Tennessee GOP Attacks Michelle Obama, Obama Camp Hits Back

Am I the only white person who doesn't find anything shocking about an intelligent black woman who's critical of our country's history of racial/gender equality? At least Michelle has the guts to be up front and public about her position. Kudos. posted 05/16/2008 at 12:48:40
Your current wild and ignorant attack on Michelle Obama shows that you have in fact learned nothing. Here is a woman who embodies and represents the highest ideals of our Nation, a person who has, through her own life and struggle, actualized all of the highest aspirations of our founding fathers. Attack her all you like, be as nasty as you can be (I regret the pain this will cause the Obama family; I console myself with the knowledge that no matter how hysterical that vitriol becomes, it will only serve to strengthen Mr. and Mrs. Obama's determination to resist and reject that fundamental worldview) I predict you will find her (and those of us who support her) a much less enticing target for your artificial and wholly self-interested brand of spin. It's not about Race, or skin color. It's a straight-up gut check. Are we going to be what we can be, as a nation, no matter the pain, or are we going to be the tools of a power-structure that long ago abandoned any overriding moral/survival rationale in favor of their own personal financial advantage. I'm a Libertarian, southern white male, from Florida, and I say here and now that I have Obama's back in his battle for this countries soul. I hope my fellow hicks, rednecks, and hillbillies will all take a few minutes to sit down and chew on the issues presented by this campaign. Yes, we can.

John Gibson Mocks Rachel Maddow's Sexuality: "Ooh, Lesbians! Yummy!"

Dear John Gibson,

Please attack Rachel Maddow with all the vitriolic hate at your disposal. Do it on television, and be as crude as you can. Summon up every ounce of threatened-male rage, and splash it all over the screen for America to see. This will not harm Ms. Maddow in the slightest. Her moral, intellectual, and professional superiority to yourself make the idea of such an attack laughable, of course. But it will serve to expose you and the "news" corporation you work for as the bigoted, boot-licking pigs that you are. I don't think you have the stones for it. I dare you to do it. Wussy. I think yer scared of a girl. I double-dog dare you. Rach would take your lunch-money. Yer just jealous of her because she gets more pussy than you.

An Army of Women

I hafta agree with Rianna. Clinton and Obama have indeed demolished the last "glass ceilings" to the highest office., but pride in their success requires honesty about their means. Hillary's tactics are not "up for debate", they are repugnant and, notwithstanding her mythical ability to deceive, blatantly obvious. Hehe, I admire your spirit, Grendl. And your right, to an extent. But don't forget: Bullies don't want to fight you, they just want to beat you up. Refusing to engage, and refusing to back down, are two sides of the same strength. Fear and hate accomplish nothing. Seeing your "enemy" as a fellow human being with their own principles and ideals, even where they conflict violently with yours, is just good policy. posted 04/28/2008 at 02:08:54
I swear to god, I'd have more confidence in Hillary if her supporters came off like they'd ever even heard the word "logic". Does every Pro-Hillary argument stop & start at some campaign talking point?
The first time I hear someone post something pro-active Hillary has/is doing, I'll send her 20 bucks. However, from now on whenever Hillary tries to slam Obama for something nasty that he does MORE than her, I'm sending him 20 bucks.

"I'm a scumbag, but I'm your scumbag" isn't really that great of a campaign slogan, jus fyi posted 04/28/2008 at 01:51:43
But don't you see, Grendl, that's exactly what he is doing? He's doing what he always does: Applying his empathy and intellect to the fundamentals of a given problem, getting right to the core of a matter. Hillary has resorted to hysterical hyperbole? Well and good, let her. He keeps talking about meat and potatoes. Republican mouthpieces spout "Obama hates Whitey" stories 24/7? Obama keeps talking about how we can bring wildly disagreeing groups to the table. He hasn't gone anywhere, he's out everyday doing the nuts-&-bolts work of putting together a genuine American Coalition. That's a big fuckin' job, and wasting time or energy trying damage a candidate whose supporters will form a vital part of that coalition can only be a misallocation of resources. posted 04/28/2008 at 01:40:40

Awww, good Lawrence! Nice doggie. you parroted Hillary's "inevitability" line perfectly! here's a biscuit...

Back in the real world, MarcInCA has an excellent point: why in the world would Obama, after the last few months of non-stop slime and back-stabbing, ever accept a DLC Quisling like Clark as VP? Is this Billary's latest stab at having some, ANY presence in the White House? She's fucked her chances into a cocked hat with her repugnant campaign tactics, so now she's pushing one of her last semi-clean surrogates as some kind of unity builder? Not that his "good smile, and great-looking family" are bad, but I think Obama has those bases covered already. And should he decide to pick a former military person as VP, I imagine he'll look for someone a little less willing to bend over and take it from/for his political patron. Nice bit O' shilling, tho. Maybe they'll let you sweep up at the Clinton Library.....

Artigano, you are either living in Fantasy-Land, or you are a paid organ of the Uribe cartel. As to your childish declarations of "remarkable improvements" in the lives of the Colombian people, I would only remind you that those of us who actually have access to the Net long ago found out for ourselves the truth behind your Narco-Fascist propaganda. I would argue, and I believe, that Barack Obama has put forth the most insightful, realistic, and most intellectually cogent foreign policy position we've seen from any candidate in recent memory. Despite calls from the peanut gallery to declare magical solutions to problems we all face (health care, house payments, the War in Iraq) he has kept his cool, and continued to deal with questions on these matters in a calm and fact-based manner. posted 04/06/2008 at 05:59:23

The next President, whoever that unlucky person turns out to be, is going to face problems so horrendous that I lack the courage to contemplate them all at one time. This President will need to draw upon the talent, fortitude, and goodwill of every single person in America if they are to have any hope of succeeding. I am no Hillary-Hater (I still have my "Hillary in 2008" T-shirt :) , but I do not beleive she has the personality to accomplish this. I beleive that Sen. Obama does. And, I know I keep harping on this, but there is a job in Washington where Sen. Clinton's character and talents are desperately needed : Senate Majority Leader. Sen. Obama is a nice guy. He's smart, eloquent, and a natural diplomat. If he doesn't have a hard-core policy warrior leading the charge in Congress, those crusty old theives are gonna block anything he tries to do. I can't think of anyone I'd rather have on my side in a fight than Hillary Clinton (

Hillary, I love you. But, barring some disastrous miracle, you can't win without harming the thing you love, our Nation. ,I know you wouldn't do that. I just don't think I can make it through another 4 years of melodrama, and scorched-earth politics. I can't escape the feeling that a Clinton presidency would be, one way or the other, all about Clinton. Because, as sure as bears defecate in forests, the Republicans who are making nice with her right now will, upon her securing the nomination, morph back into the thuggish, slavering trogolodytes we all know them to be. They will attack her, Sen. Clinton will go nuclear, and it will be the 90's all over again (without the whole "prosperous economy" thing, of course...) And any solutions that manage to get applied will be more about political advantage, and Gotcha games, than about the actual problems they purport to address. I can't face it, I flat cannot. posted 04/01/2008 at 01:31:18
This is what kills me about Sen. Clinton. This lady has her stuff together. She has issues she obviously cares deeply about. She can be as focused as a laser about policy details I think far too many pols don't pay attention too. I hear that in person she is funny, charming, and warm. She's clearly smart as hell. And yet, I can't bring myself to support her for the nomination. It's partly policy. We hear alot about how the two candidates have near-identical positions, and mostly that's true, but I notice that where they do differ, it's more a matter of what I'll call "philosphy of implementation". Mandates, for one thing. Top-down planning by a small group of people who agree with each other, for another. The conviction that you are "right", and that those who disagree w/ you are either benighted simpletons, or bloodthirsty enemies. It has more to do with attitude, to be honest. I know Sen. Clinton is a warrior. I remember her husband's presidency, and all the filth that was slung at her, and her family. I wouldn't blame anyone who'd gone through that for being a little (or even a LOT) touchy, for deciding to abandon the Flight part their brain, and going full-on Fight as a survival strategy. I can even deal with her, ahem, creative interpretation of objective reality. Every election, people seem to rediscover the fact that *gasp* politicians lie! posted 04/01/2008 at 01:30:09

We will embrace as "eternal allies" the most theologically rigid and autocratic regimes, and declare unconditional support for foreign political parties, (this means you, Likud) regardless of the human-rights atrocities they perpetrate, so long as these enormities don't side-track or interfere with our absolute control of the one truly non-renewable resource this sad region has to offer: Oil. Flashback: Wright's Letter To NYT About Obama

I think that's called "being told", NYT. It's a shame Rev. Wright is cancelling appearances. He sounds like a reasonalby level-headed guy. I've drunk-typed posts that were worse than that over Counterstrike games. I don't care who's peddling the line this week, neither he nor Sen. Obama sound like hate-mongers to me. He also seems to have a great deal of inter-faith experience and understanding ( How many kinds of Jews are there? Seriously. ) All the name-calling and back-biting during this hideous miscarriage of a primary aside, Sen. Obama strikes me as a thoughtful, and principled individual; and as a candidate who has offered, in public and on the record, a series of intelligent proposals for dealing with the truly ugly foreign and economic problems we face after Bush and his hush-men fly back to their island fortress. Rev. Wright may be a fireball in the pulpit when the Spirit gets on him, but the worst few seconds of his decades of preaching pale in comparison to some of the filth I've heard embraced and applauded by our own government for the last 8 years. And no, I'm not gonna vote for McCain. That's f%#$@*%g stupid. (a shout out to Hillary on that score. I'll be even more impressed if her campaign follows suit.) Not that I can vote. (Thx, Jeb! jerk...) I digress. I liked the letter.

Congressman Sees Gore As Nominee If Race Goes Until August

More smoke & mirrors from the DLC wing of the Democratic Party. Hillary would no doubt be thrilled with being Gore's veep, and only a little less thrilled with Obama as Gore's veep. Either way, she gets back to the White House. Forget all that crap about Gore being on the outs with the Clintons; He knows which side of his bread has the butter on it. If she's veep, she assumes Cheney's powers and runs her own shadow White House (anyone here actually think Gore could reign her in? didn't think so...). If Obama is veep, she's still in there, since her opinion would certainly outrank Obama's with Gore. This is just another angle the Clinton team is putting into play to muddy the waters. The blunt fact remains, Obama is ahead in the race. You can brandish all the creative metrics you like, you can propose endless combinations of fantasy job candidates, you can even tear down your own fellow Democrat, in the mad hope that McCain throws a stroke sometime in the next four years, but the essential facts will not change.
