Who, Me, Sexist? Confessions of a Cable-News Commentator

Yes, you.

You and the whole little boys backyard he-men's scared-of-girrlz (especially scare of letting Rachel Maddow talk without interruption) club.

The fact that you all had no idea you were being culturally misogynistic (or, worse, didn't care) gives evidence that some of you he-males are taking up valuable media space more properly belonging to intelligent women and smarter-than-you men, who wouldn't be having to explain and apologize after-the-fact, even if you do eventually come to knowledge and are sincere.

I hope you do a key-word search of MSNBC and sexism, Tucker, Hardball, etc., and give yourself an education in misogynistic puerile name-calling, offensive adjective projection, and 19th century gender mindset, so you can see more clearly what you need to abandon.

Other than that, good luck with your career. You deserve a second chance.

Love,

When Bill Clinton Met Mayhill Fowler on the Rope Line

As was alluded to occasionally in Rosen's excellent piece, traditional journalism should be excited and all a'quiver to have the onrush of new journalistic possibility upwelling all around them. They should jump into the flow and join in the fun.

Traditional journalism is being democratized. The guild is dead. The insider spoils system is almost over, which is good, because it has become spoiled and petty and has helped spoil the democratic aspirations of all citizens with its coziness with power and its abuses.

Traditional journalists, if they TRULY love journalism and want the truth to come out about government and society, have to not only accept citizen journalism but to rub elbows with and coordinate with anyone anywhere working to present our politicians and government as they really are.

It should become second nature. posted 06/13/2008 at 14:36:18

Could the Republicans Pick the Democratic Nominee? -- The Untold Story of How the GOP Rigged Florida and Michigan

We don't need new Democrats like you, who will hand the nation and world over again to the rightwing Republican hatchetmen, just because you disagree with what Clinton, herself, originally agreed to - yes, she approved the DNC changes before the primary season began. Did you even know that? Everybody approved it. Do you change the rules in a game just because you're a losing loser?

You can't win by playing both sides of the fence. That's how this country got into such trouble in the first place, by people like you hedging your bets like you're at a craps table instead of deeply considering the issues and challenges we face.

Feel free to leave. Hey, maybe you could support Nader. He sounds like your kind of guy. posted 03/31/2008 at 15:42:27

Hooked on Hillary

To The Cyclist: I can see you're sincerely outraged about something, but reading your comment is confusing. Please explain: Bill is the greatest president of the 20th century? Not FDR, not JFK, not Teddy Roosevelt, not Wilson, et al? Were you born in 1992?! As far as the level of discourse in these comments, yours seem to me to be the most juvenile and wildly inaccurate. I haven't read anybody else referring to celebrities. Only YOU have mentioned celebrities. You're so far over the top, I can't believe I even bothered to respond to you. I take it all back. Sheesh. Thanks for walking and phoning for Gore, though. posted 03/31/2008 at 03:04:55
You sound very sincere but you're pretty darned uninformed. Does that make you a typical Hillary supporter? The pilot says there was NO corkscrew landing. Obama does state he is pro-choice. You say Obama has lied? Please. What the heck are you talking about? Are you actually believing any of Hillary's ridiculous out-of-thin-air attacks about nothing? Pretty desperate. I, too, feel for Hillary and middle-aged and all women really. Like my wife says, though. Vote for the person, not the gender or race or anything else. Hillary's outright lying about Bosnia (she stated the same exact story with the same details four times the last few months, all videotaped. If she's not lying, then she's delusional. Which would be worse in a President? I'm sorry your candidate has already lost, but do you and she have to go out so flaming and blaming. Show some class - both of you! posted 03/31/2008 at 02:49:36

The Fear Factor

It's hard to believe there are still those espousing the Nader philosophy of "not a dime's worth of difference" between the two major parties.

Sure, there's not nearly as much difference as some of us would like, but you have to be willfully ignorant and completely impermeable to the realities of today's world and politics to think Al Gore would have bastardized the Presidency like Bush has or would have pulled the flush handle diplomatically, domestically, militarily, and financially as Bush has so wantonly and arrogantly done.

Get a grip. By the way, no one has to pass some mythical test of who can claim themselves to be a Democrat and who can't. You are so wildly off base regarding Democrats that I can only conclude that you are a lost concern troll! Go home. The underside of your rock is waiting. posted 03/29/2008 at 09:54:00
You are a fake concern troll.

It's the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, buster. You're busted!

No go away with your Bushy tail between your legs. posted 03/29/2008 at 09:45:48

Why I Was Right About Iraq

To think of the U.S. in its modern historical period, say of the last 100 years, you have to think of vast empire, both in terms of military bases and stations across the globe and in terms of a dominating financial and administrative hegemony, and you especially have to think of literally hundreds of military interventions and coup d'etats, covert and overt, that have resulted in mass murders of genocidal proportion in literally dozens of otherwise sovereign nations, and always at the behest of U.S. oligarchic interests and the conjoined interests of the local oligarchy, and always accompanied by American-majority enthusiastic support and ignorant acquiescence, always disbelieving that "we" could be doing anything wrong. posted 03/24/2008 at 23:40:42
Fawning and pandering - that's what the majority of your elected national leaders were doing when they bent over and took the suppository of pseudo-patriotism after 9/11. They bent over and rolled over, and it was all over but the dying, which had just begun. Yes, 4000 American soldiers and probably a couple thousand mercenaries (private killers who signed a contract) have died. What about the million Iraqis dead? What about the 3-4 million Iraqis living in poverty in self-exile, many turning to prostitution? What about the 2 million Iraqis living in poverty in internal exile? posted 03/24/2008 at 23:25:14
Yes, America knows what's best for Iraq, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Palestine, Korea, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Grenada, Lebanon, all of the African nations, all of the Central Asian nations, all of Europe (old and newly fascist), Russia, China, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and all the other nations of the world where we've either directly invaded or instigated and helped carry out coup d'etats with massive loss of innocent life with the help of death lists prepared by the local CIA stations, and directed by the Pentagon, White House, and Langley. Learn some facts, commenter. posted 03/24/2008 at 23:16:03
Gee, Liz M, you're so right, that this post IS all about Biden and all about you still hung up on Biden. posted 03/24/2008 at 23:08:53
