Reminds you of the joke where one person calls another fat, and that person replies well I can exercise but when you wake in the morning you'll still be stupid. That may have been true for Hillary's generation even excluding her defense of black panthers, but just look at the grassroots support Obama has engendered, the money pouring in, the young people organizing. It gives me hope, yes I will vote for this epitome of the American melting pot, this young man preaching inclusion, to change things in Washington.

It's sad really that Hillary the Politian is saying her husband bubba's belief that we were beyond that white/black thing is wrong, that the other bubbas just won't vote for Barack. She's down to this last ugly argument, anoint her or lose. Afro-Americans will still have to vote for her, what are they going to do vote Republican, she can pander them back into the fold, but Barack can't change his skin color.

McCain Gaffe -- It Wasn't on Our Minds

Unfortunately what is on our minds is what corporate media provides us with. Oh sure ratings matter if a show or talking head doesn"t produce ratings, they"re gone. They do their demographics, what kind of audience do they have, is it right for their sponsors, how do they increase the numbers for the target they want, etc.

The news media picks stories of interest to their sponsor's target and perhaps of public interest as determined by ratings, circulation, etc. that determines their advertising rates. Thus the cheaper it is to produce a story that results in ratings the better, making run-away brides and Paris Hilton irresistible, and stories their sponsors may not like are vetted to be more in the public interest, than contrary to their sponsors.

So when a newsman tells us the McCain gaff wasn't on our minds he probably means Spitzer's sexcapades were getting better ratings.
