News Flash: Anchor Stands Against "Unfair" Campaign Spending

Iraq, Iran, & the Vanishing Context in American News
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article18217.htm
08/20/07 "Zmag" -- -It"s no coincidence that the American corporate media is the wealthiest communication systems in the world, yet also one of the worst in terms of educating its citizens. Extraordinary riches require extraordinary efforts to divert public attention from extreme inequality and the democratic deficit under which Americans suffer. Despite the abundance of media sources throughout this country, Americans still endure a staggering ignorance regarding the reality of U.S. foreign policy. Horrendous media coverage no doubt accounts for much of this ongoing tragedy...

The prolific comic George Carlin has this insight to share concerning the American media"s commitment to class warfare:

Is this the same Charlie Gibson who infamously told Ted Koppel that we should censor the news from Iraq (i.e., withhold graphic images)?

Judging by the story on the Huff Home Page:

Gibson's getting his way on that one too. posted 06/23/2008 at 00:14:47

CNN Response to War Coverage Criticism? Just Call 'em "Rabid"

Kyra Phillips' reporting is consistently the most egregious:

Joan Walsh, news editor of the online magazine Salon, was more concerned about the behaviour of her colleagues who, after weeks of ignoring the civilian cost of the war, were now circling the wounded like vultures. "CNN hit rock bottom on Wednesday morning, when anchor Kyra Phillips interviewed Ali's doctor in Kuwait," said Walsh. "Dr Imad al- Najada explained that, although Ali told reporters he was grateful for his treatment, he also hopes no other 'children in the war will suffer like what he suffered'. Phillips seemed shocked by Ali's apparent inability to understand we were only trying to help him. 'Doctor, does he understand why this war took place? Has he talked about Operation Iraqi Freedom and the meaning. Does he understand it?'" posted 03/26/2008 at 22:33:33
