Hillary's Desperation

Could white men, even so-called "unbiased" news wags, feel threatened by a black man, black men? That would be unheard of, wouldn't it? A concept so new it boggles the mind. Say it isn't so. I don't think I can handle that information. Arrghhh. posted 05/13/2008 at 11:24:20

Obama In Kentucky And West Virginia: Why Will He Lose?

Some day, maybe soon, you will take the time to actually listen to the man when he speaks. (Sometimes the MSM or CSPAN show an entire campaign speech of both candidates.) Then you will realize that everything you said about the man and what he stands for and who he is just won't fit into your preconceived notions. Absolutely! I'd like to emphasize a point here. US Magazine (from what I can tell in perusing it in the checkout line) doesn't pretend to be a serious news or opinion medium. It's an entertainment and celebrety gossip magazine. Period. On the other hand, we have a bevy of big boy MSN outlets that DO pretend to be serious news providers, as well as serious, well-informed opinionators (bloviators) 24/7. The real shame on them is they have no shame for their pretense and open bias. None. They present opinions on facts! and never stop to do self-examination.

I cannot tell you how many times on Saturday and Sunday that I channel-surfed to MSNBC only to see the VERDICT with Dan Abrams being rerun --- the segment on, you guessed it, the Rev. Wright "scandal". "Will this hurt Obama? Do you think he can survive this problem? Do you wonder about his staying in that church for 20 years?" ad freakin nauseum. The informations they are getting is from the MSM, and a great, huge number of people in these thousands of small communities are getting their "news", "information" and "truthiness" from right-wing talk radio and Fox News. What they are getting are mere bits and bites of the total message and issues of all three candidates.

Educated populace? Information, clear and true, is what it takes to make Democracy really work. And we have anything but an educated people in this country. posted 04/28/2008 at 12:15:51

Barack Obama On Fox News Sunday: Watch Video

Obama once again in a lose-lose situation. The man just has to be pefect, flawless. Same old, same old, tired-ass nail the black man.

The media has had over a year to "vet" Obama, listen to his answers, read his books, read his web site, read Wikipedia......and yet insist on hauling out the same old, same old ignorant white questions about crap that doesn't matter, ad nauseum, that he's already answered so many times already. It's a "Let's trick him up any old way we can."

I will not hold my breath for Fox or any of the MSM to nail McCain on any of his questionable and derelict history. He's the old "white hero with a long history serving his country." Or for that matter, really get on Hillary in a serious microscopic peak at her very questionable history. posted 04/27/2008 at 13:08:57

Two Years Ago: When Stephen Colbert Mocked Bush -- To His Face

It was a great moment in history. Unfortunately, for more reasons that a hundred, we have a President with the character and personality of a spoiled frat boy with a.cruel and vindictive streak. Who knows how much more resolute Little Bush was in "his path to glory" after the knock-out punch from Colbert.

Hillary Is Not A Monster

I was hooked on the heading, presuming you were offering a full-on defense of the Queen of Offense. With great relief and gratitude, you gave us what I believe is an objective look at a person willing to go to nearly any length in grabbing power and control of a government that has been rushing like a runaway train to the brink of disaster, and perhaps willing to continue the trajectory. posted 04/26/2008 at 13:56:20

No Laughing Matter: Obama Has Real Problems With Voters He Needs in November

What's the Matter with Kansas.

Obama's "bitter" and "clinging" were lifted right out of the pages of this book. From the 1960s when all hell broke loose, the world as we knew it flipping every which way but "right" was a nightmare for people who did not share so many of the realities of the world around them that was flying in their face, their values were being challenged. Change for most of us is scary, at least at first. Some of us resist it harder and longer than others because Change can threaten things like their 2nd Amendment rights to own a gun, threaten their belief that abortion is murder, that gays are sinful and an aberration, that foreigners, illegals of brown skin are taking over "their" country, their jobs, that liberals (socialists, Commies) were going to run the country.

That's all he needs to tell "Middle America", the America he really does represent, but happens to be the wrong color and is calling for that word again, Change. posted 04/26/2008 at 15:15:48

The Undeniable Virtue of Jeremiah Wright's Pro-Blackness (and the Problem with Pro-Whiteness)

I got some previews, more snippets, on CNN on Thursday night that made me dread what was coming the following evening on Moyers. That preview was a group of three "respected opionators", one of whom was indignant and shocked that Rev. Wright would choose this time, of all times, to speak out in his own defense, and how that could only hurt Obama. That little portion of the interview they were commenting on Wright answering the question, Has Obama ever repeated anything that Wright preached, and his answer was to the effect that, no, Obama is a "politician" doing his job as a politician and he (Wright) was doing his as a pastor. At that point, I was prepared to not watch Moyers, someone I greatly admire and have watched and listened to for years because I too was angry at Wright for what he said. I should have known better, it was CNN after all. I watch entire interview and was relieved to hear Wright speak of his history as well as his church. Unfortunately, it was just a bit of his history. He will continue to be villified by people who choose to perceive him in the tiny pidgeon-holed YouTubed picture and not the larger, much larger man who has been a postive leader in the community, a true Christian being slandered and hated by many who call themselves Christians. They will never get it, a loss for them as well as our country. posted 04/26/2008 at 14:41:41
I'll let others argue with nearly everything you said preceding the last paragraph. Blacks from any other country but ours do not have the shared origin of slavery in their psyche, a profound difference. The advantage for them is obvious to me (a white). posted 04/26/2008 at 14:11:36

Intelligence is sure taking a beating these days. It seems to be outmoded at the very least. At most, scorned and villified, perceived as elitist.

Good grief, people. Be thankful there's someone with the ability to see throught the morass of B.S., the idiocy that passes for news and truthy commentary.

KO is the closest we've come to Edward R. Morrow, and I think has gone beyond what even Morrow attained, in insight and keen observations of not only the idiots and villains in power, but the humor in everyday madness and folly.

Was Race a Strong Factor in Clear Clinton Win in Pennsylvania?

RACE (black) and CHANGE. Two of the scariest words for a huge number of Americans.

Take all the NASCAR fans, at home and in the stands.

Take all the fundamentalist WHITE believers in the pews and at home soaking up the hate-spewing, fear-mongering TV evangalistas.

Take all the wrestling fans, in the arena and at home.

Take all the so-called "silent majority", scratch the surface of their (white) skins and you have red-blooded, scared to death of anyone darker than they, racist flank.

Obama embodies all that just simply goes against everything they hold dear. He scares them. He galls them. The tragedy is that they will not listen to him and get to know him as the best person to come along in the worst of times. Because of his skin, for God's sake! posted 04/23/2008 at 11:20:26

I just wrote a cousin who happens to be Mayor of Evansville, Indiana. It addressed Obama's short-hand version of what's set forth in Tom Franks' book What's the Matter with Kansas. I wish Obama would address the subject again, not in shorthand, but in terms of history, what brought "Middle America" to the conservative side. He needs to define it. The fear of change, the threat to the core values and beliefs of Middle America. It started in the 60's and just built and became more reinforced with each administration. CHANGE is not welcomed by people who fear change, who perceive change as a threat. Change needs to be defined as something more secure and positive for all Americans, not something to dread. Hillary understands this. She's subtly and more obtusely lately playing on this fear of change. She does in fact represent the familiar (even if it stinks). McCain does too (even though he stinks). The MSM will bring it up again, as will the Repubs if he wins the nomination. He needs to answer them. posted 04/23/2008 at 18:32:08

Thoughts on Pennsylvania, Clinton and Obama from a "Realisticrat"

The visceral reaction to Hillary has everything to do with the person herself. People have had a negative reaction to her from day one, long, long before the campaign even began. To blame it on Obama supporters is sad, desparate even. posted 04/22/2008 at 19:41:43

Straight Talk? You Decide

As a 3rd generation Arizona "native", fortunate to have been raised in Tucson in one of the most beautiful deserts in the world, the Sonoran desert, I'm familiar with Don Diamond's rape of this fast-disappearing gem. Our rich, diverse, delicate echosystem is being mowed to the ground, replaced by a sea of cookie-cutter subdivisions and all of the pollution that goes with this onslaught, displacing and killing wildlife native to this area, all because of local, state and, in the case of McCain, federal governments too greedy to care about the destruction they've wrecked.

The name Don Diamond in this part of the country, for people who love the Sonoran Desert, is synonymous with Greed and Death. posted 04/22/2008 at 15:39:29
