Rumsfeld On 2006 Election: "The Correction For That...Is An Attack"

Rumsfeld offers that the American people lack "the maturity to recognize the seriousness of the threats." What's to be done? According to Rumsfeld, "The correction for that, I suppose, is [another] attack."

Alright! We admit it. The American people are a bunch of wussies who don't have the stomach to live under your 'benevolent' dictatorship, Rummy, and we apologize that you had to be born and live in such a disappointing country. Better luck next time around. Maybe in your next incarnation you'll be born Burmese! posted 05/13/2008 at 20:13:39

Rebranding Republicans

So--according to you, cla62, everything was going just perfectly (well, maybe a minor glitch or two) while the House & Senate rubber-stamped George Bush to his record-breaking low approval rating and the real problems only began after the Dems won some paper-thin majorities in '06? Are you delusional or do you lie for a living? Give it up sweetheart...even Americans are not going to fall for BS like that again. Come back when you've thought up a new lie that is at least within the realm of human possibility. posted 05/13/2008 at 19:59:24

Absolutely, LarksTongue. Just one of a number of things the Democrats have been dragging their feet on. Time to stand up and be a party again or just shut it down altogether. As it stands they are almost useless in their present ghost-like incarnation. Dumping Lieberman (BEFORE he dumps them) would be a good start and a fine signal of coming change. posted 05/12/2008 at 11:50:34

Topless on TV: The Miley Cyrus / Vanity Fair Saga

Not necessarily. Liebovitz is one of the most well-known photographers in the world. If anyone gets rich in that field I would have to imagine that she is one of the ones who is. So money, I would think, falls somewhere down the line in her thinking. She can accept or refuse any assignment since she works independently. There is a point of view and a purpose in the way this photo was staged. You would have to ask her directly for a complete explanation as to what that is in this case. posted 05/04/2008 at 12:51:36
There isn't any question in my mind what this is all about. It's what you might term a drive-by shooting (with a camera) into the world of child porn. Only this little nugget is not something floating around the internet or sitting on the shelves of some triple X store---this one is being dropped right into your living room. The reason? Depends on who you ask.
If I were to guess, I would say Liebovitz did it to poke American hypocrisy on the subject with a stick.
Vanity Fair probably did it for the money. None of these old-line mags are exactly tearing it up (profit-wise) in this new electronic era.
And of course, the ones with the easiest to discern motivations are the Cyrus family. Theirs is a talent (apparently family-wide) that is made to be exploited fast and hard, cause it isn't made to last long and good. Show them the money. As much as possible and right now. They will worry about the ethics of it later--most probably from the living room of a mansion in Los Angeles. posted 05/02/2008 at 14:24:31

"I'm sure he can handle the heat but why would she want to apply it for the republicans?"
Because she wants the position just as much as he does and feels that she would be just as good or better than Obama. That's the whole point of having a campaign. You get to watch both candidates under pressure and see how they deal. Many people right now are watching Sen. Clintons performance over the last few weeks and they have decided that they do not care for her for various reasons. These are probably things that would not have come out and been so visible without a campaign. Unfortunately, it is impossible to avoid giving the appearance that it helps the Republicans. And it might, but not as much as some people think, I suspect. Every crappy, low down thing that these two might come up with about each other could and would be thought of by the Republicans. As I say, I just think that the winner will be that much stronger for the experience and MORE ready to deal with the Repugs having gone through this now. It might also be a good idea if it were pointed out to both sides that it might be a benefit to both of them if more of the fire from both of them were directed at McCain--it's going to benefit one of them in the future. posted 03/27/2008 at 22:09:10
If you can't handle the heat in this round, how are you going to survive when you take on the world champs of low down mud slinging in the next round? Competition does not hurt. It helps to insure that the best candidate is left in the end and that that candidate is as strong as they can possibly be.
