Obama, God And Governance

Whhhooo that'll show 'em! You didn't get your way so you're out to show BO who the real "decider" is. Get with the program....

Before there can be CHANGE... he has to get there.............................................................. posted 07/08/2008 at 15:09:31
Only organized mercenaries, organized profiteers, organized no-bid Halliburton contracts, organized hostile takeovers, organized war..... right?

Only organized arms deals, organized death squads and organized recruitment for a false war, right?

Only organized and private sector funding is legitimate... but don't fund those who do their job well, cost effectively and without screaming for more profits. I see. Hmmmmmmmmm that is working so very well........................ posted 07/08/2008 at 15:05:17
Hello? How much government funding goes on in the private sector? Research? Development? Job Training? Education? Music? The Arts? Itsn't money targeted to the agencys, npos and businesses that are best equipped to function and best able to make a real impact?

So for all of you who are opposed to faith based groups reaching out to those the government can't do a good job of reaching, what do you propose they do? Give it over to a private sector company seeking to reap a huge profit for a job NOT well done? Think Halliburton.

Your concern is not for those afflicted who will benefit from these dollars going to those who can use them wisely and stretch them incredibly. Your concern is that someone might try to 'convert' you to be someone you don't want to be. Then stop watching Lost.......Stop reading billboards, listening to radio commercials and for God's sake get off the internet!

There are always those who try to get you to do something or think a certain way. We are free willed individuals living in a free society. I don't know about you..... but I just don't feel FEARFUL nor OFFENDED about money spent to study the sex habits of tree frogs. And, guess what...... just because they studied it, I don't feel the urge to go out there and have a foggy fling.

Where were you when the no-bid Halliburton contract was upon us??? Were you whining then? posted 07/08/2008 at 15:00:39

Obama Launching "Joshua Generation Project"

Faith is defined by Webster first and foremost as: 'having allegiance to duty or a person, fidelity to one's promise or sincerity of intentions.'

From a biblical perspective faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. You cannot get out of bed in the morning without faith that you can place your foot on the floor.

Placing faith in a person is primary. Don't you have faith in yourself to make good choices? Your children to follow instructions? Your spouse to stand beside you? If you don't have faith that the person you support will make good choices, then why would you support them?

Democracy operates out of faith that the system works. I agree with that. But there are a great number of variables you are working with. It is your responsibility to control those you can by supporting those you believe in and trust.

Having faith in a person is NOT contrary to democracy nor the constitution. Without faith that there would be those who would uphold the constitution and its amendments they couldn't have penned the preamble. ". . . in order to form a more perfect union." Because, that means they had faith that it would happen. posted 06/11/2008 at 13:21:43
There is nothing to fear. Reaching out to a group does not mean that they will take over and govern the campaign. This is simply an opportunity to reach a group that their "own party" has overlooked. The right wing has twisted faith into something ugly and unrecognizable by most Christians. And... most Christians don't want to change a thing about you and yours. They simply, as you want to live in peace and worship as they choose.

The right has taken the extremists in the Christian ranks and given them a platform that we all should fear. I am a Christian, and I could never align myself with what they stand for.

So don't be afraid of this... Obama's own words "Given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers." posted 06/10/2008 at 11:52:41
Reaching out to Christian youth does not mean they are more important. Outreach programs for specific demographics are a part of any campaign. If he reaches out to women does that mean he shouldn't be supported by men? By reaching out to veterans should he not then receive the support of those who never served in the military?

To give opportunity to become engaged to those who may not realize they are welcome, or may not realize how to engage within the workings of a campaign, should be commended, not criticized.

To use this as an excuse to not donate or support a candidate is saying he can only seek votes and involvement, offer hope and promise to those you personally recognize as valid? We are a nation of broad and vast ethnicity, faith, and heritage. All are welcome here. All. And personally, I want to support a visionary who recognizes that we do have differences, and it is our differences that make us stronger.

If you are an Obama supporter then you know that Barack Obama said "Given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."

No one should feel left behind during this turning point in our nation's history. Have some faith in your candidate. posted 06/10/2008 at 11:32:49
