Obama's Clinton Dilemma

Obama - Hill, it's been fun, but its over. I'll pay your campaign debts if you drop out now, but not if you wait more than a week. And you and Bill gotta work it like you mean it - for me and Richardson in the Fall. posted 05/07/2008 at 16:29:31

Iraq: Whose Ox Is Gored?

CornellRedneck:

OK, who is it OK for us to torture? Pirates, murderers, thugs, hookers, congressmen... (Please, not hookers). Please provide a list of tortureable classes of people and your legal precedents (excluding anything related to Bush 43). When the Japanese water boarded during WW II, we prosecuted that as a war crime. What has changed?

What is your justification for torture?

Or is it a basic moral principle that torture is always wrong, and/or a fact that the confessions obtained by torture are rarely true? Or that allowing our guys to torture legitimizes the bad guys doing bad things to our guys when they get captured... posted 04/26/2008 at 16:24:23

One Dozen Governments Will Fall

Ethanol has been horribly handled. The Brazilians use sugar cane (12 times better?) to make it. In the US, the subsidies paid to sugar companies make the US price of sugar twice what it is in the international market - and unprofitable to make ethanol. And we tax imported ethanol at 53 cents a gallon. posted 04/26/2008 at 11:55:37

What Does the Petraeus Appointment Mean?

It means war with Iran, that's what it means. Actually, we'll bomb them - and then they'll bomb us with smaller bombs all over the place for years after. Oil will cost what - $250 a barrel? Food riots, wholesale inflation, more money spent on war... Remember the Great Depression? If we bomb, bomb. bomb Iran, it'll seem like a cakewalk compared to the world after war with Iran. posted 04/23/2008 at 13:48:57

Guess Who's Been Negotiating with a Terrorist?

The Iranians haven't really done anything hostile to us since the embassy thing in - what, the 70s? I'm astonished at the continued demonization of Iran by Bush. On 9/11, Tehran held a huge candlelight vigil to show sympathy. They cooperated with us when we went into Afghanistan - and then Bush declared them to be in the Axis of Evil!

OK, they want nukes - wouldn't you, if India and Pakistan and Israel have them too? BTW, they didn't say that Israel should be wiped off the face of the Earth - they said that the regime in Israel should be changed. Sound familiar?

And who stopped the latest tragedy in Basra? Iran - the terrorists - negotiated the end to violence.

Not Until the Fat Lady Sings

(Really trying hard not to be abusive)
The reason that Hillary should be asked to drop out (perhaps by a mass migration of superdelegates) is not that she is a bad candidate - the Dems are blessed with two great candidates - but that she has turned into a bad Democrat when confronted with a better candidate.

Saying that the Republican nominee is a better choice than the presumptive Democratic nominee is - well, treason! Hillary - you should quit before you lose your future appeal.

Can you just see John McCain's commercials this fall starring Hillary? Something like "McCain has passed the CinC test, I have, and Obama hasn't", "McCain has the experience, I have the experience, Obama has a speech", and Bill's "Hillary and McCain are patriotic." posted 04/02/2008 at 11:18:34

No, No, No. A Senior Lecturer is - a Senior Lecturer. They are not eligible for tenure. And they certainly do not have a position of Full Professor!!

Clinton, Obama Press for Texas Delegates

This page does say that Clinton would pick up 178 delegates and 15 superdelegates, while Obama would pick up 67 delegates and 5 superdelegates out of MI and FL.

HOWEVER, does it sound remotely possible that she gets 75% of the delegates??? That does not sound logical to me.

Oh, and the Hillary is trailing by 46, not 2, even by these numbers. posted 03/30/2008 at 14:31:19

Should Obama Drop Out of the Race?

Interesting - rational thought on HuffPo! Well said, ClairP! posted 03/29/2008 at 17:42:01
Clinton should give up because:
1). She will have fewer delegates at the convention.
2). She will have fewer popular votes by the time of the convention.
3). She will have one path - Tonya Harding and back rooms - to the nomination. If it's taken from Obama in the back rooms, McCain will probably win.

University Of Chicago: Obama Was A Professor

As an academic, I can tell you that there is a difference between Senior Lecturers and Professors. Hillary's Bosnia Boast -- Not a Big Deal

We are judging her for what she is - a liar! posted 03/29/2008 at 11:29:58
Some lies are worse than others. In this case, Hillary was inflating her "experience", which is one of the cornerstones of her campaign against Obama.
1). This casts serious doubt on her "experience". What's left now - hosting tea for the Arab women who aren't allowed in the same room with infidels? Clearing the aisles in a Wal-Mart?
2). Experience is a really dumb thing to compare against McCain.

Like the US in Iraq, Hillary would be wise to quit while she's behind. posted 03/28/2008 at 00:33:22

The Wheels Come Off -- Again

Has Hillary turned down the endorsement by Ann Coulter?

The candidate is responsible for their campaign, not their supporters. Wright is Obama's spiritual adviser in his campaign. Hagee is a supporter; McCain did accept the endorsement, but Hillary did not comment on Coulter, as far as I know, making him more "responsible" for their support.

The relevant comparison is with McCain's spiritual adviser, Parsley, who wants to destroy Islam as a false religion. Now we see where McCain gets his inspiration. posted 03/23/2008 at 12:03:50
