The Spirit of Voltaire rises yet again.
I will be the first to admit that I am a limousine liberal. I sit on a corporate board, have grown children and grandchildren and a wife whom I love dearly. My life is pretty good by my standards.
However, I realize that there are many who do not enjoy the same privileges which I do. I know at my age that the respect for the needs of the disadvantaged and the urgency to ensure all my countrymen a place of equality is what is known as justice.
I oppose any effort from the regressive political Right in this country to obstruct this vision of America which I believe is the essence of our democracy.
