The Most Important Piece of Paper in America

Re: Your reply to FEZ

Well, what you really indicated was that the test of legitimacy of government programs (including regulations, I'm sure)) is whether the Constitution expressly provides for their content. Are bridges, dams, interstate highways, utility networks, and space exploration addressed in the Constitution?

Recall your memorable phrase: "If it ain't in the Constitution, it is illegal and we should stop spending money for it." posted 05/12/2008 at 11:30:50
" If it ain't in the Constitution, it is illegal and we should stop spending money on it."

First of all, it's pretty clear that you have not read Farrand's record of the proceedings of the Framers nor have you consulted the Federalist Papers. The Constitution is not a receipe of specified ingredients analogous to baking a cake or cooking a stew.

When you look at the Constitution do you notice the number of open-ended provisions in it? How about the generalities in some provisions? Judicial review is not expressly mentioned in the document,,,so is it unconstitutional? There are no provisions for a National bank, so is it unconstitutional?

It surely would be noble of you to stand up for your notions of constitutional legitimacy by refusing a social security/railroad retirement pension; refusing medicare; and refusing medicaid especially as it covers nursing home care. In that way you can beat your breast and boast about fending for yourself. Of course, all of that will quickly disappear should you find yourself in desperate need, as it has for so very many who had previously held views like yours. posted 05/12/2008 at 10:52:32
"timothe, if you are not very wealthy, yourself, and you believe that shit about the persecuted, downtrodden rich, then you live a fantasy life in which your secret aspirations reflect nothing of what you'll ever realistically be."

His is just one more example of Dupe-speak, and portrays him as one of the millions responsible for voting for the Puppet languishing in the White House to the joy of the Plutocrats and the ever increasing wealth of talk radio squawkers and the gang at Fox TV , who so ably bamboozle the vacuous and who are so obscenely compensated for spreading their rightwing rot. Obama Vice President Picks: Who Are The Frontrunners?

Absolutely correct, Bannister. Webb is a graduate of Georgetown Law School as well, and is a successful novelist. I was delighted (and I gotta say shocked) to see Virginia awaken from its excessively parochial coma and send a man of his strong credentials and political philosophy to the Senate. I always have viewed him and Chuck Hagel, among the last of the diminishing moderate Republicans, as excellent candidates for the presidency. posted 05/10/2008 at 11:28:05

Vito Fossella Cries On House Floor After Drunk Driving, Adultery Revelations

So saith another Dupe on board:

"I see the liberal hypocrites are out in full force tonight. How quickly they forget Democrat Elliot Spitzer, screwing around with a hooker on the public dime. Slimy hypocrites!"

Let me see, now. Do these, your rightwinger heros, if not mentors, just for starters, meet your description as well?:

Newt Gingrich "exercising" with a young chick on his staff while at the same time decrying Clinton and Monica and is now being cheered by the rightwingers and invited to guest on TV programs? How about Dick Morris, formerly a GHW Bush and Clinton adviser, and currently a purveyor of moral judgments and political virtue on your Fox Newstwiser TV channel of choice who enjoyed toe-sucking with his prostitutes while serving the Clinton administration, according to newspaper accounts based on one of the women who squealed on him? How about Bob Livingston's activities that led him to resign just on the eve of his succeeding Gingich as Speaker? There are others, and you know it.

Finally, your assertion about liberal hypocrites in full force can apply equally as well to the Neofascist Republicans, whom you ardently support and mirror, often appearing in full force here on HuffPost and everywhere in the media. posted 05/09/2008 at 10:08:49

Sunday Roundup

Yes, of course, the public is fed excessive repetitions of the video loops of Reverend Wright's frenzied delivery of his sermon(s) which contrasts sharply with the fact that there have been virturally no videos of either televangelist preachers John Hagy or Rod Parsley, both of whom support McBush and deliver in the same style as Wright's when they are wound up.

Hagy in his San Antonio megachurch really gets into it when he all but calls for bombing Iran in order to precipitate the Rapture. Parsley, a Bush supporter too, in his Columbus, Ohio, megachurch, engages in a pacing, sweating, ranting, delivery with his Bible raised high, as his congregation breaks into a pavlovian ecstacy. Beyond that, there have been few articles concerning either of them.

Isn't it clear why it is that video clips covering these pastors whom McBush chased and pandered to for their endorsements have not been broadcast? It's because the neofascist plutocrats controlling the Republican propaganda machine don't want their next potential warrior stooge suffering adverse effects of such media exposure. The Redneck voters will of course enthusiastically support McBush and the continuation of the Bush Disaster, and will reject a "librul" candidate, whether black, white, male or female. posted 05/04/2008 at 14:51:11
Dana, who may be auditioning for a job at Fox after the merciful departure of The Puppet come January 2009, forgot that when the uproar about the sign began, the White House followed its usual ritual of lying when it attributed the placement of the sign solely to the Navy personnel on the Abraham Lincoln. Not long afterward, it was revealed and admitted that the White House crowd had indeeed arranged for it as a background for The Puppet. Now comes Dana with the explanation that well, the sign should have been more specific.

This sign obviously complemented the other arrangements: The carrier was deliberately delayed in reaching port so that The Puppet could with help land his plane on the deck and strut in his pilot suit. The carrier was turned about to show the wide open Pacific in the background for the contrived ceremonies, when in fact it was a short distance off San Diego. This stunt just added to the totality of elements of the Bush Mideast Disaster. posted 05/04/2008 at 09:40:47

John Gibson Mocks Rachel Maddow's Sexuality: "Ooh, Lesbians! Yummy!"

Gibson was on NBC prior to his joining Fox Newstwister Cesspool. During Geraldo Rivera's nightly show years ago on CNBC covering the OJ murder trial, Gibson would appear fairly often reporting from the field about the trial. Now Rivera is at Fox and maybe had something to do with Gibson's arrival there; however, Gibson may have been fired and not recruited. Mercifully, Gibson was removed from his TV show but kept his radio show. Many of us (who tune in briefly to test the crackpot performances as a source of humor) thought that he was at last invisible. However, he has begun to show up for a few minutes to bray his irrelevancies on the TV show that replaced him, featuring Bill Hemmer (from CNN) and a loud, nasal-tinny voiced blond (seemingly a requirement for employment at the Cesspool) who is as obnoxious as E.D. Hill (Shill O'Reilly's female sidekick on his radio show) and the regular guests Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham. Gibson fits in very well with the scoundrels at Fox who for the right price will say just anything showing on the prompters and the more scabrous the content the more they love spewing it. posted 05/04/2008 at 11:11:33

McCain On Obama: "Clear Who Hamas Wants to be the Next President"

Responding to RedStateVoter's post at 513pm 4/25

Having been born in the Deep South of parents whose ancestry spanned generations of Southerners and my having relatives still in residence there, I know something about the place and about the Midwest, where I spent my 'teen years and completed my education, thanks to my father's career requirements.

I note your oblique reference to Obama's "bitter" remark. In your mind this says something about my political choice?

As to racism, I'll just refer you to the historical fact that in 1964 the sun set on the region filled as it was with Democrats and rose the next day filled with Republicans. LBJ himself correctly predicted it when he signed the Civil Rights Act that year. Further, you need only consult the foundation and purpose of the Southern Strategy born in the 60s and still very much alive and well. I strongly suspect that you know these things as fully as the rest of the Country does, and would not deny it.

I don't accept your suggestion that miscegenation is nonexistent in the South. Not everyone in the South listens to and obeys the tradition of Bob Jones University and the many televangelists who broadcast from Southern locations and who would never openly discuss this subject anywhere.

There was no change in the name of any company. It related to your hero's description of his show as being Excellence in Broadcasting.

Regarding your choosing residence in Bibleland, I say enjoy yourself. posted 04/27/2008 at 13:00:43

To KOisGod (downstream):

Limbaloney who deplores elitism lives in a $36,5 million compound in the north end of Palm Beach, and broadcasts via ABC Radio his ranting bilge from there to the mouth-breathing, drooling Dupes (aka dittoheads) across the Country but who are mainly centered in Bibleland, a dusty outback of relentless boredom where ignorance, sloth, and miscegenation are plentiful. In his self-centered, arrogant way, he has adorned his studio in his mansion with the logos that are a closed combination of the letters EIB. This logo represents what he calls his Excellence In Broadcasting Network. Sane, intelligent people who quickly recognize him as a shameless ultra-right scoundrel call it his Excrement In Broadcasting Network. I'm sure that this description of their hero will produce the familiar foaming mouth and bulging eyes rage among the Dupes who regularly pollute HuffPost with their mindless outbursts. posted 04/25/2008 at 17:05:16

George Bush: Spiraling Iraq Violence "A Very Positive Moment"

The Puppet and his Puppeteer-Chickenhawk Cheney may become orgasmic if al-Sadr sends out his thousands in his army and really starts blowing up the place. It was this cleric, after all, who agreed to cease the military activity of his military insurgents about six months ago in order to allow the shaky government the opportunity to gain some control. Just a few weeks ago, he extended the agreement. During the relative quiet, the casualties dropped significantly and our own actiity was mostly air strikes in suspected neighborhoods with fewer door to door encounters. With no acknowledgment to the al-Sadr element, Patraeus was lauded profusely for the results. He recently repeated his opinion that it will take a political settlement, not a military action, to end the hostilities.

It now appears that things are heating up again. The removal of troops is on hold. Nonetheless, McBush is prepared as President to stay for however long it requires and implicitly however many casualties result if the Country is irresponsibile enough to put him in the White House. He clearly plans to continue the occupation and perform as Term III of the Bush Disaster. posted 03/27/2008 at 17:53:08

Poll: McCain's Age Problem

This responsive post submitted to NEOCON43, infra, who asserted that McCain will tie half his brain behind him to equal Obama or Clinton in a debate:

PER DESMIRL:

"McCain, who graduated 5th from the bottom of his class at Annapolis, McCain who trashed two perfectly good aircraft while he was fumbling around trying to learn to fly, McCain who doesn't know the difference between Sunni and Shiite.... When he has to debate somone who was the editor of the Harvard Law Review, he will look old, tired, and completely out of the loop."

Obama as President of the Harvard Law Review and Hillary Clinton, a Yale graduate who was among the top 100 lawyers consecutively for awhile in the rankings some years ago while she was in Arkansas, means absolutely nothing to a Dupe, so many of whom seem barely literate. They are best judged by the groundless bilge they smear on these boards. posted 03/27/2008 at 09:26:29
Yes, Archie Bunker loved the lyrics and the song, and being a typical, pathetic Dupe, he regularly cheered "Richard E. (not M) Nixon" against his own interests.

The many polls daily indicate that the Republican Party owned and controlled by the ultra-Right quasi-Fascists could very well succeed in getting today's Archie Bunkers and rednecks to the polls to give us more of the Bush Disaster for another four years, judging from the continuing prosperity and propaganda of the Military-Industrial-Compliant Press Complex supported by those resident Dupes targeted by the continuing success of the Southern Strategy centered in the rural, dusty outbacks of that region, a place of unrelieved boredom and rightwing radio 24/7. posted 03/27/2008 at 08:51:01

I agree, Bill, that the Iraq War will continue until the profits diminish substantially for the Cheney-Bush constituency. In that event, though, there is no worry for them. Quite likely there has been selected the next evil dictator(s) for potential overthrow or attack if required by the profit sheet and whether the dictator's country is sitting on strategic minerals, such as oil for example.

But not all dictators are evil in our eyes, as borne out by history. The Sauds and the Chinese with harsh or non-existent human rights toward their people offer us no problem. The Sauds, who substantially support the madras schools attended by Muslim children who are taught anti-Western philosophy across the kingdom in return for our military protection of the monarchy against overthrow, and the Chinese who are fully financing our military adventures, are our favorites. This was true as to our policy toward the Central American dictators in the past who did as they were told in keeping the rabble under control while we grabbed what we sought . They were our pals. So, the test is whether the dictator in the cross-hairs is serving or willing to serve our interests. If so, he is our good friend, worthy of our diplomats; and if not, he is an evil man who is as we view it regularly is threatening and torturing his people yearning for freedom in his Country and who by his behavior constitutes a threat to peace in the World. His rule deserves only embargos, sabotage, and ultimately air attack and'or invasion if a reason for it can be concocted.
