I have only heard of a few cases were a gun was used to protect the Family inside of a home.
The problem with high powered weapons in the city is that everyone live in close proximity to each other and guns can be used to give irrational self confidence and quick means to solve a usually insignificant conflict.

If my neighbor shoots his high-powered weapon in his home there is a chance that the bullets could unintentionally end up in my townhouse.
