McCain Camp Attacks Obama's Holocaust Museum Statement

great point...McCain is clearly making charges and accusations that have little, if any, reflection on his actual opponent. That's why even the press coverage of Obama, while it may seem excessive to some, is all the more valid because HE is the news. McCain can talk all he wants about town hall meetings and support for the surge, the truth is his entire campaign seems stuck in the politics of the last twenty years.

Unfortunately, just because the media is moving on from McCain and Bush, it doesn't mean the voters have. I really hope all the positive moves that Obama has been making have an impact where it counts...the ballot box. posted 07/23/2008 at 11:46:39

McCain Gets History Of The Surge Wrong, CBS Doesn't Air Footage

The McCain of 2008 is a shell of the John McCain of 2000...it's a real shame. He has hopelessly tied his entire campaign to Bush and Petraus without even blinking. This interview should be required viewing for every citizen in the United States, so they can watch a candidate with truly no vision for the future. If the Democrats can't win this year, I'm moving to France! posted 07/23/2008 at 10:05:09

Tell Me Again, Why Is Obama Being Popular With Our Allies a Bad Thing?

Once again this is another example of the media making middle-America out to be a bunch of redneck hayseeds who couldn't fathom a President being popular overseas. This is the same media that examines in excrutiating detail such pressing issues as flag-lapel pins and "terrorist" fist-bumps. If Obama does win, it will be a miracle considering the absolute stupidity we witness every night on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc. posted 07/22/2008 at 09:38:06

Naomi Klein Debunks Bush's Offshore Drilling Plan (VIDEO)

Naomi Klein may be the smartest guest to ever appear on Fox...they must be getting desperate. Both hosts seemed completely clueless to anything more advanced than "capitalism good, regulation bad." The concept of government using disasters to push through policies that benefit almost exclusively big business was clearly over their heads. On another note, thanks HuffPo for featuring a clip from Fox Business...otherwise, most of us would have never known this interview even happened! And what about that set...do they really broadcast a show from a bar? What the hell is that all about? posted 07/21/2008 at 09:49:54

Rachel Maddow, Host Apparent: Analyst "At The Top" Of "Very Short List" For Next MSNBC Opening

Biden Praises Obama's Spine, Tells McCain To Study History

Biden shoud have been the Democratic nominee and the next president...at the very least he should be offered the VP or Secretary of State slots. posted 07/16/2008 at 10:32:11

The New Yorker Cover: Are They Brain Dead Or Politically Suicidal?

Great post Thomas...this is a point that has been totally missed by most in the media. Of course, WE get that it's satire because we're educated enough to understand the art. However, the New Yorker cover is about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Couldn't they have taken this into consideration? I remember watching an interview with Joe Wilson on CNN right after he and his wife shot the cover for Vanity Fair magazine. The pundits were all criticising them for presenting an image that seemed to contradict their position that Valerie Plame was the victim. Wilson wondered out loud to Wolf Blitzer "isn't that what's missing from Washington anymore? It's nuance...don't people get that?" Unfortunately, in this current political and media climate, I'm afraid most people don't get it. posted 07/15/2008 at 09:55:16

Bush's Banned Interview: An Insight Into Insanity

Sorry FOX, We Won't Let You Trash Michelle Obama

this was great Robert....the racism is really gonna explode after the convention...and you just know that Fox is salivating over the prospect of 4 years with a BLACK president....we ain't seen nothing yet! posted 07/09/2008 at 14:56:00

Is the Tyranny of Right-Wing Radio Coming to an End?

they can't do anything about AM radio because right-wing talk or low-power hispanic and ethnic broadcasts are the only thing that works...what else does AM have to offer? what else does radio have to offer? soon enough, satellite will be standard in every vehicle and terrestrial radio as we know it will be left to the fringe...pretty much where it is right now. Liberals get their news from the same places that most Americans do - tv, internet, newspaper. posted 06/23/2008 at 11:59:00

Dear Ms. Maria Bartiromo: Some Basic Economics

Taxes are not the only impediment to growth as we have seen over the last 8 years...the loss of our manufacturing base, outsourcing, the Fed's weak dollar policy, an unpopular war...all of these have contributed mightily towards where we are today. The only over-taxation argument you could make is based on the overall corporate tax and, maybe, a reduction in capital gains. But the fact is that under the Republicans many industries, including our friends at the oil companies, have enjoyed such robust subsidies, that corporate taxes have had little impact on their ability to turn a profit.

Maria Bartiromo's comments point to a larger problem in the media...the same problem that plagues most commenters when it comes to foreign policy...they like to say what sounds good, not what actually makes sense. Since most of CNBC's viewers tend to skew high-income, high-net worth, her comments will find an agreeable audience. If she was the anchor on BET, probably not so much! Of course, the media is driven by this pandering approach to every major issue...instead of reporting on viable energy alternatives, sound economic policy, or actual events as they happen throughout the world, they choose to force-feed the public with opinion and outright slander. posted 06/17/2008 at 13:41:40

CNN Response to War Coverage Criticism? Just Call 'em "Rabid"

Again people are missing Jon Stewart's point...The Daily Show is comedy/satire/whatever, not a serious news program...at least it's not supposed to be in theory. The problem is that CNN, MSNBC, Fox, and all the broadcast nets are doing such a dismal job in reporting real news and events, that The Daily Show in many cases has become a viable source for real information. That speaks very poorly for CNN and the rest, not for Jon Stewart. posted 03/27/2008 at 13:47:45

Meet Keith Olbermann's Girlfriend, New York's Newest TV Reporter

that's completely absurd...a hatred of Bush and Cheney? like anyone needed Keith Olbermann for that? and mentioning O'Reilly and Limbaugh obviously tells what side of the fence you're coming from... posted 03/21/2008 at 12:39:53
