Hillary Should Stay in Because She Can

Hillary Clinton's stubborness, no matter its cause, seems like such a profitless enterprise. If she wins, we lose. If she loses, we win. In any event, the Republicans hope she's the one they oppose and not Barack Obama. You see, to their mind, it would be hard to point a finger at a man who's never supped out of the D.C. trough. posted 05/16/2008 at 02:49:22

Einstein Letter: Belief In God "Childish," Jews Not Chosen People

The Einstein letter: "Belief in God "Childish" . . . only addresses the fact that when one of the sharpest minds of the twentieth century is revealed, concerning religion, then coming to any other conclusion would seem not only awkward but ludicrous. posted 05/14/2008 at 02:24:33

Bush: I Gave Up Golf For The Troops

"George Bush gave up golf for the troops." Let me repeat that: George Bush gave up golf for the troops!? If tragedy were comedy, this would be a funny skit for Saturday Night Live. However, since this tragedy is not comedy ... my heart goes out to the men and women in uniform!

Their sacrifices come at high cost. The cost of doing their duty. The cost of having an incompetent Commander and Chief, whose deceit, and whose corruption knows no boundary or decency. posted 05/14/2008 at 02:11:40

In Defense of Being Educated

Having just watched a special documentary about west Virginia occupants, I am struck by the correlation between those in support of the (Republican-endorsed) mining interests and those who are in support of Hillary Clinton.

However, both the mining interests -- who make no apologies for poisoning drinking water, contaminating soil and fouling the air -- and Hillary Clinton, seem to share striking similarities in their arguments.

One threatens that environmentalists seek to take away the jobs of those who strip-mine, and the other wants to ensure that their jobs remain secure. Neither mining officials or Hillary Clinton will ever have to drink anything but purified or bottled water.

Neither will have any children play in contaminated grounds, or swim in brown and blackened ponds. Neither will have their friends and family members suffer industrial-waste-ridden cancers. Neither will ever have to live like west Virginians who have nowhere else to go, or even if they did, have the kind of money it would take to get there.

I shudder to think what all of that actually means. posted 05/14/2008 at 01:58:47

Truth Alert: McCain's Freudian Slip is Showing (and Very Telling)

John McCain has developed into a sad commentary. He's for it, of course, unless it changes course, and then he's pointed in another direction, following a beneficial wind. Oddly enough, this sounds like Hillary Clinton's line of thinking, along with her actions, along with her plans for the future as long as she's in the running for the President....

I don't find it surprising that each favors a mask to suit their needs, but what is alarming is that people who've supported them, are slow to get the message. They're fakes. Both of them. As artificial as sun lamps on a rainy day.

That said, have a nice one. posted 05/12/2008 at 10:41:28

Gas Tax Holiday Splits Clinton And Obama: Who's Right?

There is another side to this issue that should be addressed. One, Obama takes the long view that will have relevant worth. Clinton just wants those votes coming in, so she'll say and do anything to get them.

One politician believes in sustainable values. The other in the power of sound bites. One is lobbyist picked, the other is a noted enemy of the lobbyist syndicate. Is there a hard choice to make here? posted 04/30/2008 at 07:06:21

So, You Want a Theocracy Now?

Jane, the idea of a separation of church and state is certainly admirable. Unfortunately, a quick study of our history reveals it to be no more than 1700's lip service. Think pluralistic republic. That concept expresses what we have, not what we wish we had. posted 04/30/2008 at 06:35:30

McCain calls Obama insensitive to poor people

John McCain accusing Barack Obama of being insensitive to poor people is ludicrous. The Same Old Story: Discrediting Hillary

What we have here, in Clinton's win in Pennsylvania, is a lack of understanding what the Republicans want. They want to duke it out with Hillary Clinton. Against her they feel they have an even chance, if not better, of keeping the White House, the war, the economic drowning and all the rest of their mistakes to a minimum.

Unfortunately, they're right. The last person they want to take on is Barack Obama. The very last. In fact, if it can be discouraged in the slightest degree they will throw their entire weight against that happening.

It's a lot easier for them to have the pot calling the kettle black, when the pot is smeared with the same tarnish, from the same unwashed trough all of them feed from. Barack Obama, on the other hand, is a different matter. He's a thoughtful visionary that has been sorely lacking in Washington politics since the end of WWII.

I do not believe for an instant that under her, and her husband's guidance that there will be a change in the way Washington does business as usual. She is simply too deep in the pockets of the lobbyists. posted 04/23/2008 at 10:07:22

Obama Draws Largest Crowd Of His Campaign At Philadelphia Rally

When Barack Obama asserts that Hillary and Billary are correct; that he does not have their portfolio for knuckling under to the special interests, largely due to lack of experience, I'm sure that many construe that to be a message of hope.

It would put Hillary and Billary's overweaning ambition to rest. It would uncover John McCain's undoubted credentials for making all the wrong decisions for all the wrong reasons. It would tell the entire world we are not their enemy. That even given the ills a short-sighted government, in the hands of a bunch of thugs may do, we still can repair some of the damage.

In that, there are few better suited than Senator Obama, and those who promote their own agendas ahead of the common good, need to be removed and relegated a place in history as failures. posted 04/20/2008 at 01:49:59

Chelsea Clinton Asked About Monica Lewinsky Again, Watch Video

You see, Chelsea, this is a stink that needs cleaning up. It wouldn't be a stink if it didn't. So here's the question. How does it feel to find yourself between a rock (your mom), and a hard place (your dad), and knowing neither deserves to be anywhere near political power again?

Whatever your answer is, allow me to elaborate. Your mom is angry over your dad's philandering about (how many times?), and even though a normal woman would have given you a hug, said everything was going to be all right, and divorces your dad, she does the opposite.

Hmm.

Then, to make matters more confounding, she hops, skips and jumps over to New York, with a vacant senatorial seat, and immediately sets out to use it as a springboard for the presidency. Seems to me that that is yet another odd issue to mull over.

Which, of course, raises the question of whatever gave her the idea she has the background, the experience, the know-how, the intelligence, the wisdom to be someone who could heal us from horrible wounds?

The fact that she's a woman? Well, Chelsea, I don't want to embarrass you, but your mom is a 'strange' woman. Her resume points that out. What we need is someone who is actually normal. So tell me, how does it feel to find yourself between a.... posted 04/01/2008 at 09:25:46

Clinton Owes Obama An Apology

Keith,
You're missing the point, probably because you have been so close to the Clintons. In a number of stories I've written, the way to uncover clues is to follow the money. Oftentimes that means follow the way to gain power.

Why didn't she divorce her husband? Think about that a moment. Any normal woman would have, unless instead, she needed his support in some future time. Now he's paying off for her saving him from an incredible and scandalous divorce.

Why was this Arkansas woman shopping for a seat on the Senate, and then snapping up the one in New York? Think about that.

What does she have to gain, playing her gender card every chance she gets? Why does she pander to the under-privileged, under-educated, when it is in essence a targeted audience for Republicans?

What does she hope to gain, lying about her background, striving to rewrite her history, and give herself advertising points that simply don't exist?

The questions keep coming on and on, until finally, you are left with one inescapable fact. One upmanship. That's what it's all about. She wants to prove to the world, to her husband, and mostly to herself that she was the power behind the throne ... when in actuality, her place was as insignificant as the First Lady's then, just as it is insignificant as the Senator from New York now. posted 03/27/2008 at 09:37:59
