He hasn't, Most republicans don't give to the campaign but to the party. Something the Dems have yet to do. This way the candidate isn't beholden to election spending. The repb's do this every election and every election the Dem party still doesn't grasp the concept. Just like the backbiting between the two parties nothing changes every election. posted 07/09/2008 at 06:21:39

All candidates only agreed not to campaign in the states, which both Clinton and Obama did not follow here in Florida. Both held fund raisers here and Obama ran ads on tv.

Well if that is the case, then why doesn't he just say so. I don't think anyone would have a problem with certain things he changed if he gets on the tv and says, You know I sat down with Sen. Clinton and Sen. Edwards and went over some things. These are the things we're going to work towards and how we're going to do them. I don't think anyone has a problem with him changing things around when something like that happens, but that is not what is happening. That is exactly why things never change and the status quo continues, because of that mentality of just follow along. Sorry but the follow along mentality is no longer acceptable. The I'll say one thing during a campaign then turn around and do another and then do another once in office is not acceptable. That is exactly how we got into the mess we are in now. How many jobs need to be outsourced? How many illegals will you allow to come into the country? How many homes need to be foreclosed upon? How many American companies need to be bought out by foreign companies and governments? How many of your civil rights need to be trashed? Before you wake up and stop being a lap dog ? Exactly how many of those things need to happen before you stop? Please do tell, I am interested in knowing how far blindly following a a person or party you will go. posted 07/09/2008 at 05:10:55

Study: Military Gays Don't Undermine Unit Cohesion

Fact is 20 years ago when DADT went into effect it was the best that could be done at the time. Here we are and a different generation of people are enlisted and are controlling the military high positions. DADT is now outdated and no longer serves it purposes as even the retired Generals of the day recognize as such. It really is high time that those in Congress face reality and the reality of such is that the days of old are gone. Sexuality is not something that is discussed in secret anymore, Sexuality is not something that this generation is ashamed of. If they don't see that it is time to keep up with the change they will find themselves left behind. posted 07/08/2008 at 06:50:32

If anything these Generals are from a time when all kinds of things were discriminated against in the military not just on sexual or race matters but many many things. I think what is bugging you is that the report didn't go the way you wanted it so we need to now come up with something to discredit it somehow. Tell me, are you an active General or retired General in any one of the armed forces? If not do be quiet and stop insulting our military. posted 07/08/2008 at 06:39:05

Arianna Answers Time Readers' 10 Questions

Your answer to Mayhill Fowler was incomplete. The reality is she should not have done what she did and you know it. It was bad journalism at best and should be addressed.

Personally as someone who has dual citizenship in this country I don't think immigrants as a whole are demonized, just the illegal ones and rightfully so. That is another answer that I feel was incomplete and should have been followed with the fact that immigrants are demonized along with those who illegally enter this country regardless of the reasons.

Was there more to these answers or were these the complete questions and answers? If this is the complete copy of this journalism I've seen better questions from a high school reporter for his or her schools paper. posted 07/08/2008 at 06:58:13

The Antidote to Our Pessimism: Change

Inflation is up considerably more than even 17%. To get a true indicator of how far citizens have fallen you need to go back to the 70's when people were able to save no less than 30% of their one person income after everything including the mortgage was paid. The wool was slowly pulled over the eyes of the populace except under this administration. Every year wages increased only 1 or 2 % while inflation kept creeping up 4,5,6 and higher percentage points. Over the years the balance gets entirely out of whack. Only during the Clinton years did average Americans see an increase in salary and the deficit reduced which was quickly abolished by the Bush administration.

Perhaps the crisis we are in is a good thing as long as Americans finally stand up. Housing is overpriced well beyond what anyone can afford, energy cost are skyrocketing, Health care as become unaffordable and the list goes on and on. Americans need to stand up now, implement regulation on companies and if they won't abide by the rules instead of greed they go. Other people are more than willing to start new companies to take their place who will follow the rules. Farmers need to take back their farms from these people and go back to paying Americans to do the job at fair wages instead of hiring illegals. Greed must stopped at every turn and companies as well as our elected officials must be held to a higher standard. posted 07/07/2008 at 06:08:54

Majority Of Americans Say Founding Fathers Would Be Disappointed: Poll

No, it really isn't. If you're going to to put blame somewhere about slavery then you take all of the history or none at all, Period! posted 07/06/2008 at 11:33:18
Though I agree with you there are a percentage of people who just sit and collect a check, which IMO must and should be not be eligible for anything moving forward. The illegal immigrants do not do work Americans won't do , they do work Americans won't do for less than a living wage. That is a big difference. Because the Government allows companies to pay people below the poverty line doesn't mean Americans are not more than willing to do the job. It's called Greed. posted 07/06/2008 at 11:28:50
My point was, since some seem to like to glide over the fact that it was not just some people. Many people had a role in slavery and glossing over the parts we wish to ignore does not do one any good. You can't lay slavery just at the foot of those who owned slaves during that time. Those were the times that those people lived in. Do I agree with it, NO! But it was what it was and cherry picking history is not the answer either.

Unknown, perhaps you should read up on how certain people were treated in African countries and still are today before laying the blame strictly at the foot of our founding fathers. posted 07/06/2008 at 08:54:15

Yes, as well as everyone involved in the trade. That would also include those tribes in Africa who sold people into slavery.

If you are going to make stupid remarks like that at least know some semblance of history on slavery.

If you knew your history you would also know that to make a blanket statement like that just shows more of ignorance. Not all of the founding fathers had slaves nor were they for slavery. If you do check (which I doubt you will) very very few people in this country actually had slaves. Only the rich could afford such a thing.

People like you and the others on the board today making stupid remarks like that just really piss me off. If you are soooo unhappy here and can't comprehend exactly what was left to you by the founding fathers perhaps you would be better off in another country. Where things perfect? NO Is anything perfect? NO. But they did a hell of a lot better than what we have now! posted 07/05/2008 at 16:48:55
It saddens me at some of the comments made here about the founders of this country. I think the ones who insist on smearing them don't really understand the question. We know they are dead, we know they used to own slaves, so what is your point?

I do believe they are rolling in their graves. The size and scope of the federal government was never supposed to be as it is. The laziness of the citizenry to actually keep themselves informed and educated as to what the government is doing is beyond comprehension. The abuses by government officials against the citizens that go unchecked and unpunished by the citizens would make them scream. This country has and is becoming exactly that which that did not want and left behind under the monarchy.

It really is a shame some are so insecure and see themselves most likely as being part of the problem rather than solution and need to justify it by posting nonsense. posted 07/05/2008 at 13:20:25

What we have seen is not some issues but approaching all issues and not just to the center but hard right. Can't wait to see what else he compromises on. That is the problem of putting someone on a pedal stool that never did anything it is only after the fact do you see what he is truly about and so far I am not liking it very much. Because it is. The rule of thumb is that for every 1 person who actually speaks out there are at least 20 people who don't say anything. Combine those numbers with the latest poll of just Clinton democrats who say they are not voting for O which at last poll was 32% you now have almost 6 million votes lost and growing. Add that number to the Democrats who say they are not sure who or if they will vote and you have about 7 -8 million lost votes. That 1 or 2 % adds up here and there and when you combine them all together you get your answer as to why you lose an election. His disapproval among Democrats is growing and that number does not include a lot of things so that number is only going to rise. When he starts losing Democrats into the double digits even reaching across the aisle and grabbing Republicans is not going to save him. posted 07/07/2008 at 06:22:16

Many people I've talked to also heard the same coming from his speech. If you recall he stated constantly that Hillary and I will be working, Hillary and I will be fighting, etc.

Though not my ideal slot for my candidate I do believe the ticket would bring the centrist that he needs while he can go to the left on some things. It also gives him someone who knows how things work in Washington that he so desperately needs. He needs someone tough to fight for him in Congress he if wants to get anything done. So while Sen. Obama has to watch how far to the center or center right if you will he goes he also has to watch how far to the left he leans as well. Leaning too far to the left will turn off Democratic voters such as myself, Independent voters aside, who he does need in the Democratic party to win.

I will not vote for Sen. McCain in the general election, but at this point I can not say that Sen. Obama is automatically getting my vote either. I want to see exactly what and where Sen. Obama is going and in the next few months I will decide for myself what to do with my vote. As it stands right now, I see a typical politician who has bamboozled many people to win the nomination. Let's see what he does with it in the next few months. posted 07/03/2008 at 06:27:10

Fox News Photoshops Pictures Of New York Times Reporters In Response To Weekend "Hit Piece"

Truthfully, because it is a nonstory. You mention it and move on. Carrying on and on about it only turns people off. It's her money and she is free to spend it anyway she likes. Do you now want to put a limit on how much money one can spend in a month? Think about that for a second.

I don't have that much money and would love to have just a quarter of it, but I don't. People will see it for what it is just by mentioning it. Sometimes less is more. posted 07/03/2008 at 05:59:16
Exactly Hatingthegame. It has already begun and the far left, sorry, have participated in it. Every time a group passes a "feel good" law for the "betterment" of society it is the fascist at work. It conditions people to accept that this is the way it is even though it may violate someone else's right, that 's too bad it's for the good of the people. No, it's not. posted 07/03/2008 at 05:56:59

GOOGLE, YAHOO DEAL SUBJECT OF ANTITRUST INVESTIGATION

Great now I'll get screwed at both google and yahoo with fraud clicks that google says they are stopping, yeah right. To add insult to injury the DOJ is doing an "investigation". Like the rest of them where they just approve the merger anyway. All corporate mergers need to stop. How about we start investigating these corporations for the fraud they are committing. Is that too much of a dream? posted 07/02/2008 at 05:49:02

McCain Backer's Firm Pleaded Guilty To Funding Terrorist Group In Colombia

I don't care if you found it funny or not! It was sarcastic look it up. Did you read my post? How am I "spinning" it for Mc A $ $? Typical fluff po user. Do crawl back into your hole. posted 07/02/2008 at 08:35:46
As I recall this is nothing new coming out of countries like this. Doesn't Dole and other companies do the same thing? These companies are paying in essence extortion money to these groups so they don't kill their workers in these countries. It's not just limited to fruit, the coffee people do the same thing. With all the money we taxpayers give to these countries how is it that they can't get their countries under control? posted 07/02/2008 at 06:06:03
Doubt this week, since most of the major "news" people are on vacation. Not that most of them would have carried it anyhow aside from a small snippet. They're all still too busy worrying about O and Hill to see how the two are getting along. I hear that they might be doing a fondue dinner and sitting close to each other. Perhaps if they just got a hotel room and slept together the msm would concentrate on real news, what do you think? Yeah, I doubt it too posted 07/02/2008 at 06:02:18
Your post would have had much merit. Shame you soiled it with so much hate and racism. posted 07/02/2008 at 05:56:20

All of McCain's Base Belongs to Us: Why It Won't Even Be Close

The problem is with the polls. They poll likely voters, which isn't the same as polling voters. They also ask the same people over and over. I'm on one of those list and get calls constantly for one poll or another. Too say the least of the wording. I can get a poll to say anything I want just by wording the question the correct way. Polls are meaningless unless the questions being asked are direct and straightforward as well as the people truly are random. posted 07/02/2008 at 06:15:49

Obamaniacs: Tearful Mother & Daughter Overwhelmed Meeting Obama

scouserinlondon,
Either way, meanguy is correct. This shouldn't be about a popularity contest but should be looking at who can do something for this country. Not someone who can hold a group of people with love and admiration. How about some substance, is that too much to ask for? By you own words he's a star. I don't want a star for POTUS, I want someone who can actually do the job. Big Difference! posted 07/02/2008 at 08:46:14
Yeah it's called being a fanatic! Remember those that you keep putting down on the right? Well it's not a good thing on the left either. posted 07/02/2008 at 08:41:28
Is there someone running for POTUS with integrity? Hey, nobody told me!

Sorry, I don't own a gun, but will defend the right of someone else to own one into the ground! See I actually believe in our civil rights. Try it sometime you would be amazed at how much you appreciate them when some people aren't trying to take them away from you constantly. posted 07/01/2008 at 21:37:57
Nice try, but they can't take the guns through security. Typical far left mumbo jumbo posted 07/01/2008 at 21:35:21
You can also identify the facists in the bunch who want everyone to conform to their way of thinking even if it means violating the U.S. Constitution. I hear there are plenty of dictatorship countries left who don't allow guns and everyone marches in lock step. If this country is so bad how about you all go find one of those to live and leave the rest of us alone with our civil rights.

This is one D who doesn't buy into the far left agenda! posted 07/01/2008 at 20:36:25
I here ya amanda, like all those criminals who just do otherwise what the law says. It's a good thing they all go down to the sheriffs office to do the criminal background check before they buy their guns. Let's pass another law they won't follow.

Legal or otherwise you can never predict what another person is going to do. Should we now start outlawing anything that can be used as a weapon. Knives next? I think we should sue the knife makers, do realize how many people are stabbed each year? How many die of knife wounds? It's staggering, they must be stopped! I think you should have to do a pysch test before being able to purchase knives from now on! That will stop these crazies. posted 07/01/2008 at 18:58:55

Olbermann Special Comment: Obama's Second Chance On FISA

I don't think he can pardon himself. Nixon was pardoned by Ford. It really is too little too late. The D leadership should have took this up when they took control however slight in 2006. If nothing more than to show the American people that the R's were going to block any investigation into this administration. Did they do that? No. Are they holding real and true congressional hearings on anything? No. Oh they hold hearings, but what really comes out of them? Nothing. Pelosi and Reid are a disgrace as is Gov. Dean. The DNC leadership needs to go! posted 07/01/2008 at 06:54:51

Obama and Bill Clinton Finally Speak

He's a former President, not ex. As is former Marine, never an ex Marine. Please do know the difference.

No, he's not a God, but he is a former President that had 8 very good years under D leadership. Exactly how has been the last 8 under an R President?

The only people I see being childish is the people who can't look past their own insecurities about Pres. Clinton where Obama is concerned.

Politics aside, do keep in mind that Hillary is his WIFE! I would be a little disappointed if he wasn't a little pissed off, in particular at the MSM. His attitude has shown me that through it all he really does care about her and that perhaps their marriage isn't just a marriage in name only like has been suggested. Would not any other husband be the same way if it was their wife? Do take into account all sides before thinking he's a God who is just being childish. posted 07/01/2008 at 07:09:35
Just in case you hadn't noticed during the primary, latino's overwhelming supported Clinton. Has for the racists nonsense, that was an msm inspired story. posted 07/01/2008 at 07:00:10

Memo to Obama: Moving to the Middle is for Losers

But if he doesn't stand up for the American Civil Rights now as a Senator, do tell what makes you think he will as POTUS? NOW, is the time to stand firm for the Constitution, not later. posted 07/05/2008 at 08:24:55
Obama has shown he is just a typical politician willing to say anything to get elected. Sorry if that burst the bubble of some, but hence that is reality. The mantra of wait until he gets into office doesn't wash as if he doesn't stand now what makes you think he will later. Sorry, but now is the time, not later.

The Republicans are going to wait until after the convention to do anything. So to say we would be giving them a wedge is niave, it is assuming they don't already have one, they do.. They want to make sure that Hillary has no chance of getting the nomination from the delegates before coming out with stuff against him. All this sliding on everything he has promised is just more ammunition for them later. Please do spare me the old rhetoric of they have stuff on Hillary as well, no kidding. What, the same crap we've heard for years and years. Exactly what are they holding on Obama is what I want to know. Obama himself is giving the Republicans a wedge issue now, they didn't even have to come up with it. posted 07/05/2008 at 08:20:40
