Couple of points. First, in addition to being unethical and immoral, allowing the health insurance cartel an anti-trust exemption allows them to do the same thing that banks did before we bailed them out to the tune of 700 billion dollars--become too big to fail. What is to prevent these pigs from demanding a bailout to prevent their inevitable financial collapse in the future?

Second, its a simple fact that we don't NEED private medical insurance companies. They didn't exist before the 1980's and we did just fine. All we need is a government plan that covers people. Nothing more. Private health insurance is nothing more than a very expensive middle man that does nothing more than spend your premium dollars. ANY government organization could do it cheaper and more efficiently than they could. In fact they do, it's called Medicare. If the government can manage that they can also manage a public option. Never forget WE DON'T NEED THEM, THEY NEED US.
