For Assassination Joke, Huckabee Should Be Off TV

This is not a "stupid" joke. This is not even a joke. This is a dangerous subliminal message to the idiotic hate-mongers, racists and just plain old evil people out there. As far as I am concerned there should never be ANY jokes - from the left or the right - about killing people. I noticed that in the otherwise brilliant response to O'Reilly's meltdown there is that reference which ruined the whole piece for me. It even extends to us talking about capturing or killing people who disagree with us. If we so glibly talk about killing others then we have forfeited the right to be offended when others say the same about American. We should all recognize that the human life is eminently valuable. The irony is that people who profess to believe in the right to life only believe in that right for embryos but not for living breathing people right here, right now. posted 05/17/2008 at 15:09:55

Obama's Struggle With Typical Liberal Hypocrisy

You know it is about time we go all out and SHATTER some of these easy, opportunistic talking points. The whole damn country SHOULD BE EATING MORE ARUGULA and drinking more orange juice! How bout that? Maybe then we would bring down the cost of health care, have less heart attacks, strokes and cancer. Less people walking around with their guts hanging over their belts. How bout that? Is that elitism or freaken common sense. Just maybe we need a revolution in the way we eat. posted 05/17/2008 at 12:36:09

Obama Memo: 17 Pledged Delegates Away From Winning Primaries

"...After all the LIES from BARRACK HUSSEIN OBAMA..."

Who is employing the Republican playbook here? You failed to mention exactly how Obama has lied. Or is that another of the Republican tactics of just throwing out smears and hoping some will stick? BTW, black people have been voting for white politicians ever since they were granted the right to vote and you found nothing wrong with that. Black people had The Clintons backs when most their own deserted them. Black people are not voting for Obama because he is black. If you think that they are, then I challenge you to put up Harold Ford Jr, Condoleeza Rice or any other black person you can find and see what happens. No, black people are voting for Obama for the same reason young people and white people of good conscience are voting for him. They are voting for him because they see in him someone who is principled (he refused to bring up Monica Llewensky, and Watergate, and impeachment, Peter Paul, and Norman Hsu and all the others that I would certainly have brought up as I am not as principled) and authentic, and hard working and very, very capable. We have come to hate Clinton because she and her husband betrayed us. and belittled our intelligence. But I for one am prepared to forgive and forget for the good of the country. Electing Sweetie

One is more egregious than the other. "Boy" has a long and painful history and used as a dehumanizing term just before many a murders/lynchings. Sweetie, hon, darling, maam, dearie are terms which we used usually without one iota of negative coloring. posted 05/17/2008 at 14:05:35
"At this very moment, right wing swiftboaters are vetting Barack Obama's life to see how they can smear him if he becomes the candidate. Real estate deals, sexual peccadilloes, pastors -- you name it. They're on his trail."

And that is OK with you Ms Jong? You will be right there cheering them on, won't you. I can understand people being loyal to The Clintons. After all, the black community has been the most loyal Clinton supporters. When this primary season began, Hillary was enjoying some 74% of the black support and that was OK then. Now it is a problem that blacks are supporting Barack and Clinton supporters hate Barack. What has Obama done to deserve hate from anyone? I can understand disappointment but actual hate for someone who has only done good since he stepped on the political scene? The hate only makes sense if there is a racial undertone. The hatred that led to the lynching of black men and women for the most minor infraction. The hatred that prevented black people from being able to live in certain neighborhoods or eating in certain restaurants or sitting in certain seats. So, how dare this black man dare to think that he can win the nomination of a major party and go on to win the Presidency when there is a perfectly capable white woman who is entitled to both? posted 05/17/2008 at 13:09:58

However, he has so ticked me off at times that I have boycotted him days at a time. He is reminds of a crazy, wacky, always half drunk uncle. Tonight he was absolutely brilliant! This was the absolutely best put-down of a right-wing blow-hard that I have ever seen on TV. This will go down as one of the best tv moment ever. He has redeemed himself big time for me. Oh, how I have watched and watched and watched these programs hoping and hoping that just once, just once! someone will really hand it to these know-nothing, racist, hate-filled talking heads. How much new voters has McCain registered? And Obama?
Which speech given by McCain has served to inspire this nation? And Obama?
Which candidate has the world already abuzz with excitement?
Who has run the best campaign?
Who has copied whom in this primary season?
Do you remember how McCain gave his first acceptance speech? And then after they heard Obama's acceptance speech they all changed.

I think that the GOP ought to continue doing exactly what they are doing. Employ the politics of personal destruction. Tear down those with whom they do not agree rather than put forward programs to benefit the mass of Americans. That is the quickest way to find themselves marginalized and on the dust heap of irrelevance. For the most part Americans are moving on beyond that type of backward politics. There is no way to explain the success of Barack Obama other than that Americans are sick and tired of the same old. tired, destructive, partisan politics. It is amusing to see the GOP adopt a slogan with the word "change" front and center while still doing the same old nasty politics. posted 05/15/2008 at 17:40:16

Even The Racists Are Deserting Hillary

I heard John Edwards say that if the voter will not vote for Clinton because she is a woman, or will not vote for Obama because he is black then he didn't want them voting for him. Obama has said that he believes in the inherent fairness of Americans of all races and that he believes that if puts forth his programs the best way he can then they will give him a fair shake. What has Clinton said that is even remotely comparable to those two statements. Rather she has gone out and deliberately played up and played on our differences. She has deliberately played up the differences between Latinos and Blacks in CA and Texas. She has deliberately played up the fact that she is a woman and thus deserves the vote of women and now she has sunk to a new, gutter-level low in appealing to the racist tendencies of some whites. When she was given a chance to refute the smear tactics that Obama was a Muslim, she ever so slyly tried to leave a cloud of doubt in the voters mind. She has dragged Rezko into the national dialog even while she has ever own multi-million questionable deals hanging over her head. She has done all of those things and the media has given her a pass. They have chosen instead to adopt her talking points and to allow her to define the narrative. Disgusting! posted 05/14/2008 at 12:23:36

That is the story, isn't it? Why would you pray for something negative to happen to some-one else just so that you can win political office? And one gets the impression that at this stage, if it is a damaging story they are praying for then they wouldn't care whether it is true or not, just so that it creates a big enough stink so that under that cloud they can claim the nomination. Why would you wish for something bad to happen to Obama? What has he done that he should deserve such animosity? Do you honestly think that if the roles were reversed that Obama would be holding on and wishing and praying for something bad to happen to the Clintons? You may think that your ignorance is funny but it bespeaks to a deep dark hatred that you harbor for people who do not look like you. Both Dr. Rice and Mrs Obama are physically beautiful women who I am just guessing, you couldn't hold a candle to. And if Michelle is not considered physically beautiful by you then there must be something about her as she managed to land one of the most handsome men around who just happens to be the next POTUS. It is good that Obama's candidacy is bringing up all of this bile, hatred and anger. Just maybe we can throw it all up thus purging out of our systems so that afterward we can begin to look at each other as all of God's children here on earth. Not be color blind but to be able to see and then celebrate our differences. Different flowers all beautiful in one garden.
I am always reminded of cartoon I saw as a child where the young, blond, blue-eyed boy found himself in the land of the frogs. Rangel Slams Clinton White Support Talk

She deserves to be slammed for her blatant race-baiting for political reasons. She deserves to be slammed for her saber-rattling when she declared that she would OBLITERATE Iran. She deserves to be slammed for her stupid remarks about breaking up OPEC. No wonder the uneducated find her appealing because they wouldn't know that the US has no authority over OPEC and that her statement also betrays her arrogance in that she can just step in and dismantle an organization formed by sovereign countries. She deserves to be slammed for masking her desperation as toughness. But most of all it is the MEDIA that should be slammed for their failure to focus on the real issues and for cherry-picking what is scandal-worthy and what is not. Rev Wright is the biggest thing to have happened in this primary season according to the racist media and using the word "bitter" shows that you are an elite - that is if you are a black man. A Toxic Media Environment

Are we enablers? Are we active participants in the destruction and dumbing down of our society? I think so. I use the ridiculous Flava Flav (who rivals Carville on the ugliness scale) as an example: For the first season if I am surfing and come up on it, I would watch until my ADD kicks in. I was shocked to learn that this bit of nonsensical train wreck was one of the highest rated shows ever. So now we have this ugly, wizened shell of man on for 3 seasons now because people watched that crap. I have been congratulating myself that I am able to turn off Fox quite easily and when I do watch, I tell myself that it is good to know what the enemy is thinking. During the Rev Wright manufactured controversy, Chris Matthews boasted that is increased ratings is a sign that people wanted the media to discuss that issue. Of course that wasn't true but that argument underlines why we have Beck and Dobbs and Hannity and Buchannan and all the hate-peddlers. People listen them which means an increase in ratings which means an increase in revenue and that is ultimately what the game is all about. It is like slavery wasn't just about people thinking Africans were inferior but it was primarily about the economics. Right-wing pundits peddling hate is good for business. If it will mean that he doesn't have to face the Clinton slime machine, then I will run to the toilet bowl to vomit and then hold my nostrils while he does what he has to do. I trust Barack Obama to do the right thing. The thought of McAuliffe, that oily Penn, Bill & Hillary Clinton getting one cent of my hard earned money that I sacrificed so as to send to someone whom they vilified so viciously is really sickening but I will live. posted 05/09/2008 at 00:40:08

Nancy Pelosi Cuts Short Press Conference, Makes "Beeline" For Obama During His DC Visit

But you are mistaken AZ. Hillary is not a Democrat. She is (and I begin to suspect has always been) a Republican. Which Democrat would advocate that we OBLITERATE a sovereign country. A whole nation of human beings. She has campaigned like a Republican and has even publicly bemoaned the fact that we weren't the Republicans. posted 05/08/2008 at 20:34:11
Jax honey, you don't know what you are missing. I have read about leaders who inspire, imperfect leaders mind you but they motivated a people to become the best that they could. Jax if you could hear my teenage daughter and her friends talk politics and debate issues then you'd feel the way I do. I am happy that his candidacy has all but rendered the empty-headed celebrities irrelevant. He is the new superstar.I do not think that Barack is a saint. I do not agree with him on some things. Ah, but I do love him - warts and all. posted 05/08/2008 at 20:30:51

Clinton's Open Letter To Obama On MI and FL

Hillary fighting for the people? Which people? Hillary fights for Hillary. Hillary fights for the Presidency. For the power. Her positions - like those of McCain - shifts with the polling wind. posted 05/09/2008 at 00:56:11

Obama's Got His Groove Back

"The Barack Obama once seen as a glimmering political statue, the human embodiment of hope, change and promise is no more."

I beg to disagree. The media has not influenced me to think any less of Obama than I originally thought. I have read his books, I listened to his speeches, I watched the principled way he has run his campaign, I have watched his refusal to engage in gutter politics despite the greatest of provocation, I have watched him graciously concede when he has lost, I have watched him be Job-like in the face of the most endless and merciless attack from the media and my admiration for him has grown not lessened. And the same is true for everyone in my social circle. The media doesn't own me and will not mold me. There are (hot-headed) friends of mine who are a bit frustrated that he didn't throw the bath-tub of scandals back at the Clintons but the fact that he didn't has only added to his appeal for me. So I do beg to differ with your premise. posted 05/08/2008 at 12:04:43

Clinton: Obama Not Winning Over "Hard-Working Americans, White Americans"

Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, racists? Who would have thunk it? That these people are willing to emphasize the fact that Obama is black man not so as to celebrate that fact but so as play upon the fears(? why fear?) and bigotry, and latent racist tendencies of some white and ignorant people. What a disgrace. How ungrateful these two people are. I tell you what SD, go ahead and give the nomination to HC and see what happens. Blacks wont vote, young people will be a tad unhappy (to put it mildly) and fair minded white people will have a thing or two to say. Bill and Hillary Clinton. What a disgrace. Lanny Davis. Paul Begala. Terry McAuliffe. Mark Penn. Carville - the ugly one. These people need to know that we know what their game is. posted 05/08/2008 at 11:02:04

Obama Sees Finish Line, Clinton Clings To Dwindling Support

There isn't more outrage because the media has been saying the same thing for a year now. In a way they have emboldened her to finally publicly acknowledge what they have been selling saying. What do you think Pat Buchannan has been preaching on MSNBC. When John King and Chuck Todd go to their super technological work-board and talk about "working class voters" what do you think they were saying. Notice how "working class" and "hard-working working class" now refers to white people. Black people are not of the working class and are not hard-working. The media is racist. The Clintons are racists. Let us just admit it. posted 05/08/2008 at 11:48:17

Well how about you take out the white women vote since the white women vote cannot get you the White House? How much does she lose by then? African American is not voting for Obama because he is black. If you don't believe that then try putting up Condi Rice or Alan Keyes. Try putting Harold Ford Jr and see what happens. Black people are voting for Obama for the same reason young people are. The same reason fair minded white people are. We see him as special person who is not perfect but there has not been another like him in a long long time. You may see something different but that is your right. Will you also respect our right? posted 05/08/2008 at 01:17:39

Your brain is rigged! Both candidates knew the rules going in. Both tailored their campaigns to fit the rules they agreed to. The playing field was even. Well not really as Mrs Clinton had the establishment, the machinery, the name recognition, the goodwill and the money. Obama trounced her fair and square. If the rules were the same as the Republicans then Obama would have spent the first 6 weeks in California and Texas rather than in Iowa. What do you think would have happened then? Stop the spin, for goodness sake! posted 05/07/2008 at 20:45:17

Obama To Pick Up Four Superdelegates After Primary Win

The media heaped praises on Mrs Clinton about her toughness and how smart a politician she is and on and on ad nauseum. She came out with bright eyed, energized self while her senior campaign aides - Wolfson and McAuliffe - were so convincing with there never ending spin and yet so much was happening behind the scenes that we had no idea of. First she said that she had received $10M in 24 hours and now we are hearing that she was so broke that she had to lend herself $6M. How can we trust these people? How can we ever trust them? posted 05/07/2008 at 15:00:05

Obama: North Carolina Win A Victory Against "Politics Of Division"

There is but so many ways to say the same thing. He has one message which is one of hope and change and hard work. I notice that people usually leave out the hard work part. I love listening to him. Hillary Clinton recycles her speeches as well but she delivers them in such an uninspiring way (when compared to Obama) that you don't even remember what she says at end of the speech. Politicians have always recycled their speeches but nobody has ever paid attention to them until Obama. John Edwards has had the same speech since 2004. As usual it seems that Obama is being blamed because of his brilliance. posted 05/07/2008 at 01:51:40

Sen Obama says that change happens from the bottom up so we ought to be the ones setting the tone. He has shown that we can win without resorting to gutter politics and knee-capping. We know that the Obama campaign could have exploited all the barely hidden skeletons in Mrs Clinton's closets but he chose not to. When people mockingly deride his call for change and ask for specifics, that is a huge point that we can make. The hard work begins now! posted 05/06/2008 at 23:57:07

Terry McAuliffe Has Become Baghdad Bob

Barbara Walters And Oprah Congratulate Themselves: We Were Other Women But We Were NOT Mistresses!

This country is something else. The incestuous relationships play out in the media everyday where the super-rich and successful have a new pet project, a new book, a new clothing line or whatever and they immediately get access to every program on TV. ABC has a NEWS SPECIAL (can you believe that) to promote Barbara's book,. She was on Oprah, she is everywhere. The rich get richer, the successful gets even more successful. Oprah's show is just one huge promoting venue for the rich and famous with a few feel good, do good programs thrown in and even then it is almost always to showcase the actions of some "celebrity" and how good they are recognizing the plight of the less fortunate. The reason we saw (or in my case - glimpsed) Tom Cruise, was to promote his new project - 25 (or however many) years in show business.

On the other hand to watch these two people laugh and congratulate themselves for behavior that they have criticized others for is sickening. Do you know how many shows I have seen Oprah being harshly critical of some hapless soul for doing the very same thing she has done? Sickening! posted 05/07/2008 at 11:37:39

Did you know that she was unable to pass the bar in her first attempts? Unlike Sen Obama? Did you know that she DID NOT read the NIE report before voting for war in Iraq? All this policy wonk bs makes me wanna gag! Throwing in that the Iranians are Persians and the Iraqis are Arabs and the "Oh you know they are Pashtuns in the Afghan Pakistan border there" was so nauseating it made me cringe with embarrassment for her. posted 05/06/2008 at 12:16:35
Hhkeller, you guys are out in full force today. What's up? Full moon or something? I know you guys have major difficulty thinking logically or geometrically. The war is being fought by the troops BUT supporting the troops doesn't necessarily mean that you support the war. Does that make sense to you? In other words, the young men and women who are being sent to war by tired old idiots, are our young men and women. We understand that they are just OBEYING orders so we do not blame them for the mess and we do not want to punish them. Again, we support the troops (young men and women) BUT we HATE the war. And that thinking is what informed Sen Obama votes in the Senate. Got that? posted 05/06/2008 at 12:00:19

"present for most of his senate votes"

Don't you Republicans/Clintons check any fact? Is truth not important to you? Do you say or do anything that will further your cause? For the records, just one more time: Sen Obama voted 100 (or thereabout) times "present" out of over 4,000 votes. The "present" vote is actually a TOOL employed by Senators to signal that a piece of legislation may need more work. Did you get that jeffers1961? Let's put this lie to rest like all the rest. It is a testament to the beauty of Barack Obama, to the character of the man that these petty non-stories, non-issues are all you have been able to dig up after your ferocious witch-hunting frenzy. Obamania Down the Drain

What is most unbelievable to me is that while the media - Matthews, Abrams, Cooper, Blitzer, Dobbs, O'Reilly, Hannity, Gibson et al - was putting Obama through the wringer, we have heard not one peep about the significance of Bill Clinton's impeachment and disbarment for the Clinton nomination and presidency (God forbid). There is so much "stuff" floating out there and yet we hear nothing. Not even the Columbian deal was deemed to be worthy of news. I believe that most of the negative news is definitely racist. The media is in the business of protecting people. They are protecting the Clintons now much as they protected GWB about his youthful problems and about everything Micheal Moore exposed in his documentary. But Barack Obama is black so they feel free to attack unmercifully under the guise of "electability." posted 05/06/2008 at 16:56:25
