Obama Hasn't Ruled Out Clinton As Vice President

Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer. Perhaps giving HRC the VP slot might be a better way to control both her AND Bill. After all, the Bill was once the president and a great one at that. Obama would actually BE the president. He would have the ability and the power to yank their chains and keep them in line whenever he felt he needed to. Also, he won't have HRC or Bill about causing problems for the next 8 years. They'd be good and loyal Obama hacks because that is what it will take when her turn finally does come in 8 years. posted 07/12/2008 at 14:47:26

My Position On FISA

Senator, according to some reports, this FISA bill only protects the telecoms from prosecution in civil actions. There is NO CRIMINAL IMMUNITY IN THIS BILL for anyone. Can you promise us that once you are elected president, you will FULLY investigate this matter and prosecute ANY criminal wrongdoing that you find be it with the telecomm companies, former Bush officials, or Bush himself to the nfullest extent of the law. If you can do this, your position will hold water for me. These people should NOT be let of scot free if they have broken the law. posted 07/04/2008 at 12:30:32

Senator Obama in The Summer of Awful

I'll tell you what, irregardless of the Senator's so-called "moving to the center", us being able to send a President Obama onto the world stage in January and putting a new face on American behavior and relations with the rest of the planet will be much preferable to a President McCain and more of the disappointing same old, same old, war and more war. It will also be a damn sight better than the buffoon we currently have as president. In any event, all of us knew going in that Sen. Obama was not the most liberal of the candidates that were in the primary, no matter what they say about his voting record. Also, do you all actually think that Sen. Clinton would not have had the EXACT SAME or even more to the right views on these issues? posted 07/04/2008 at 12:46:43

Bush Gives Dems STDs

We gave these guys a majority and the are STILL punking out to the Repugs. Do the dems need all 535 Senate and House seats in order to develop a spine. No matter WHAT they do, that are going to get 'hated on by the repugs, so they might as well do right by the American public. We will be there for them. I have told my congressman this time after time. We are waiting for these guys/gals to stand up and be leaders. Maybe they might take a page out of the Obama fundraising handbook. Come to the people and bypass the fat cats and you won't have to sell your soul for a buck. posted 06/20/2008 at 13:06:08

Obama's Opt-Out of Public Financing Will Increase the Odds of True Public Financing for All Federal Races

Agree 100%. Disagree 0%. Now THAT is true public financing. Obama actually went to THE PUBLIC for his financing. The only reason that the Repugs are complaining about this is because Sen. Obama is kicking their asses at the money game. This would not otherwise even BE an issue. posted 06/20/2008 at 13:22:36

McCain And Obama Tied In Georgia

If Georgia goes to Obama, it's over. A win there will cause the red state electoral map crack that will split into a complete Obama landslide. Add to this the fact that Ron Paul and Bob Barr seem to be cozying up, McCain could be in deep doo-doo in other red states too. posted 06/20/2008 at 12:58:54

Obama Opting Out of Public Financing

It would have been a slap in our faces if Sen. Obama would have walked away from this revolution. It is absolutely terrific to be able to logon to the web, contribute $25 or $50 dollars and feel like you are making a difference. This is TRULY public financing. On top of that, the fat cats are being cut out, or at least are no more of a contributor than we are. Their $2300 spends the same way my $2300 does. No more need for influence peddling, sleepovers in the Lincoln Bedroom, $100,000 Bush pioneers, etc. This is truly a new approach in campaign financing and is a breath of fresh air. Also, after the presidential election is over or even during it, Obama with a word can direct funds or other support to any candidate or cause he endorses. This is genius. posted 06/19/2008 at 17:04:15

Dems Not Backing Obama? Rahm Will Deal With It

Why are you framing "most liberal voting record" like there is something wrong with voting liberal? After the Reichwing has practically wrecked this country, especially after the last 8 years, if anyone should be running away from how they voted in Congress, it's them. From everything to the economy, healthcare, bankruptcy laws, even extending unemployment insurance they have repeatedly voted against working Americans. Then, they have the nerve to act like something is wrong with being liberal and at least trying to be a voice for everyday Americans and not just the rich and powerful ones. While this is going on they dupe everyone else into voting against their own interests with anti-abortion and gay bashing, while stealing billions from the government. The last Republican ran Congress before this one was an underreported travesty of stealing and graft. We only scratched the surface of the corruption that went on. I pray everyday that Americans will wake up and vote these facist, theiving rightwing warmongers out of office once and for all. posted 06/13/2008 at 14:45:01

McCain Strategy Unveiled: Another New Map

The McCain campain and the media is missing what could be a great story here. That is the breakup of the southern red state strategy that has handed the White House and congress to the repubs lately. As the article says, every election cycle the repubs pretend that California, and New Jersey for that matter, are in play only to see them stay solidly blue come November. That sceanrio will repeat this time also. What is not being reported is that there are certain deep south states that will actually be in play and will need to be defended by McCain in order to avoid a complete electoral blowout. Of these states (VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, MI, LA, and AR) McCain could easily lose one, two, or more of them. Especially if they are taken for granted, not defended, and the Obama campaign is allowed to run rampant with their voter registration and evangelical outreach programs. If that happens, it's over. McCain's whole electoral map will fall apart and you'll see an Obama landslide. This scenario is much more likely than McCain winning or even competing in CA or NJ. posted 06/10/2008 at 13:05:24

Forget What Clinton Did Wrong. What Did Obama Do Right?

The online network that Obama has built will continue to be a powerful tool and movement, even after he wins the presidency. Imagine if he is able to tap into this network to say, raise funds for specific congressional candidates, or fire-up a viral e-mail campaign against certain lawmakers, or quickly expose Washington shenanigans. This network is more than just a fundraising tool. It is the spearhead of a new kind of politics that we have not seen till now. It has made it much easier for normal people to feel like they are particpating in government and making a difference. It also has the potential to make lobbyists and fat cats much smaller players in government than they have been and put things back where they belong, in the hands of the people. posted 06/10/2008 at 13:54:05

Nothing Went Wrong

Please get real. The message Hillary's defeat sent was that if you run a campaign based on arrogance and incompetent advisors, if you blow through millions of dollars on unwise spending, if you tell bald faced lies, you lose.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I think HRC would have also made a good president and would have gladly voted for her if she had won the primaries. Please do not try an blame her loss on anything else than her campaign's own blunders and the fact that Obama has run a masterful campaign. Sexism has very little to do with this, except as a excuse. Actually racism played a bigger role in that were it not for that, Obama's win would not have even been close. posted 06/09/2008 at 13:46:24

McCain's Nuclear Veep Option

Christie Todd Whitman?!? That's the best woman you could come up with for McCain? She would not even deliver New Jersey to McCain, so hated is Bush and the Repubs here. Besides, the Reichwing would scream bloody murder and would be sure to either sit on their hands or vote for Bob Barr in droves. It's a nice try, but Whitman is the wrong choice. Even if she could deliver NJ (doubtful at best) her choice as VP would guarantee depressed Reichwing turnout in pink states such as GA, that could be picked off by Obama. posted 06/12/2008 at 14:02:45

Not Until the Fat Lady Sings

As a fellow Obama supporter, I too think that HRC should stay in the race. Out of respect to the Clintons, if nothing else. Also, HRC is a great candidate who has a behind the times staff who are always one or two steps behind the Obama campaign. It's made the difference in why she is losing and is what happens when you stick to the good old person network. They are down to staying in the race hoping to get lucky and have Obama screw up. She is paying (owing) millions of $$$ for that advice. Besides it's a two edged sword, as we have seen with the Bosnia flap. This is the end of the Clinton dynasty as we know it (at least until Chelsea is a little older anyway), so let them have their day. Hopefully, when the day comes when she has to give it up, I'd like to see HRC handle this with the class that we have come to expect from her and not just start spweing Obama 'haterade and praising John McCain. This is not to say that I would not support her if she somehow became the nominee. McCain is just too dangerous (Supreme Court nominees just to name one danger). posted 04/01/2008 at 13:20:21

Democrats Implement Two-Pronged Attack On John McCain

Let's not forget the Supreme Court. Many of them, especially on what is remaining of the liberal judges are getting pretty long in the teeth. There will be several replacements in the next four years. All the right needs is one more judge and we are in BIG trouble. Roe v. Wade, habeus corpus, who knows where it will stop? A Democratic white house, be it Obama or Clinton is a must. The Democrats who are talking about supporting McCain if their candidate loses are out of their minds. posted 03/28/2008 at 14:35:20

Big Mac's Blazing Saddle Diplomacy

Can you believe that there are actual Democrats that will support this guy over Clinton or Obama? I am an Obama supporter but let me say unequivocably I will support whomever the Demcratic nominee is. We cannot afford anymore of this. This article does not even mention Iran how badly McCain and his supporters like Bush, Lieberman, not to mention Pastor Hagee and the rest of the right wing armegeddon crowd are just looking for an excuse to go to war with them. You watch, this new violnce will suddenly become Iran's fault and that will be used as an excuse to further fan the flames of war. When will we ever give peace a chance? Is there anyway that we could try a diplomatic solution for a change? How about bringing some of the other Arab countries into this mess and turning it over to them? Can't do that because we'd have to walk away from the oil, which is what this is really all about. posted 03/27/2008 at 13:41:10

Clinton Owes Obama An Apology

I'm an Obama supporter and could never vote for a Republican, but I do admire how John McCain behaves with a certain honor that we would never see from a desparate Clinton who has already lost but is acting like she is entitled to be president. I do look foward to the race between Obama and McCain because they are two honorable candidates and will give us an honorable discussion of the issues. Their surrogates and 502c's may behave differently, but I do believe that these 2 will behave like adults this fall. posted 03/27/2008 at 13:52:39

Newsrooms Revolt!

TV News stop being real a long time ago. And to think I used to depend on CNN for news AND analysis. No more. The only thing that is going to stop this is to not watch the crap. I tell everyone I encounter that 99% of TV News (except maybe C-Span and Jim Lehrer on PBS) is not real at all. I try and direct them to the BBC, where you'll really get your eyes opened, or websites like this one. We are going to have to educate ourselves in how to get news analysis in different ways. It is useless to use TV news for anything that requires analysis. The only purpose a CNN or an MSNBC serves is the breaking news kind of stuff. As a rule of thumb, if you want thought provoking information, stay away from any so-called news that has commercials. posted 03/24/2008 at 13:50:38
