Congress: Money for War, But No Money for the Troops?

Anyone who votes down the new GI Bill is a bad person, bottom line.

You know, when people who claim to "support the troops (especially those who have worn the uniform)" vote against this, it really hurts.

Its like saying, "hey, we made in life, we have taken advantage of what America has to offer, but, since there is no draft, and you people have not money to support our campaigns, we don't need to support your education like your grandfathers had done for them."

It really, really, hurts....

A Historic Vote

Thank you, sir. posted 05/07/2008 at 19:39:01
Historically, societies where those have the most to benefit but do nothing to defend their country historically FAIL. As someone who left Wall Street after 9.11 (as you did), we watched the oil companies and other industries make billions off our hard work and blood. I believe OIF is a just and necessary war, but the disproportionate financial benefit, quite frankly, is sickening. We are getting to the point where we will have to either bring the draft back or truly compensate our warriors similar to what a bond trader or a doctor would receive for American military to be competitive. WHY WE DID NOT BECOME A WWII ERA COUNTRY ON 9.12 STILL BAFFLES ME AND KEEPS ME UP AT NIGHT.
The current GI Bill is meaningless to one who aspires to attend a non-community college or sub-par in state undergraduate program. For this reason, you almost NEVER run into anyone from the suburb of a major city when you are in Iraq.
Never in the history of America has the general public been so distant from the warrior class. This divide is even more true for the wealthiest 1% of America that owns half of our wealth.
I guess if you don"t serve, and let the poor kids do all the fighting, it is morally ok to marry into chicken hawk royalty¦.
I remain, Semper Fidelis,

Stephen Colbert: Great Boss, Potentially A Republican?

Yes Wanjiru. It did, but not in the way we were sold on it.

Read "America's Secret War," by Dr. George Friedman, and you will realize, worts and all, how the invasion of Iraq has made another 9.11 drastically less likely. posted 05/03/2008 at 17:10:28
Of course Colbert is a Republican. HE WENT TO HAMPDEN-SYDNEY!

Stop-Loss: Another Hollywood Iraq Film Misses the Mark

Until Hollywood makes an Iraq/Afghanistan war film that makes us look like competant and professional, like the films of the WWII era, all of them will flop, Paul.

Again, you nailed.

Your friend,

Time Is Not On Our Side

You and Soltz continues to miss the big picture. Please, from one servemember to another, read "America's Secret War," by Dr. George Friedman. posted 03/29/2008 at 17:17:46

Stop-Loss: This Generation's Deer Hunter

Just wait until my movie comes out, about the sole WTC 9.11 Survivor to Enlist in the Marines and fight in Iraq. The silent majority between NY and LA who support the troops and the mission will come out in droves to see a pro-troop, pro-USA, pro-mission, pro-courage film.

The same people who told Mel Gibson that a movie like "Passion of the Christ" would not work will be shocked when this one does. That movie made Mel Gibson a near billionaire.

My movie will put the children of Fallen Marines through college www.mc-lef.org
