Bio
My screen name is a typo that Huffpost won't let me correct. It should be Hawley (as in www.HawleyRoddick.com).
The author of four nonfiction books and two novels, I wrote a monthly Cosmopolitan column for seven years. Today, I specialize in helping individuals, families, and independently held businesses preserve their history in commercial or private-edition books and on CDs.
My literary agent represents my two new books: (1) written with pianist Claude Frank, his life story, The Music That Saved My Life: From Hitler's Germany to the World's Concert Stages; (2) with Karen Silk, our joint memoir, Gay Husbands and Fathers: Straight Talk from Two Former Wives.
I graduated from Wellesley College and from New Trier High School (in Winnetka, IL). For twenty years, I gave WriteAssets(R) Workshops for professional communicators in both academic and corporate settings. I am a member of the Authors Guild and am listed in Who's Who in America. Articles about my work have appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Jose TimesTribune, Napa Valley Register, Stanford Magazine, and elsewhere.
I now live in the San Francisco Bay Area but also lived for many years in Manhattan and have been fortunate to live also in Rome, Bodega Bay, Santa Fe, and Santa Barbara.
