The Swiftboating Begins - The Right Smears Obama

Wow. It can't be Hillary smearing Obama, so it's gotta be the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy? That gets you an Aquanet Moment, Karen. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com/2007/01/auqanet-moment-karen-russel.html

Who Killed Pierre Gemayel?

mlevine said: "but why is suggesting that israel could have been involved in this assassination mean that 'israel is responsible for much of the world's ills.' why is any accusation against israel automatically inflated to an accusation against the very existence of israel? such accusations betray a lack of intellectual, never mind academic, integrity." It's guilt by association, Mark. Suggesting a conspiracy is what Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria, radical Imams, and any other Jew-hating group in the world is saying and/or thinking. I don't think you're an anti-Zionist. I think you've got your blinders off, given what you've covered in your past few posts, and you're more of a traditional liberal than new-age progressive. Sorry to break the news to you, but... you're getting more conservative as you get older. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com/2006/11/why-is-it-always-israels-fault.html

Who Killed Pierre Gemayel?

Occam's Razor, Mark. The simplest explanation... You answered your own question as to why Syria was the nation behind the attack, not Israel. Syria's exploiting a stronger position. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com/2006/11/why-is-it-always-israels-fault.html

Bringing the War to an End is my Highest Priority as Speaker

Speaker Pelosi-- You speak of honor? There is no honor in what you are doing. Your cowardice for the sake political expediency is going to cost the Iraqis dearly in the long run. Our promises to them will ring hollow yet again, just as our words to our troops will be hollow as we withdraw them before they can secure victory. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com/2006/11/nancy-pelosi-getting-out-of-iraq-her.html

So you're saying that Dowd, Gregory, and Lieberman aren't Democrats? Please. Just because you tossed Lieberman aside doesn't change his stripes. You get yourself an Aquanet Moment, Steve. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com

National RePUBLICan Radio

Know what I love most about liberalism? The compassion & love, man! "The unstated problem therefore, is that the ruling junta doesn't want billions of Earthlings - including far too many Americans - wallowing in the collective wish-fulfillment of seeing the cretinous coward choke to death on his own blood."

Push Back: Koreans Stopped Nuclear Moves Under Clinton, So Bush And McCain Blame Clinton?

Brent-- Explain what Clinton did to prevent nuclear development in Iran? Explain what Clinton did, diplomatically, to weaken the Ayatollahs in Iran, and prevent them from building nuclear reactors? I'll tell you what he did: nothing. Zip. Nada. Sat on his ass and played with cigars. As for North Korea, he *thought* he did a great job. Basically had an oral agreement by the NorKs that they wouldn't pursue nuclear weapons so long as the US sent them a bunch of aid. And guess what? All that time the NorKs were secretly working on their nuclear program. Again, Clinton did nothing. Now let's turn our attention to Bush. Bush got everyone in the region to the negotiating table, and even had China on OUR side of the negotiating table. Incentives were offered, but punishments dealt out, and what happened? Same thing that happened under Clinton-- nothing. So who was right? Your guy? The Bushie's guy? Nope. Neither. Because there was little to do. We couldn't invade because NK was backed by a nuclear power (China). We couldn't use any military threats, and the NorKs knew it. Essentially everything was a sweetheart deal because they knew the worst they'd face was localized sanctions. And what's a few more sanctions when your people are already eating mud? China's now calling for sanctions against North Korea from the UN. Too little, too late. Now they face the prospect of a nuclear South Korea, Japan, Taiwan-- everyone, because you've got to have a deterrent against someone as unpredictable as Kim Jong Il. China was too slow to realize that, and now they've got egg on their face. Now they want to play tough, but instead they've now got to deal with a nuclear North Korea and the fallout in the region from such an action. It's not Clinton's fault. It's not Bush's fault. Not even the UN. It's all China. At least Bush had the good sense to realize China had to condemn North Korea's refusals.

October 11 - A Day That Will Live in Infamy

Dave-- Considering we were still at war, technically, with Iraq in 2002, the vote was really a reauthorization by Congress to fight the war. A "cease fire" is not a "peace treaty". It is simply a cessation of hostilities. When one member of that agreement violates the cessation repeatedly, it's cause to invade. No authorization needed in 2002 because it was already authorized back in 1990. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com

Margaret Spellings' Higher Education Report: Toward the Utter Stupidification of American Higher Education

John-- The problem isn't just with the Bush Administration. It's with the entirety of the Department of Education and the government's tendancy to "centralize" things. The whole Department needs to go and the control of education needs to be sent back to the States and their citizens who ultimately pay for education. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com/2006/09/standardization-of-colleges-how-dare.html

XM Radio Hosts Join Murtha Swiftboating Event

The only reason the Swift Boat Vets had any traction was due to the fact there was truth in what they said. If it was complete BS, it would have sunk. Thanks Seth. I was so shocked and awed to read your words I fell backwards in my chair. Now I have a big bump on my head. Keep up the good work. Glass Ceiling? What Glass Ceiling?

Leanne-- Interesting read. Certainly gives rise to self-examination and a complex problem that affects not only women, but to a larger degree, racial minorities. The solution to the problem is not through regulation, but through societal change. The feminist movement has opened many eyes, and inadequacies have certainly been illuminated. But it will take a few generations befroe the fallout from the 70's and 80's will truly be seen.

Pope Benedict, Now Who Converted Who "By The Sword?"

Russel said: "As one who respects all faiths, I welcome his apology. I do so despite my enduring belief that when it comes to the spreading of religion by the sword, Pope Benedict's own church was not entirely innocent nearly five centuries ago. And there's plenty of blame to go around to other faiths." Ugh! You intellectually lazy slob! You didn't even read the text of the speech, but you're first in line to criticize it. The speech talked about how violence in religion is anathema to God's will. He says it RIGHT AFTER the quote that caused all the problems. It's amazing the garbage that's spewed here on the PuffingTons Host. And as for you, Michigan, everything the Pope says isn't infallible. It's a rare event when an infallible statement is issued. Michigan said: "The age of belief in religious myth and superstition should have ended long ago." Because you've demonstrated just how much knowledge and superstition your know of the Catholic Church and any other faith. Do some research before you shoot your mouth off. http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com

Pope 'Rottweiler' Barks

Sam said: The world is still talking about the pope's recent speech--a speech so boring, convoluted and oblique to the real concerns of humanity that it could well have been intended as a weapon of war. ******************** Speaking of boring... But if you want a rebuttal, I have one over at my blog: http://the-autopsy.blogspot.com/2006/09/sam-harris-you-cant-be-scientist-and.html#more
