Doug Russell is an Irish-American 3rd-generation Californian born in 1942. He is a life-long resident of the greater Los Angeles area, married to a Filipina, and has 4 grown children: a daughter, a step-daughter and 2 step-sons; and 4 grandchildren. His interests include personal and spiritual growth, humor, classical music, human behavior, and healthy aging. Soon to be retired from a career as a psychotherapist and hospital social worker, he has done program and staff development in health care settings, psychotherapist training programs, and an MBA program. In the 1980s he wrote and edited articles on growth-oriented psychology. In the late 90s he learned database programming and wrote software for tracking hospital social services. Since 2000, he has been a Board Member of the Society for Social Work Leaders in Health Care. He currently serves on the Steering Committee of a non-commercial website dedicated to health education, www.helpguide.org where he has worked as a writer/editor. He is a fan of populist and progressive leaders and causes.
