Hillary, you've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run...

Hillary's refusal to deal with the reality on the ground, and just plow ahead until something breaks her way, is a stark demonstration of her stubborn stay-the-course pigheadedness, and goes a long way in explaining her many lapses of sound judgment - a personality trait eerily familiar to a certain George W. Right, Bush Republicans have been protected from honest debate by a very well orchestrated propaganda machine - if someone challenges their rationale on an issue, up pops the machine like an impenetrable force field to deflect any meaningful exchange, typically concluding with a return volley to attack and discredit the messenger.

Those mad, mad days are waning, in large part due to Barack Obama's insistence on raising the level of debate and his ability to hold true to that tenet through thick and thin.

Honest debate to Republicans is like water to the wicked witch of the west, it'll kill them dead in their tracks. posted 05/17/2008 at 10:12:21

Electing Sweetie

Erica, this would have made an excellent argument in 1880, but alas it is not and your bitter feminist-partisanship rant is an disturbingly ugly sight to see - I am empathetic to your anger, but I completely disagree with the premise of your argument that Americans support Barack Obama because he is a nice guy, or any other such shallow reason - your argument is wrought with pure unadulterated deep seeded emotion and very little in the way of fact or common sense.

Of course there are people who make their voting decisions based upon surface issues such as looks, gender, national origin and the like, that's not new news to any one, nor is that a point of dispute (and believe me many of us share that very same frustration with such nitwits) - what is in dispute, and where I believe you are wrong, is the ratio of nitwit voters to issues voters - you say high and I say low - and if I am right, then you owe your fellow citizens an apology for shoving us all into one tiny little box and otherwise selling us short.

Speaking for myself, I support Barack Obama because of the direction he wants to take the country - conversely I am not supporting Hillary Clinton because of her voting record and rhetoric surrounding wars of aggression in the Middle East - honest to God, end of story, nothing up my sleeve, that"s the long and the short of it, posted 05/16/2008 at 13:58:06

Swiftboating has run its course as a political weapon, it worked wonders in the 2004 presidential contest because Dems were not prepared for it and it showed, their delayed response turned out to be a fatal error in that it fueled speculation that the attacks could be true, once that cat got out of the bag there was no turning back.

That's all changed now, Dems are now poised to jump all over such attacks and crush them like bugs - so I hope that the GOP spends hundreds of millions of dollars on sophisticated swiftboat campaigns, for they will be largely ineffective, and very likely even damaging to the GOP.
