Does Obama Even Need The Jewish Vote?

It bothers me how the media has systematically fragmented our citizens in the midst of a campaign where "Candidate Obama" wants to unify the country and bring about much needed change.

Yes, Senator Obama needs the Jewish vote ... aren't Jewish citizens, American voters as well. For the task before everyone of us, every vote counts.

It seems an early task for President Obama may become HEALING from this systemic racial and gender division under the guise of journalism and campaign strategy.

Over 30,000 American military injured. Over 4,000 dead... and I see the faces of these young people who deserve a more intelligent conversation over issues facing America. This "dumb" war has serious implications for our economy (paid $3.97.5 a gallon at the pump yesterday) ... a plummeting dollar around the world; you get the picture... posted 05/14/2008 at 14:59:28
With God's help we will have a president who has a vision and will to take us forward as a unified country next year. Hopefully, this president will be a person of integrity, intelligence and character. I'm glad you recognize a flag pin does not make one more American than another. For the record, Mrs. Obama's sacrifice of her husband's time and safety and lofty commitment of her husband to campaign for the presidency, is a true act of American patriotism.

Sometimes, youth blinds us to the value and worth of truth. After four years of an administration marked by lies and mistruths and deception, we cannot afford another administration of the same... particularly with the history of lies she and the former president have already established.

Keep living and soon you will understand the importance of being a truthful person. posted 05/14/2008 at 14:50:27

Clinton's Big Win Doesn't Really Matter

This race is bigger than Senators Obama or Clinton.

When I have to sit and force myself to look at the scarred and disfigured face of a young solider horrifically wounded in Iraq and return home where his stricken parents must fight/advocate for medical treatment, my focus is on ending the Bush era and its politics of war and error. It's unpatriotic to not medically support wounded veterans!

Like other Americans, to pull up to a gas pump and pay $3.97.5 a gallon to fuel my vehicle, my focus is on ending the Bush era and its politics of favor towards big oil companies.

Everyday of my life is a struggle to meet the medical and healthcare needs of a child with severe disabilities as the insurance companies and pharmaceutical corporations gross profits increase. Again, my focus is on ending the Bush era and what began with NAFTA to reward corporate executives whilst squeezing the workers.

It's personal for me and if Senator Clinton were in Senator Obama's position, I would support her candidacy because my focus is on ending the Bush era which Senator McCain will with certainty embrace and continue. It's the issues I care about! posted 05/14/2008 at 15:47:25
What matters is that Senator McBush, sorry Candidate McCain has major stories breaking regarding lobbyist influence with his campaign and there is hardly any coverage because Senator Clinton is more a distraction than anything else.

For the good of the party, she needs to concede and she doesn't have the balls to do so, then the superdelegates need to cast their votes now and put an end to this futile "fight."

It's time for the Democratic Party leaders to LEAD with some meaningful strategy and stop given John McCain a free walk! Democracy does not translate into foolishness. posted 05/14/2008 at 15:15:31
Interesting enough, I'm told by a WV resident, West Virginians will vote for McCain over any minority (Including female) candidate this fall. In fact, Senator Clinton's support was more anti-minority man than we love Senator Clinton.

Reid Rebuffs Idea Of Senate Majority Leader Clinton

There was a tiredness I recall feeling when Bill Clinton finally left the White House ... and I liked President Clinton. Aside from his lack of personal discipline and weak character which made it too easy for the Republicans to constantly go after him; he performed well (other than the mess with NAFTA too).

Today, an identical tiredness for anything Clinton is what I feel. They remind me of friends you like, however the intensity of their approach and relentless "nagging" wears you down ... I guess they fall under toxic relationships.

Senator Reid may soon have not just a 66 percent majority in the Senate, but a President who embodies leadership and resonates unity ... giving us all a Congress ready to put our country back on track. posted 05/12/2008 at 22:44:29

US Casualties to date: 29,395 wounded; 4,064 Dead according to Global Security.com.

This is real; this is what matters and for Senator Liberman to waste time and energy with some ridiculous attempt to insult our citizens by linking his colleague, Senator Obama with Hamas is inexcusable; campaign or no campaign.

On Friday past, I forced myself to watch a news story depicting a wounded veteran who has endured over ninety surgeries. His facial deformity took away my breath and for many of the medical services he required, his dad became his primary advocate to fight against our government to help this young man. This sophmoric bantering by our leaders and irresponsible goading of leaders from foreign lands must cease. Fortunately, when President Bush leaves office the cowboy mentality will end and we will return to an intelligent dialogue of our differences and end some of these hostilities. posted 05/12/2008 at 20:50:43

Emanuel Says Kennedy Clinton Comments Out Of Line

At the costly risk of "in-fighting" Democrats must move carefully. Senator Kennedy, as a senior member of the Party rightfully denounced Senator Clinton's remarks and for the good of the party. Her lingering efforts to destroy not simply her opponent, but the MOVEMENT for change disqualifies her for VP consideration.

Representative Emanuel in all likelihood understands Democrats cannot stay the course if Senator Clinton continues with her divisive attempts at undermining Senator Obama's and the Democratic Party. It's time for the "fighter" to abandon this course of destruction and cause even greater divisions in the party.

President Obama would never get any sleep ... forget about the 3 a.m. call.

I firmly believe Mrs. Clinton is not a racist; she is an opportunist. Her willingness to polarize voters and purposely cause division along racial and gender lines is problematic. There have been numerous opportunities for both the Clintons to take the high road, where Mr. Obama tried to keep this campaign, and not make race an issue over the war, economy, environment, etc. When the Clinton campaign thought the opportunity to use race as a means to garner more votes, they invoked race.

For the overall demeanor of her campaign, if she were a racist, I would understand much of what has been said and done.

Bottom line, her poorly run campaign and by a bunch of nuckleheads who lacked character and integrity, has been a disservice to her and the Democratic Party. posted 05/11/2008 at 19:07:26
It is my opinion Mrs. Clinton chose her words very carefully.

The senator's comments were intentionally directed to West Virginian's: Less than 15 percent hold a Bachelor's degree or higher. Furthermore; non-Hispanic White Persons make up 94 percent of its population (2006 Census); Median Household Income 2004, $33,993.

Kentucky: 17.1 percent of its citizens hold a Bachelor's degree or higher; 2006 Census, 90.2 percent Non-Hispanic White Persons make up population; Median Household Income 2004, $37,046.

It's not a far-stretch to believe Mrs. Clinton's great racial divide was her attempt to speak directly, but with some subtleness to our fellow Americans who might, in the absence of education and exposure, expressed themselves better with acts of prejudice in contrast to those who enjoy arugula (add some fresh basil leaves, heirloom tomatoes, a sprinkle of Feta and a good balsamic for a refreshing salad).

It's unfortunate Mrs. Clinton or any other political leader in our country would resort to such acts of self-defamation to encourage bigotry. Mr. Edwards had his moment of a profile in courage by strongly speaking against such race-baiting; instead he chose to make light of a very disturbing trend. Shame on both of them and certainly, I trust Mr. Obama's judgment to exclude either of these people as VP running mate. posted 05/11/2008 at 17:53:05

Mrs. Clinton has stirred up enough animosity independent of the Huffington Post or any other media outlet.

As a long-time admirer of Mrs. Clinton, I hope she is able to read and gauge the true importance of words, her words and the ultimate cost to her character for the horrific display of intentional divisiveness by her campaign.

After her interview today with USA Today, I needed this forum!!! posted 05/09/2008 at 00:48:51
It seems more appropriate at this time that Senator McCain and former President William Jefferson Clinton should assist Senator Clinton in "raising money through signed appeals, joint fundraisers and by other methods" to pay off her debt.

Her class and racially divisive comments today resulted in me removing both she and her husband's books from my book shelf. If there is a lesson for her loss, it is to fight with some grace and dignity.

In conversation with other supporters of Senator Obama today, there is a consensus first, DON'T TRUST HER AND MARK PENN, secondly ... if Senator Obama is really about change, just as he refused to pass out "street money" in PA, he should refuse to bail her out. There is an excellent article in today's Chicago Tribune questioning voters who seemingly ignore Senator Clinton's fictions

It seems we can't get away from the math in this election and continue to embrace fear wasting valuable energy and time guessing what the Republican Party may or may not do against either Democrat. The sheer numbers, the historical number of citizens participating in the Democratic primary will easily offset any plan or strategy of the Republicans with a candidate they are supporting with a lukewarm embrace.

However, IF the Democratic process to elect the nominee is not viewed as fair and democratic, then I agree the anger, frustration, etc., will cause a greater divide and McBush may waltz into the White House. Why the media chooses to portray this as a racial issue, is myopic journalists who see with only one eye open. Messrs. Gore and Kerry carried the "black vote," and like other voters, blacks felt disenfranchised just as other Democrats.

Quite frankly, Bush can't get out fast enough; the thought of McCain extending the Bush years, has me nearly wiped out. Hillary Clinton Raises $10 Million After Pennsylvania Win

Regarding the wasted energy of hateful comments and all the personal attacks ... I agree it does not help the party. Some of what I read is the frustration of having leaders who lack integrity and would not know the truth if it offered them money.

Unfortunately, Senator Clinton has misrepresentated herself on major issues, as our outgoing president did and will continue down the Pinocchio (sp) road. She took credit for the SCHIP bill; She embellished a hospital drama involving a pregnant woman; she embellished her experience in Bosnia ... These are serious character flaws and after nearly eight years of half-truths and misrepresentation, personally ... I've had enough.

Likewise, and most important for me; her failure to read the National Intelligence Estimate Report prior to casting a vote to go the war. Every member of Congress who did not read this report and voted for WAR should get fired for derelection of duty. Perhaps greater than race or gender, RELIGION IS THE GREAT DIVIDE in our America. McCain will not get much pressure to denounce this most hateful and hate-filled man; rather he will find a way to diminish Hagee's visibility (which is a difficult task considering Hagee's love of the attention). The difference between Hagee and a Wright is the latter views his anger as righteous anger for the bigotry he has suffered through his life as a black man. On the other hand, Hagee is simply hateful.

Approximately 10 years ago, I awaken on a Sunday late morning to this man blaring hateful comments regarding then President Bill Clinton and his wife. In what he perceived as a joke, Hagee told a story depicting the death of these two human beings. It was the most shocking thing I'd ever heard from anyone, especially a minister, and the loud, corporate laughter from his audience/congregation was just as unbelievable. Committed that day to never listen to another word from his lips.

Organized religion has removed empathy, common sense, compassion and spirituality from an unspeakable and all encompassing love from God ... the creator of life: my personal belief. Organized religion is a major politic in our body of politics and McCain is betting there is a greater number of Evangelicals who agree with Hagee than Catholics. Obama Criticizes Debate, Attacks Clinton For Being "In Her Element"

The true test of how good Mr. Clinton's policies were for America, came (like any other president) after he left office.

While I will argue the benefits of NAFTA and the necessity of America participating in a global economy (we ought to have lead this growth), the application of the program actually hurt our citizens. Corporate executives were provided tax breaks and other incentives to phase out manufacturing plants and even less incentive to re-train American workers. Those who have and continue to benefit most from what we viewed as properous times are corporate executives, including high-end investors; this group is well represented by lobbyists with special interests well-served by both the Clinton and Bush Administrations.

Arguably, a lot of distractions to President Clinton further advancing his good intentions, were thwarted by a hostile Republican Congress. However, his lack of character and personal discipline or integrity served the Republican cause well. posted 04/18/2008 at 13:29:37

ABC Debate: High Ratings, Critics Give Broadcast Poor Reviews

To my surprise, several Clinton supporters today called and are now non-Clinton supporters. I am still trying to understand WHY. It appears neither candidate was served well by the flimsy questions. posted 04/17/2008 at 19:33:48

George Stephanopoulos Defends ABC Debate Peformance

I too wanted Senator Obama to take these two buffoons to task over this most ridiculous line of nonsense questioning, however had he, Senator Clinton (in all probability) would have pointed her finger at him and said "see I told you he was an elitist." Senator McCain would have issued a "My Friend" statement supporting his friend and the media would have further parlayed STUCK ON STUPID for the next 3 days.

What a conundrum ... posted 04/17/2008 at 16:12:28

What If ABC Held a Debate, but Forgot to Show Up?

After Gibson's performance last night with little George in tow, I am convinced more than ever the media is STUCK ON STUPID.

When the Bush years are fully memorialized and historians evaluate how America screwed up with this occupation in Iraq, costing us incalculable loss in lives, pain and suffering to the injured men and women returning home and their families, as well enough debt for at least the next two generations of Americans, the media will have played a significant role in the Bush/Cheny debacle and deception.

ABC owes both Senators Clinton and Obama an apology as well an explanation to the viewers who took valuable personal time to watch this debacle. Does ABC "read" the news? How did a "respectable" established news organization like ABC come to feel a need to further add to the Bush years of "dumbing-down America?" These moderators contributed nothing to this election process except to parenthetically demonstrate many news corporations set an agenda versus reporting the news. Last night's demonstration left me BITTER!!!!

Who won last night, I hope Katie Couric. posted 04/17/2008 at 12:57:16

Pennsylvania Debate Live Updates: ABC Hosts April 16 Democratic Debate

What was ABC's role tonight ... to have spent over an hour on non-issues was inexcusable. Charlie Gibson and George S. hosted the worse debate ever. These two should have watched Tim Russert and learned from him ... posted 04/16/2008 at 22:43:52

I Was There: What Obama Really Said About Pennsylvania

Dear Mr. Coleman:

The media, with its pressing need to capture headlines for viewership (Huffington Post included), readership, ratings, etc., often appears as if they are STUCK ON STUPID. It is quite unfortunate, the accountability is missing and not required, particularly by the respective audiences.

If the presidency of George W. Bush has taught America anything it is the importance of appropriately placing value on societal issues which are critical to the well-being of all its citizens. Quite honestly, the greatest change a President Obama will bring is someone who is smart and intelligent, insightful, a man of character who thinks before he speaks and possessive of a passion to restore America to its greatness.

I would not count on the media to responsibly report your more comprehensive account of this meeting (some redemption for Huffington Post for this printing). Perhaps Mr. Obama's staff can work this into a "What Was Really Said in SanFrancisco" leaflet and get it to the folks of PA before next Tuesday.

Again, thank you. posted 04/17/2008 at 15:58:49

Here We Go Again

What is more upsetting is Senators Clinton and McCain who both hedge their bets on PA citizens perceived inability to recognize and agree with the truth. They play into the unwarranted fears and prejudices of the so-called "blue-collar workers" to continue their socio-economic plunge at the bequest of special interests and are in fact counting again on the perceived prejudices, bigotry and fears politicians rely on. How American is it to count on ignorance as your strong suit?

I've met wonderful, engaging and intelligent people from PA; certainly, I hope Pennsylvannians (forgive spelling) shock the pollsters, the media pundits who overplay the most simplistic issues while skirting by the hard stuff, and the candidates who placed their bets on fear.

Thank you Mr. Obama for raising the bar and bringing some much needed integrity as well character into this election process. posted 04/12/2008 at 22:31:47

Obama 'Small Town' Comments Draw Fire, Support

Please cease and desist with the Reverend Wright. Even Clinton has an old "uncle" pastor ...

When the Rev. William Procanick put his hand on the Bible during his sex-abuse trial in Oneida County Court earlier this year, he swore to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But as the former Clinton pastor was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl at his home last March, Judge Michael L. Dwyer said Procanick sacrificed his honesty the day he testified.

Clinton's pastor has been convicted of child molestation, will we see the same furor directed at Hillary that Obama has had to endure these last few weeks? posted 04/12/2008 at 17:04:30
Clinton, nor McCain absolutely must disagree with Senator Obama's statement; particularly for the contributions they have made in the slow demise of America's middle class and all the while they reap the financial benefits of special interests.

The dumbing down of America has proven costly and divisive on far too many levels. What Mr. Obama spoke was truth and he did so intelligently! There are countless Americans who have worked hard and expected more on the return of their investment into our country. The segment of our population my son competed against in the retail industry while a college student became retirees forced to re-enter the workforce as they watched their savings and investments plummet. Many of these people were bitter and felt resentment at the government. (Oddly, while middle America scrambled to hold on to their savings, the return from special interests reaped millions of dollars for the Clintons.... go figure!)

Special interests and the need for transparency is an issue worthy of the press forcing the Clintons' hands on as well clarification of how far Senator McCain wants to further commit the resources sorely needed in this country into IRAN.

America deserves better than the gamesmanship of the Clintons and Senator McCain! Don't we??? America is tough and strong and we can handle the truth! Can't we??? posted 04/12/2008 at 16:55:34

Is Wright Right About Racism?

It's so much more than Wright being right about racism... The media's handling perhaps is the greater story in touching off this unavoidable dialogue and long before the attempted massacre of this man.

In recent weeks it has become difficult for me to watch MSNBC programming featuring Pat Buchanan. Why the NBC Network supports his racially bias rhetoric is incomprehensible, and after he yelled "shut up" to a fellow pundit, a black female, without offering a public apology, his opinions are now intolerable. Thankfully, Rachel Maddow from NPR rebuked him immediately on-air, however Chris Matthews should have insisted he apologize. Are we to believe there is no Republican pundit who can provide an objective Republican view on political issues without unabashedly spewing racist hate?

The dumbing-down of America by exploiting fear and ignorance further weakened us and unfortunately the Clintons willingness to further pierce America where she is weakest, racial bigotry is troublesome. How does any leader justify cashing in on discrimination?

It is common in Christian churches for a pastor to explain bad things as "reaping what we've sown." I've heard the late Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and others "damn" America because of its stance on abortion; John Hagee is about the most hateful person I've ever heard speak (Sean, Pat and Rush's mentor?). God help America to get-smart about WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS ... ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL. posted 03/29/2008 at 15:00:32

Hillary Clinton's Bosnia Story A Hit On YouTube!

Recently THE FOOD NETWORK fired one of its most popular stars after learning he embellished his resume. The legacy of George W. Bush is tainted by lies and half-truths as over 4000 American military personnel have lost their lives; over 4000 families grieving; nearly 30,000 injured troops and families; over 2 million Iraqi citizens misplaced; over 600,000 Iraq citizens injured; hundreds of thousands men, women and children killed ... ALL ON A LIE.

ON A LIE, the greatest nation in the world is weakened by soaring debt to foreign countries, like China and Saudia Arabia. On mistruths and deception the infrastructure and quality of life for Americans is compromised with an unheard of national debt and spending.

Preparedness for our next Commander-In-Chief must include truthfulness, integrity, and honesty. If we are to believe Mrs. Clinton being sleep-deprived is the reason for her erroneously recalling the facts of this trip, especially coming under enemy fire, how are we to expect her to respond to a 3:00 a.m. call?

LYING is a serious character flaw, no matter how convincing you can narrate the tale. Wake up America and let's move beyond this politic of silliness and embellishments. posted 03/26/2008 at 19:58:15
