About Shar'Ron Maxx Mahaffey
Author, Novelist, and Writer
I am a native of Alabama and a former resident of California for 26 years, and I now live in Georgia. I have had a deep abiding passion for writing since age 16 when I wrote a 4-act play about my teenage friends.
From 1996 to present, I have written numerous articles, essays, short stories that have been published in national and regional publications, and on the Internet at such publishers as helium.com.
In 2005, I authored a book of personal experience essays titled "Standing In The Light of My Truth (Valuable Insights and Practical Exercises for Self-Investigation and Self-Discovery)" (ISBN 0-9621144-2-1), published 2005, Enlightenment Independent Publishing, Available at www.target.com, www.amazon.com, http://www.moonxscapebooks.com
This book of personal experience essays demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit. The essays and exercises are practical as opposed to idealistic, and integrate philosophy with methods and practices that promote self-awareness and self-discovery.
From 2000 to 2004, I wrote two highly charged novels "Josephine Famous (Soul of A Woman)" and "Love Tells No Lies, Modern Women Stories", both are currently being shopped by a literary agent.
In 2006, I started a line of greeting cards under the name Treasure Trove Greetings, and a novelty business of handmade decorative pillows with inspirational messages marketed under the name Thoughtful Art.
In 2008, I authored three articles that are published on www.helium.com. One of the articles is titled: "Is Racism Taught of Learned" http://www.helium.com/items/882142-is-racism-taught-or-learned.
My professional resume includes a career in desktop publishing designs, business writing and editing, sales administration management, computer software training and consulting, and I was editor-in-chief of "Reflections of You"-an international journal of perspectives.
I have three adult children and three grandchildren.
BRIEFLY ME
My passion is ...
My passion is and always has been writing.
I know too much about ...
I don't think I know "too much" about anything. I love being in the "know". Therefore, I know what I need to know.
My parents always told me ...
My parents are deceased, but my evil stepmother always told me that what's done in the dark will surely come to the light.
My childhood ambition ...
I knew at age 16 that I would one day be a well-known writer.
My favorite memory ...
I have lots of favorite memories...like giving birth to my children, growing up with them, family gatherings, being a best friend to my sister Angela, beautiful memories of the many places I've visited and the fascinating and interesting people I've met, and one of my favorite memories is falling in love.
Why I write ...
I write to release my creative energy, to express my innermost feelings and thoughts on a variety of subjects, and to share my life's stories and lessons learned. "From the Bible to the TV Guide, a writer makes the difference." That's one of my sayings to describe the value of writers. I feel privileged to have this talent, which is as natural to me as breathing is.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
I love fiction. Currently I'm reading a nonfiction book of letters written by Abraham Lincoln. I'm watching everything President Obama (not things about him, but watching him wheel and deal to get things done in Washington), Real Time with Bill Maher, and lots of reality TV like American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Survivor, Project Runway, Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model, MTV Road Rules.
I love music, period...whether it's jazz, R&B, pop, country, and some of the Hip Hop sounds. My favorite is listening to contemporary jazz and old school R & B.
My first job ...
My first job was working in a nursing home as a dietician aid. I was 16.
My best moment ...
My best moment was connecting to my spirit self, the universe, and discovering who I am, what I am, and why I do the things I do.
My inspiration ...
My inspiration is a core belief that sharing our life experiences is a way to find the answer to life's questions. That inspires everything I do, to share my spirit self with those I come in contact with.
