JFRED is Dr. J. Fred MacDonald, professor emeritus of History at Northeastern Illinois University (1969-1996), and owner and CEO of Chicago-based MacDonald & Associates, one of the world's largest commercial archives of historical film footage. Educated at the University of California, Berkeley (BA and MA) and UCLA (Ph.D.), Dr, MacDonald is the author of six books on the social, political, and cultural history of broadcasting in the United States.
