Obama Moves To The Center

"Obama appears at the close of this week to have overcome one of his first hurdles -- a furor among labor and activist leaders over his choice of a campaign director of economic policy."

I have to admit, this is the first I've heard of it. At first glance, I'm not very happy. I'm not as concerned with WHO he has chosen as I am with WHAT they will say/do. If they have learned from the mistake of 'trade uberalis' then this could be a good move. If not, there could be a real problem.

Macro-economic progressives will parrot macro-economic arguments; complaining all the while about Nader or Dobbs and then, wonder why they can't win the so-called 'white working class' vote.

The economic and environmental consequences of the Clinton era trade policies threaten to undo everything progressives/populists have fought for over the last 100 years. It touches every issue from wages to food safety to national security. I would argue that the Clinton Administration's support for these policies is what originally divided the Party and drove support to Nader. posted 06/13/2008 at 09:22:32

Not Until the Fat Lady Sings

You are exactly right, Mr. Baitz. Until Kiki McLean sings, I too will side with the Clinton campaign in its pursuit of truth and justice.

With regard to all of the sexist, anti-democratic, Hillary-bashing comments I've made on this site of late; I would like state now, publicly and unequivocally: I misspoke. While Hillary would not be my president, she does have every right to ruin the Democratic Party.

I will relax. I will chill out. I will vote for Nader, again. posted 04/01/2008 at 13:46:44

Truth is the First Casualty. Logic is the Second. The Democratic Party is the Third.

Here comes the pivot. Now they are going to compare Obama to Bush. Gez, how much are you paying these hacks, Hillary? Oh, that's right... you can't pay them any more! Now I get it. posted 03/31/2008 at 16:08:05

Hillary's Bruce Willis Syndrome

Careful. I made a similar comment last week that was labeled, "sexist." My question is, what does a Clinton victory tell our daughters? That a woman's only path to power is through her man? Stay married, no matter what he does, wait your turn? For all the talk by the Clinton campaign about how rough the Republicans are going to be on an Obama nomination, they seem reluctant to address what will most surely be the main attack on Clinton: she wouldn't be where she is without her husband, that she is only President in title, that it is a third Clinton term, etc. posted 03/31/2008 at 13:48:25
Thank you. Well then... it would seem reasonable that any media outlet running both the 2024 number AND the idea that Florida, Michigan and Clinton have been done some injustice ought to rectify their inconsistency with a full airing of the facts, saturation style. posted 03/31/2008 at 11:41:47
Another great post. The 'media' has also allowed the Clinton campaign a pass on its original agreement not to count Florida and Michigan. This has misled the average, casual Clinton supporter into thinking that Clinton is being unfairly treated. Those I've talked to are quite surprised when they learn the truth.

I have a question that maybe someone could answer:

Has the number of delegates required to win the race outright (2024) been 'prorated' to deduct Florida and Michigan? posted 03/31/2008 at 10:36:14

Should Obama Drop Out of the Race?

Um... the point remains: when Mr. Press felt that further debate might divide his party and make it vulnerable to opposition attack, he was front and center amid the calls for Nader step out. His current post is simply hypocritical.

One quote from another of his posts on this site, could just as easily apply to Clinton:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-press/im-not-a-nader-_b_88249.html

"Let me tell you, I used to be a big Ralph Nader fan. And, in his heyday, he was a mighty, effective champion of consumers in this country. But today, he's nothing but a colossal, misguided, egomaniacal jerk." - Bill Press

Something like this:

Let me tell you, I used to be a big Hillary Clinton fan. And, in her heyday, she was a mighty, effective champion of consumers in this country. But today, she's nothing but a colossal, misguided, egomaniacal jerk.

Why the double standard? If debate is good, why not let everyone debate? Doesn't everyone have I right to run, or is it just Clinton? posted 03/31/2008 at 19:58:06
Oh give me a break! Will someone please post all the video clips of Bill Press denouncing Ralph Nader over the years? Mr. Press doesn't enjoy a "good" fight any more than he enjoys a FAIR one. This is a new low.

Nobody cares if Clinton stays in the race. It's a question of the tactics she is willing to use. Next thing you know, she'll be floating a Clinton/Lieberman balloon. posted 03/31/2008 at 14:06:26

What Hillary Really Learned in the White House

Dear Hillary,

lie, noun/verb: a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood; something intended or serving to convey a false impression; an inaccurate or false statement; to speak falsely or utter untruth knowingly, as with intent to deceive; to express what is false; convey a false impression.

liar, noun: a person who has lied or who lies repeatedly.

Sincerely,

Time for Superdelegates to Ratify Obama's Insurmountable Pledged Delegate Lead and Settle the Democratic Nomination

And what, exactly, is that point? That a rich white woman is entitled to the Presidency? That distruction of the Democratic Party is a fair price to pay in exchange for the symbolism of it? Perhaps you just like using the word 'sexist?' posted 03/26/2008 at 18:46:09
Yes, I believe he would have ran. That's what's so KEWL about him! Also, where is your proof that he "lied?" posted 03/26/2008 at 17:00:41
Well, if that "other Democratic candidate" were both losing AND a liar, I suspect that I would would feel the same. posted 03/26/2008 at 16:55:07
Others have been coming up with the same numbers for weeks (Chuck Todd, MSNBC). Also, I've never understood the so-called 'gender' allegiance related to Clinton. If Clinton were a man, she would be out already. Likewise if she were only a senator and not also a former first lady. And, if she were Ralph Nader... well, I imagine even Al Gore would come out against her, then. She is simply the wrong woman for the job. posted 03/26/2008 at 15:02:44
