now a gospel radio station.)
I also emceed the TV show âCowtown Jamboreeâ and did many emcee and speaking engagements.
After 13 years on the air and desiring a more ânormalâ family life I went back to school to the University of Houston where I studied Philosophy. I took a job as a computer programmer in 1979 and programmed computers for 21 years before retiring in 2002.
I had first felt the call to preach in my late 20âs but I did not have the maturity to overcome the obstacles placed in my way and, as Jonah did, went in the opposite direction from where God had commanded me to go.
Now, in my later years, I realize itâs never too late to serve God.
