JPMorgan Chase CEO: Recession Just Beginning

How come these bankers and investment firm executives aren't in jail? Oh I forgot, BIll Clinton made it legal for them to ruin the country in 1999 with the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act. While we're all drowning in the sea of debt the bankers made a bunch of money on, these executives will be collecting their massive paychecks and golden parachutes.....some country the US has become. posted 05/12/2008 at 21:54:34

Growing Deficits Threaten Pensions

No. Its not the accounting practices of state and local governments, its their trusting banks not to wrap these funds up with toxic subprime, alt-A and a plethora of other worthless investments. The banks and investment firms have done this. The great lie of distributing risk of crap loan by mixing it with viable investment capital will do it all in. Too bad the Washington Post can't identify the truth instead point the finger at state governments instead of Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, CitiCorp, WaMu, BofA, Wachovia, et al with the passing of Gramm-Leach-Bliley in 1999 posted 05/11/2008 at 11:27:04

House GOP: Can it Get Any Worse

With republicans in power it will only get worse for America's future, not that I believe the democrats are not bribed by the same economic forces that bribe republicans (the economic terrorists called lobbyists). Whatever funding shortfalls for social security or medicare, the GOP has squandered it all on useless war profiteering to the tune of $3 trillion, but GOP will continue to claim some lame excuse about democrats being tax and spenders who actually balanced a budget and left a surplus. The GOP never makes sense, they criticize 'big government' and taxes like banshees in heat, then the GOP get a majority and they make government bigger than ever and squander tax money like high school students given an unlimited credit card....leaving the tab on tax payers....or in actuality most tax payers kids and grandkids while good jobs flee the country by the millions.

the GOP is a greater threat to the US national security than anything else in this world....or the next. posted 05/11/2008 at 10:43:08

Vallejo's Bankruptcy Might Have Been Prevented

As a private sector employee for my entire career, I have felt the very damaging effects of Mr. NAFTA/CAFTA and therefore do not support a clinton. I fully expect the GOP to obfuscate the entire topic of government employees when the extent of damage to municipalities really shows itself around the country (coming soon to a theater near all of us) saying such nonsense as 'it doesn't work' or 'privatization is better' which is a total lie through and through. In the private sector, profit MARGINS are typically 40 to 70% for government contracts....for some greedy reason moderate profit margins are not acceptable to the private sector. So anything 'privatized' will mean the public will get less results for a lot more money.
The federal government needs real leadership in economic policy nationally and internationally.....and we have NONE doing the right thing...it is truly pathetic and frightening. posted 05/11/2008 at 11:20:59

Why an Economic Turn for the Better? It's Government, Stupid.

Milton was an economic quack and always was. He must have been created by the fascist forces that got defeated in WWII to take down the US. I expect my barbarous relic investments in precious metals will be doing fine for some time since I don't see any manufacturing really picking up in the US, until then...its a fiat economy. posted 05/05/2008 at 12:03:33
Milton Freidman was a quack for the git go. Its not 'floating exchange rates', it is sinking exchange rates and has been since 1971. As more and more manufacturing capability continues to leave the US, the trade deficit gets bigger and bigger in spite of the debasing of the currency by Bernanke. Every fiat currency in the world manipulates its currency to try to get favorable conditions for themselves therefore 'free markets' cannot possibly exist (i.e. yuan pegged to the dollar, some float there..NOT). The only question remains is how long and how bad will the situation become before the freidmanite true believers realize they've been had, big time. posted 05/03/2008 at 13:01:02

free enterprise, yeah right. Fire the American workers and ship manufacturing to 3rd world countries and exploit the poverty there, then ship the crap back to the US to suck the economic life out of the nation and crush domestic competition at the same time. Jimmy Carter Won't Endorse Until Convention

Jimmy is probably the least evil of the still living presidents or ex presidents but all it takes for evil to thrive is good men do nothing....Jimmy wants to help evil along. posted 04/13/2008 at 16:29:59

GE's Shocking Tumble: Analysts React

Bring lots of good jobs back to the US, it will change for the better and pay the slave labor forces around the world excellent wages instead of nominally above subsistence wages. posted 04/11/2008 at 12:42:09

Secret Military Gear Found For Sale On eBay, Craigslist

Of course record foreclosures and job losses aren't sensitive, but we're 'safe' from the boogeyman. posted 04/11/2008 at 12:59:47

Feeble GE Profits Shake Markets

Its called blowback from decades of Milton Freidman quack theories. GE may layoff here then outsource over to some labor market elsewhere but it won't help anything. US goes down, China and the rest of them will too even if they change their currency pegs. Those countries are not autonomous from the US no matter what the economics hacks want to us to believe. 5 cent/hr labor will buy nothing but food for their tables. The politicians have put Freidman theories into the financial markets and the end result is destroyed confidence and credit worthiness and ultimately bankruptcy. It doesn't work and will never work profitably except for a very short period of time. posted 04/11/2008 at 12:51:30

Soros: Credit Crunch Is "Biggest Financial Crisis Of My Lifetime"

I don't have my Eull Gibbons books anymore unfortunately. But there is a lot of land, elk and cattle down at my bro-in-laws home down the street. Now if I can figure out a means for generating power for freezers we might be able to survive the worst of it....been looking at little steam engines fired up by wood. Simple engines but require stoking the fire, primitive, old technology but hey, what else is there except perhaps human powered generators to store energy in batteries. posted 04/11/2008 at 12:29:12
Milton Freidman was an economics quack, how much damage must be done before the economists and their philosophical minions and foot soldiers shed their seriously flawed, if not purely evil ideology? posted 04/11/2008 at 12:06:16

Al Gore Unveils New Slideshow: Watch Video

I would like to see Al go on over to China and tell them to 'go green' to save the planet from impending doom after China's has gotten so much of our manufacturing facilities. Al would be laughed at right off the continent. posted 04/11/2008 at 11:53:36
