Does Obama Even Need The Jewish Vote?
I agree with you that blacks face some institutional racism. But blacks also need to take responsibilities for their actions. Just a little example -- I was at an inner city fruit and vegetable shop run by some Korean immigrants. A black lady and her kids in front of me were loudly munching on grapes as they waited on line to pay for them. By the time they got to the cashier, the grapes in the basket were mostly gone. The owner subsequently told me that this is the cost of doing business in the neighborhood -- if they had complained they would be harrassed. I think you would agree that the black lady's behavior makes blacks look bad. What's worse is that she was setting a bad example for her kids. While she is obviously not representative of blacks in American, you don't need too many people like her to build a negative image. Even Obama said that his grandma felt unsafe seeing a young black man around her. The sad truth is that we see so many crime stories committed by blacks, especially black on black. We can all blame these issues on historical and social injustice/racism, but blacks need to stand up and take more responsibilities. This logic is so sick...what if I say that the tape was doctored by Obama's camp, and the Obama camp further accuses Clinton of being behind it, such that Obama get to attack Clinton twice -- first with the tape showing Clinton aide as a racist, then accusing Clinton of playing dirty with the doctored tape.
The fact is until you can prove that Clinton camp did it, you are just playing dirty by accusing Clinton of doing it. You gotta understand the power of first impression is so strong that subsequent clarifications often do not sink in. So if Clinton were to doctored the tape in the first place, it would have hurt her campaign more as voters most like would remember the footage on the tape rather than the subsequent discovery that it was doctored.
You Obama followers talk a good game about not playing politics, yet stoop lower than even Karl Rove. It is a fact that smoking causes more illness and therefore raises the medical liability for the society in general. As such, it is not unreasonable to ask smokers to pay a higher premium for health insurance since it's a behavior that can be modified. It's not fair to ask non-smokers to share smokers' higher medical liability.
It's unfortunate that those 39 workers may lose their job, but they knowingly lied and they are now made examples to those who may think of lying about their smoking status.

Thank you, coolrepublica for pointing out that the problem is not "bitterness", but lumping religion with racisim/anti-immigration/anti-trade sentiments. Obama basically implied that hunters and church goers do so because they are bitter about the state of the economy. Well, I thought people have been hunting and going to church even when times were good. He might as well call himself a Marxist and propose the old Soviet Union as our model government -- workers of the world unite to form a prolitariat paradise free of religion and guns! Don't foreget that liberal politicians forced the Community Reinvestment Act on banks so that they had to lend money to some unqualified buyers. I have seen banks sued for being too tight on their lending standards (viewed as discrimitory). You really think Bush was responsible for speculators who bought houses beyond their means? Of course, now the liberals just want governments to bail out these speculators. As a hardworking, tax paying and money saving home owner, I find it disgusting that the government will use my tax dollars as incentives to force banks to reduce the mortgage amount that speculators owe. Who is going to help me lower my mortgage? My property value has also come down but I am not getting any help because I have been a responsible homeowner. So let's get our facts straight and don't just whine like babies for government help and blame all ills on GWB. If we assume on average houses are owned for 7 years and that 70% of households own a house, it means that on average only 10% of houses change hands each year, or 20% over 2 years. So even in normal times 80% of American won't buy a home in the next 2 years. Well said, Mediahack. CNN's bias makes me sick as much as Fox's overt bias for the right wing. I think people facing economic hardship have the right to be bitter, but Obama is wrong to say the bitterness push them into guns, religions, anti-immigration and anti-trade sentiments. People hunt and go to church for reasons other than being bitter. People could take stance against immigration and trades (rightly or wrongly) for reasons other than being bitter. Obama's remark was very condescending...pretty much like his spiritual advisor's outrageous remarks that Whites invented AIDS to kill minorities and other craps. Obama's comment is very revealing about his inner thoughts -- he is a cocky Ivy-league educated lawyer who only joined the black church for political expediency. You "little jealousy people" need a little education on tax filing extension. Most wealthy investors file for extension because the required K1 statements from investment partnerships usually don't arrive by 4/15. But they still need to complete the filing by 10/15, which is before the general election. So there is really nothing wrong with filing for tax extension -- they do not determine that; it's determined by timing of when they receive their K1 statements. You would have to do the same if you made a lot of money...and there is nothing wrong with it.
