I was born in Germany in 1966. My first "experience" with politics was in 1969, when my mom campaigned for the German FDP (Free Democratic Party, which back then was a very progressive party). Througout my childhood I helped my mom hand out political flyers.. etc. This early influence turned me onto politics and I enjoy reading and following politics.
I am convinced, that in a representative Democracy, it is important to take a pragmatic approach to voting and not so much an idealistic or emotional one. Although I have been disappointed by politics and politicians in the past, I refuse to become a cynic. I think that if we, the people pull together and watch our leaders and remain alert, politics will have a good effect on our society.
