Why Bush Has Won in Iraq and the Rest of Us Have Lost

It's too bad most of America didn't listen to Gravel while he was running. He speaks the truth. Thank god Nader is still running. At least we have a choice. posted 07/08/2008 at 23:59:45

Mike Gravel on The Stephanie Miller Show

Wouldn't you know it? The ONE day I miss Stephanie she has on Senator Gravel. Damn. And I can't get to the archives b/c I'm not a premium member.

Gravel is right on the mark with what's going on in politics these days. It's a shame that corporate media has all but silenced him, especially during his presidential run. They've done the same to Kucinich and Paul... the folks that have the most integrity and really support the US citizens. What a shame.

Gravel is trying to spread the word about his National Initiative for Democracy. Representative democracy is broken. The National Initiative would add a branch to government -- the PEOPLE, having the power to directly impact federal bills, is the only way our government will get fixed. ni4d.us.

If you all have a chance, look up Gravel's videos on youtube. There are a bunch out there with lots of great discussion about the issues that really matter. We lost the best president we never had. :-( posted 06/24/2008 at 11:22:11

Kucinich Introduces Articles of Impeachment. Now?! He Also Denounces Japan Attacking Us at Pearl Harbor.

When will people learn? The Democrats and Republicans are BOTH complicit in these crimes. That's why Pelosi won't bring it up. Too many of her own party knew about the torture, the extraordinary renditions, etc. They don't want to be called out on the carpet for the same crimes as the Bush administration.

This is what we need to do:
1) VOTE THIRD PARTY. I don't care if it's Nader, Greens, Libertarians, Constitution, etc.
2) VOTE for the National Initiative. Give power to the people to become lawmakers. ni4d.us.
3) DON'T DONATE to Republican and Democratic National Committees anymore. If there's a particular candidate that you like (like Kucinich) donate to their campaigns directly ONLY.
4) Get involved yourself. Not all of us are able to run for local offices, but get involved as much as you can at the local level.
5) WATCH your representatives voting. Write to them often. If they aren't voting the way they should be, start looking for a new representative to send in their place.
6) Pay attention to non-mainstream/non-corporate media sites. Even sites like HuffPo appear to be Democratic party backed and not independent. They are wholly on the Obama bandwagon.
7) Tell others. Spread the message of true progressive policies. The Democrats are NOT that. posted 06/15/2008 at 14:28:34
cla62-It is a waste of American tax dollars to impeach our war criminal of a president? Interesting. I'd say the bigger waste of tax dollars is: corporate welfare to the OIL COMPANIES who have had record profits for the past year. Why are we subsidizing the billion dollars in bonuses of oil execs? WAR IN IRAQ. Nation-building around the world with permanent military bases where our military budget annually is more than the rest of the world's COMBINED!!!! Faith-based initiatives that are sham organizations where our tax dollars go into the pocket of some lying sack of crap preacher who jets between his mansions and exotic locations around the world and has sweat shops in the Mariana Islands where the people are treated like animals. Here, a preacher who is "pro-life" runs a sweat shop where the women are forced to have abortions because they would lose productivity at work. Sickening. I guess christian principles only really apply to white people for preachers like this. Racist, bigoted, idiots, full of hypocrisy. I personally LOVE the $350K gold-plated gym that the TSA purchased. WTF?

Do you people read what you write? We have no leadership in this country, no people in government of moral character aside from people like Kucinich. Instead we have "go-alongs to get-alongs", strategists (who strategize poorly), ineffectiveness to the utmost degree, liars, people beholden to corporate interests. posted 06/15/2008 at 14:25:43

Coulter: McCain a "Lickspittle" Unworthy of "Kissing Bush's Behind"

Colin Powell recently stated he might support Obama... So, he's out. posted 06/15/2008 at 14:49:48

Will Hillary Ever Be One Of The Cool Kids?

I'd like to recommend another book for you all: Citizen Power by Mike Gravel (originally written in the 70's, recently updated for current times). posted 03/24/2008 at 20:22:44
Huh. I lost the rest of my post too. Blah. I was trying to say that there are other candidates: Nader, McKinney and several other greens, libertarians, Gravel and Paul... I think we need to start looking at these alternative candidates. The establishment candidates (and that is what McCain, Clinton and Obama are) no longer represent the traditional voters for each of their parties. Republicans and Democrats of today are essentially cut from the same cloth. posted 03/24/2008 at 20:07:51
I'm sorry, I just have to say it. There are more candidates running for president than just McCain, Clinton and Obama. posted 03/24/2008 at 20:03:06
I understand your sentiments, but I can't bring myself to vote for either one of the dem front runners. The party line democrats no longer represent my views. I feel disenfranchised. Enough so that I'm planning to look more closely at the Greens going forward. Right now, I'm sticking with Gravel, though. posted 03/24/2008 at 19:15:36
You are wise beyond your years. :-) I agree 100%. And she is totally a corporate democrat. posted 03/24/2008 at 17:40:31
Did you really investigate all the candidates running? If you had (and really researched their positions on the issues), I doubt you would select Hillary and still be looking for a progressive candidate. And I'm no Obama supporter either. Neither of these candidates is suited to run this country and represent the citizens. They're both suited if they are representing Wall Street, though. posted 03/24/2008 at 17:39:16
This is dead on! :-) posted 03/24/2008 at 17:37:13
I agree 100% and he's still being courageous with the kinds of statements he's made in interviews and at the few debates they've allowed him to participate in. What a wonderful man. It's disgusting how not only the media has tossed him aside, but his own party as well. This is a man who has behind him military service, the release of the Pentagon Papers into the public record, the Alaska Pipeline (now 20% of the US oil supply), stopped nuclear testing in the pacific, tons of environmental legislation in the 70's and now this wonderful organization to implement the National Initiative. No other candidate has been this courageous. It's sad how many people have completely ignored him and are ignorant of what he's given to this country. I'm honored to give him my vote. posted 03/24/2008 at 17:34:46
I've been reading through the comments on this article, many of which I agree with. As a 40 yr old woman, I don't dislike Clinton because of her accomplishments. I consider myself to be somewhat of a feminist and would love to see a woman in office. I think Clinton is more than capable, although I don't technically consider her experience in public office very extensive. While I was a Bill Clinton supporter and thought things were going much better for this country while he was in the White House, I am discovering now that there were some serious flaws during his presidency as well. Some of which include NAFTA and the WTO entrance. I am not blaming Hillary for these flaws, although I do believe she supported them at the time. What I truly dislike about Hillary Clinton though is that she is bought and paid for, she represents the status quo, she is entrenched in it and perpetuates it. She voted to allow Bush to go to war in Iraq and voted for the Kyl-Lieberman Resolution opening the door for war with Iran. She voted for the Patriot Act. She did not vote at all on the final Senate FISA bill with retroactive immunity. I don't see her dedication to protecting civil rights. Not at all. I don't see her dedication to representing the citizens of this country rather than representing corporations. Her time spent on the board of Wal-Mart is telling as well.

I'm not an Obama supporter either. I'm still rooting for the total underdog in this race... Mike Gravel. I think he's spoken the truth on Hillary's record, but the mainstream media doesn't want to hear his dissenting voice.

We need his National Initiative so we can take away some of the other 3 branches' power. Things are FAR too skewed against us now. posted 03/24/2008 at 14:58:53
