If Not Hillary, Who Will Be The First Female President?

What? Barbara Boxer has been in the house and then Senate for nearly 30 years and Claire McCaskill and Kathleen Sebelius have been in one form of elected office or another for over 20 years, each. Sebelius beat a republican twice for Governor in one of the reddest states in the country and Claire has only lost one election out of dozens in a conservative state. Whoever your "someone" is has no idea what they are talking about. posted 05/18/2008 at 00:30:24

Hillary Turns Fire On The Media

This is the problem with this arguement, the primaries are not the same as the GE. She will never win Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas or Kentucky. Even if she won Ohio and Florida she is polling behind McCain in blue states like Oregon, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. She is also losing to Obama and McCain in Neavda, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa and most of the mid-west, mountain west and south.

Obama can get to 270 without factoring in half of the swing states. posted 05/17/2008 at 22:23:27
That's a bunch of BS.

Obama won caucuses in Iowa, Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, Hawaii, Maine and North Dakota and is maintaining a lead over Hillary and McCain in all of these states and will win all of them in the general.

Obama also won Alaska, Idaho and Nebraska and is only down by 3 points in Nebraska and Idaho and 5 in Alaska. McCain is polling 25-40 points over Hillary in these states.

The only two that Obama won't win are Kansas and Wyoming.....And neither would Hillary. Oh, I almost forgot Nevada. McCain is leading Obama by 0.3% and beating Hillary by 11% posted 05/17/2008 at 21:38:20

Clinton Protest Voters for McCain

Why would the candidate with the most delegates and twice as many states won take the VP slot and give his win to somebody else? This makes no sense. What if it came down to Hillary and Joe Biden and Hillary had more delegates and states won. Would you be asking Hillary to give up the nomination to Biden because he was in Washington longer? posted 05/16/2008 at 21:57:58

Could Obama Redraw The Map?

I agree. Obama and McCain were tied in NC before Rev Wright. McCain went up to 7 during that time and now it is back down to 3. I think it's Obamas if Webb is the VP. His son is stationed out of Camp Lejeune and the Webbs are very popular there. He may even pick it up without Webb.

S Carolina too. Last poll I saw Obama was only down by 3 and even their Gov (possible VP for McCain) has had nothing but good things to say about Obama. posted 05/12/2008 at 19:56:57
You need to stop listening to Clinton talking points.

Iowa, Washington, Minnesota, Colorado and N Dakota are all caucus states that Obama won and Hillary and McCain are behind Obama in. Obama will win all of those in the GE. Either dem could win in Maine (which Obama won).

Idaho, Alaska and Nebraska are all caucus states that Obama won. Hillary is behind McCain 25-40 points in all these....Obama is down by 3 in Idaho and Nebraska and 5 in Alaska.

Kansas and Wyoming? Neither dem will win these.

The caucus state arguement is and always has been false. posted 05/12/2008 at 19:15:57
Your prediction looks exactly like mine right down to Nebraska splitting. The only difference, I think Obama will win Ohio and if Jim Webb is the VP I think they will also take North Carolina and possibly S Carolina.

Without Webb

Obama 318
McCain 220

With Webb

Obama 341
McCain 197

These numbers also give McCain Indiana, Montana and Nevada. Nevada could go either way and Indiana and Montana could be in play. posted 05/12/2008 at 18:28:35

E-Mail Shows Racial Jokes by Secret Service Supervisors

I spoke to a few of Obama's Secret Service agents when they were in my town for a rally in early April. I was curious about how they viewed both Obama and their job and to my surprise they were really nice and talked with me for a while before the rally.

I asked them if all the stories were true about them playing basketball with Obama and hanging out with him at his home for SuerBowl Sunday and they said it was all true. They said they play basketball with him as much as they can, they spend alot of time with him even when they are not campaigning like on Super Bowl Sunday and have dinners with him and sit around and bullshit. I got the feeling that certain agents have become pretty good friends with Obama.

I also asked them if they liked working for certain candidates more than others. Their response..."We're not suppose to mam." I followed up asking if any of the stories were true about the Clintons being verbally assaulting to them. They looked at eachother and one said..."We are professionals mam. If you want to keep your job you don't talk about your job mam, it's not professional." Another laughed and said..."You would never work again, anywhere, if you started talking."

Their original codename for Obama (which has changed) was "maverick". Funny now that we know McCain will be his opponent. posted 05/10/2008 at 18:16:13

Senator Webb
More of an economic populist than even our many democratic presidential candidates (with the exception of Kucinich)
Delivers Virginia, Colorado, North Carolina
On same page with Obama's agenda
Actual friend of Obama...Would have his back
Took on far right in South and won
Is an academic, author and former teacher like Obama
Won debate against Mnay republicans on MTP

Damn...You are one of my favorite posters so I don't want to be disagreeable. I personally love Kathleen Sebelius. I think she would do great things for our country. However, I think Obama will carry Iowa and Colorado anyway and Missouri is tough no matter who the veep is. But with Webb I think we could pick up Virginia and the Carolinas on top of Iowa and Colorado, expand the map even more. Nebraska is the only state that proporations it's delegates and I am pretty confident Obama and McCain will split them this year.

I also love Webb's populist economic message and the fact that he neutralizes McCains military record. I would be happy with any of them though, Webb, Sebelius, Kaine or McCaskill. I trust Obama and will be happy with whoever he picks with the exception of Hillary, Strickland and Clark. posted 05/10/2008 at 03:16:47
Yeah...I didn't phrase that well. I meant Obama will win every Kerry state + Iowa and maybe lose NH to McCain. Obama has been polling 9-17 points higher than McCain in Iowa...and that's better than Hillary. They REALLY don't like her in Iowa! posted 05/10/2008 at 02:51:54
I think Obama's VP must be Webb. Obama will win every Kerry state (except maybe NH) + Iowa. Obama is currently ahead in Colorado and tied in North Carolina and Virginia. If he picks up Virginia he reaches 270. Webb's son is stationed out of Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and the Webbs are very popular there.. If Obama turns out the dems and Webb brings in the military vote they take North Carolina. Obamas also only 3 points behind McCain in South Carolina, Nebraska, Idaho and S Dakota and within 5 points in Alaska. Webb could help bring Reagan democrats back into the party and help carry these states. No other veep could help in so many places.

I love Kathleen Sebelius and Janet Napolitano but neither will carry their own state. If it's going to be a woman I would rather have Claire McCaskill who has a better chance of bringing MO and is a kick ass campaigner. Tim Kaine would also help bring Virginia and he and Obama are close but I think the Lt Gov is a repub. Another option is someone like Nunn or Cleland if they would agree to one term and put Claire McCaskill, Tim Kaine or Jim Webb on the ticket in 2012. posted 05/10/2008 at 02:15:33

Got to polling place with daughter today who turns 18 before general election and they wouldn't let her vote. After an hour of excuses by Indiana state election officials the woman at the polling place said...."I don't know what to tell you mam other than they don't want your daughter to vote." Everyone at polling place was great, they felt really bad for my daughter and kept telling her not to get turned off on voting.

Called election board when I got home. Talked to supervisor who said she is in the system and it has her correct birthday but is still denying her and we will have to come and dispute it in person but it is unlikely it will be resolved today. Well no it won't because she had to go to work and doesn't get off until 10:30pm. My husband works at a radio station and they have been getting calls today from people complaining that as long as you are in line by 6pm they are suppose to let you vote but many precincts have announced they are closing it down at 6 even if you are in line.

Obama camp had a team set up outside polling place to record voting problems. They documented what happened and said they would be in touch. posted 05/06/2008 at 17:16:38

What John McCain Told Me, and What it Says About How Far He's Fallen

People probably say this every election season but these are really strange days. I am in Indiana. I have made nearly 600 phonecalls for Senator Obama and have spent the last two days canvassing.

I have met republicans who are supporting Hillary BECAUSE they hate her. I have met republicans supporting Obama. I have met democrats supporting McCain. I have seen Obama bumper stickers next to Bush/Cheney stickers, I have seen the front of a man's house covered in poster board with a message..."We are not voting for Obama!!! Stop calling us!!! Stop coming here!!!". I have met life long republican men in their 60's canvassing for Obama and boys right out of high school with Hillary stickers on their car. Just this morning, standing in a neverending line at the BMV to get my "official" ID (still have ID from last state) a chant broke out. First, Obama! Followed by, YES WE CAN!! Hundreds of people at a BMV getting IDs to vote! I have watched couples fight right in front of me on their front lawns because one supported Hillary and the other Obama. I have gotten nearly every primary right this year and yet I have absolutely no idea what will happen in my own state tomorrow. That's ok though. I have met more people in my neighborhood in the last two weeks than I have over the last two years. Best thing I have done in a long time...turned off my tv! posted 05/06/2008 at 02:56:40

This is my first time. I was really scared to make the first call, I would start dialing and then hang up! But after the first couple it got easier. I know this will get me in trouble with the Hillary supporters but the people I spoke with that were supporting her were the rudest. I guess because of the way the race is right now and I was calling for Obama. Republicans have been really nice actually, no one brought up all the stupid stuff and most people wanted to talk and debate issues. It's hard sometimes though when you get someone lecturing you on abortion. Obama supporters are obviously pretty upbeat.

I haven't lived in Indiana long. I don't really understand the mindset yet either but most are friendly. Even my church going repub neighbors are pretty cool and more tolerant on social issues (besides abortion) than you would think. posted 05/02/2008 at 01:57:43
I have been phonebanking in Indiana for the last few days. I have made 487 phone calls. I live in a republican district and the people I have been talking to are 4-1 republican and not one person has asked me about or brought up Rev. Wright, Bitter Comments, Bosnia/Sniper, Race or Gender. Not one. Nearly half of all my calls have at some point in the conversation brought up the media and not in a good way.

Of the people suuporting McCain the number one issue was abortion. No surprise to me for this neighborhood (lots of churches). I have been lectured way too many times today on that subject but I respect their opinion. Number two for McCain is capitol gains taxes. They think dems will raise them to 28%, I don't know enough on that subject to argue (any tips?). The top reasons I got for Obama...Iraq and seems like he is honest or trustworthy. I actually haven't had many Clinton supporters but again not surprising for this neighborhood. The ones I have had have been older women and their number one answer actually has been a surprise. Bill Clinton. I have had several women tell me that they think she will be going to him for help and that makes them comfortable. The second reason was that they want to see a women president in their lifetime. McCains biggest complaint, Iraq. Even from republicans. posted 05/02/2008 at 01:31:37

New polls have NC tied between Obama and McCain, Obama up by 3 in Colorado, up in New Mexico, N Dakota, Iowa and Nevada and within 5 points in SC, Virginia, Nebraska, S Dakota, Idaho and Alaska.

Many of these young "whities" were barely 20 years old and what exactly they continue to die for nobody knows.

If a preachers comments taken out of context have more of an effect on your vote than over 4,000 dead American kids and half a million innocent Iraqis, and a massive debt for our kids and grandkids, I for one don't believe you ever planned on voting for him to begin with. posted 04/25/2008 at 01:18:01

The Self-Loathing Liberal Media

I disagree. There is no liberal or conservative media, that is a lie. It's corporate media. The NYT and CNN sold the lies about Iraq more than any other news outlets. They print lies and investigated nothing. Now it's CNN once again who is pushing for more war against other countries while giving what's really happening in Iraq little to no attention.

This is not liberal or progressive media. It's not conservative media either. Conservatives do not stand for military intervention all over the world or out of control spending and they don't have a true voice in the media either. Talk radio isn't news, it's infotainment and I don't believe real conservatives who have principals and think for themselves take it any more seriously than progressives take cable "news" seriously. It doesn't matter which party you belong in, nobody on the airwaves represents the people anymore, just their bottom line. Truth doesn't generate cash but it's been made pretty clear that endless wars, shouting matches, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith do. posted 04/24/2008 at 18:35:12

Evan Bayh, Hillary Supporter, Discourages Superdelegates From Endorsing

It's not that bad. I have lived in Indiana for 4 years and after living in many other states including Ohio I can tell you the democrats in Indiana are far more progressive than dems in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania. The Indiana democrats are much closer to those in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington and Oregon. Even my church going republican neighbors are far more tolerant on social issues than in many other states. The schools here are excellent, some of the best public schools that I have seen with very high graduation rates and an above average number going on to college.

I truly believe if a democrat running for president actually spent time in a state like Indiana they would have a shot to win people over. Problem with democrats is for too long they have written many states off as "red" and don't bother to show up. Howard Dean and Barack Obama seem to get this, thus the 50 state strategy, which is starting to show signs of paying off. Look at Idaho. Obama showed up. He ackknowledged these people and told them they matter and he got like 70% of the vote and is now only down by 3 points behind McCain in that state. Hillary didn't bother and McCain is beating her by nearly 40 points in Idaho. People just want to know they matter. posted 04/24/2008 at 19:42:43

Bill and Hillary's Biggest White House Stresses Were Self-Inflicted, and Obama Should Say So

I have no doubt Senator Obama has plenty of ammo to attack Senator Clinton with and I also have no doubt there are many who would love to see him do it, myself included, but he can not. Everytime he has gone after Senator Clinton he has helped her because there are too many uninformed women out there and all they see is a man attacking a poor helpless woman. Barack Obama is in a tough spot. If he doesn't attack some think he looks weak, if he does many more feel sorry for her, especially when President Clinton goes around saying "the boys are beating up on a girl".

In Obama's defense though, I think his campaign has run a brilliant and stealth like campaign on the ground and under the radar screen. They seem to be able to inflict damage without people realizing it is even happening. This is good for democrats and should have the GOP really worried. posted 04/19/2008 at 19:01:47

An Issue of Legitimacy and Democracy

WTF? In the 2004 democratic primary the winner was decided with 21 contests left. Big states like Illinois, Pennsylvania, NC, Oregon and New Jersey didn't have ANY impact on the outcome. Were they disenfranchised??? Every primary season there are states left out of the process and it's almost always one I'm living in at the time. Why hasn't anyone cared about this until now? And what about the stanglehold the two parties have over the process making it almost impossible for an outsider to get in? Is this democratic? What about the media shutout of candidates like Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul? Where were the party people then? Did any of the other campaigns speak up when Kucinich was kept out of debates? I didn't think so. This whole process has never been fair or the least bit democratic. posted 04/07/2008 at 01:44:56

Hillary And Bill: We Aren't Going Anywhere

I just got back from the grand opening of the Obama campaign office here in Indiana (one of them). It was crazy! They have a three story building and so many people showed up they had to move everything out into the street. His campaigns organizational skills are mindblowing. The staff had people screaming in the street. People were so fired up they were signing up for neighborhoods in groups and running to their cars to get started.

The crowd was about 50% white men between 20 and 40 years old and the rest a good mix of young and old and black and white. This is a pretty republican part of the state but it just elected a democratic mayor and the loudest cheers came when the mayor started yelling "lets turn Indiana blue!".

Iv'e never seen so many people so excited about a politician. It was fun to be around so many people as excited as I am! Most of you have probably been to political rallies before. This was my first and what fun!! Hillary was here last night. She was over an hour late which didn't sit well with all the seniors. One of the first questions to her was from a woman that asked..."I'm worried about my 17 year old sons future. What kind of job can he expect when he is older?" Hillary responded..."It depends on whether or not I'm president." posted 03/29/2008 at 14:57:14

Obama-Bloomberg Ticket? MSNBC Points Out Potential

This ticket doesn't make sense to me. Obama is already polling much higher than McCain in blue states (obviously) and is even polling higher against McCain in New York than Hillary is. What I have been astonished by is in recent polling between Obama and McCain, they are tied in Virginia and Colorado, Obama has a lead in Iowa(+9), Nevada(+4), New Mexico(+7) and N. Dakota(+4). But in some strong republican states McCain isn't leading by much over Obama. He only has a 3 point lead in S. Carolina and S. Dakota. Even more fascinating is states like Utah and Montana. When it's McCain against Hillary he beats her by 38/40 points. When it's Obama against McCain, McCain is down to 7 points in montana and 9 points in Utah. In Idaho McCain is beating Hillary by 37 points but beating Obama by only 3points. Same in Nebraska. McCain beats Hillary by 28 points but is only leading Obama by 3.

Obama needs a VP that can reassure voters in the midwest and Virginia and S Carolina. If he does that he may win states the democrats (with the exception of Howard Dean) never thought were possible. I think his Vice President should be either a military guy like Webb or Zinni or someone with a little pull in the midwest. I love Claire McCaskill but I don't know if enough people know her. Bloomberg would be best as an economic advisor. posted 03/27/2008 at 18:29:31

Hillary's Approval Rating Plummets In NBC/WSJ Poll

You mean like when we attacked the wrong country after 9/11? Clinton, McCain and Bush sure got that one right.

I will take my chances with Obama and his foreign policy team. I'm pretty confident if Venezuela invaded Columbia or Russia invaded Ukraine Obama wouldn't bomb Iran for it. McCain and Clinton? Not so sure. posted 03/27/2008 at 02:34:59

MSNBC Opens The Door On Hillary's Participation In The Family

A woman from Air America brought this up on Lou Dobbs yesterday near the end of the show. When Lou asked her to explain the "Family" and who it's members are she looked a little scared. A fellow panelist seemed to sense she was uncomfortable, acknowledged she was right about it and then changed the subject. I think there are some journalists that want to investigate this but seem affraid. I think this is a job for David Shuster. He seems pretty fearless. posted 03/26/2008 at 16:22:09

Reid: "Things Are Being Done" To End Dem Primary Before Convention

I don't know where Harry fits but what I do know is that your first link backs up my theory that Howard Dean was done in from within his own party. Your second link scares me and really makes me miss Senator Wellstone even more than I already did. 4,000 Souls

It is not a "hatecult" it is a church, you are just not used to hearing people speak with passion and he wasn't preaching anti-Americanism, he was echoing the words of a white, 35 year career United States Diplomat. The facts are out there, as is his entire sermon. But your not interested in facts because they don't support your candidate. You are right about Americans not being that stupid though, at least not like you. Since this story broke Senator Obama picked up 10 more delegates in Iowa and is still leading in small donations and still leads handily in donations from enlisted military personnel, including my family members, one of which is in Iraq as we speak. posted 03/24/2008 at 22:56:39
Thank you Senator Byrd for all you do. You, along with Senator Feingold and the late Senator Wellstone are true patriots and about the closest we have come to our founding fathers in too many years. Your speech you referenced in March of 2003 is saved in my youtube file and I will never forget your words. I watched it live on C-SPAN as it happened and cried when you asked..."Where is everybody?" and then added "The senate floor is ominously silent." My nephew is in Iraq, again. We listen in horror everytime a story of soldiers deaths in Iraq are reported and believe it or not have the same sorrow for the Iraqi citizens who have done nothing to deserve this. Senator, I beg you. Please support Senator Obama and help him in West Virginia. And please help him bring the killing to an end. posted 03/24/2008 at 20:34:54

Three Myths About the Democratic Race

Your wrong. If Obama wins the same states Kerry did (safe democratic states), which did not include Ohio or Florida, all he has to do is pick up one or two of the swing states. He is very popular in Iowa and Clorado, did very well outside democratic populated areas in Nevada, lost by barely 1% in New Mexico and now hasGov. Richardson's support and with the right vice-president (like Webb or Zinni) Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina and Georgia could easily be in play. Hillary will win none of these. posted 03/24/2008 at 22:08:51

Obama and Palestine

The fact that Senator Obama ranked dead last on the list of acceptable American Presidential candidates to the Isreali government is one of the reasons I was drawn to his candidacy. I am so sick and tired of candidates running for president in The United States of America having to get the blessing of the Israeli government before being "viable". I don't know when this started but what I do know is that every candidate from both political parties must make a trip to Israel and get "permission". Unfortunately, this is as true as ever and Senator Obama is catching on.

The fact that he caught the irony so early on that it's harder to step out of line in America than it is in Israel when dealing with Israeli policy is good to know, as is the fact he actually spoke openly about his reservations with the pro-Likud part of the Israeli community, both here and in Israel. I don't know of many candidates or Presidents for that matter that have done that in front of a Jewish crowd. Another Irony is that many of them probably agree and are as shy about speaking out as anyone else is.

Not so in Israel. The media in Israel is far more critical of the actions of their government, particularly the far-right, than the U.S. media has probably ever been. I understand what Senator Obama needs to do, what they all need to do but I'm convinced that in his heart he realizes there are two sides to this story and what I wouldn't give to have a president who actually did have real empathy for the plight of the Palestinians. Senator Obama has been great about listening to the people of this country and what they need and want, whether The Washington establishment agrees or not. I am hoping he will do the same with the Israeli people, whether or not the far-right of their government approves. Just as long as he is careful doing it and stays safe. posted 03/23/2008 at 23:39:08

Newsrooms Revolt!

May I suggest starting with ABC. The comments on their website are as vile and ignorant as anything that I have ever heard about on the Fox website. There are often 10 vile republicans for every one democratic poster. You can't help but to jump in to defend your fellow democrat that is being ganged up on. posted 03/24/2008 at 19:24:59

Rush Limbaugh's Involvement With Illegal Cross-Over Voting For Clinton

If you read the entire article, it clearly states that voting with "malicious intent' to change the outcome of an election is a fifth-degree felony in the state of Ohio which carries a $2500 fine and up to 12 months in prison. posted 03/21/2008 at 16:36:18

Obama Endorsed By Bill Richardson

I disagree. I just watched, not even 10 minutes ago, a video of white women in Pennsylvania commenting on how moved they were by Senator Obama's speech and how they are now torn betwwen voting for him or Hillary. His poll numbers are coming back up now and did you happen to see the people in the audience today in Oregon?

People need to relax about the race issue. The people are not as divided as the media makes them out to be. Will Obama win the white vote in the south? In Tennessee or Mississippi? No. But neither will Hillary. Al Gore couldn't even win Tennessee.

What Obama can do however, is win in Iowa, NM and Colorado and with the right VP he has a pretty good shot at Virginia, North Carolina, Missouri and Nevada. If he can win the same states as John Kerry and just pick up one of those above he wouldn't even need Florida and Ohio.

Think positive. This is a good time for dems. Also think about the future. The statistics show that which ever party young people start out in, they tend to stay in. The democrats, thanks to Senator Obama, have an opportunity to snatch up a whole new generation of voters this year. That is what I hope they don't blow. posted 03/21/2008 at 19:40:45
