Hooked on Hillary

I know what Narcissistic Personality Disorder is. Overconfidence is one symptom. Deliberately misleading people is another.

I don't suppose any of this hysteria about Hillary in Bosnia has anything to do with trying to get people's attention away from the Rezko trial? posted 04/01/2008 at 02:02:17
You're a prime example of what the jbsouth means. Obama good, Hillary bad. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that if Wright preaches hate in one sermon, he will most likely preach hate in others. Wright was not speaking as a marine veteran. He was using his role as a religious leader in his sermons. The role of a religious leader is to foster faith and love for God, mankind and their religion, not to promote their political ideas or opinions. If Wright wants to change policy, he should run for office. To think that Wright's church does this openly and tax free is unbelievable.

Everyone says stupid things. But if you are a Minister of faith giving a sermon to your congregation, recording that sermon so others can see/hear it, disseminating it over the internet for the world to see, you have to be responsible for all of your words. I'm sure bin ladin isn't worried about context and intent. He's probably using it to recruit ever more suicide bombers.

As far a Hillary's remark is concerned, there were threats that day. If you're landing in a war zone and directed to keep your flack vest handy it's for a very good reason. You can't hear gunfire over the engine sounds of an army transport. posted 03/31/2008 at 21:29:14
Nora, I know exactly what you mean. Women are held to higher standards. Ginger Rogers said it best' "I did everything Fred did only backwards and in high heels". posted 03/31/2008 at 19:00:46

Dear Democratic Elite: Back Off

Are we raising the black issue again? Obama is bi-racial. His wife is black. The only people who seem to notice the color of Obama's skin are his supporters. posted 03/29/2008 at 12:13:35
You sound like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum because you didn't get your way. Hillary will not drop out. Get over it. posted 03/29/2008 at 11:49:32

Chris Dodd: This Race Must End

The Bosnia thing is a prime example of how Obama's supporters and in all probability Obama himself are trying to swiftboat Hillary. General Nash, who was with the welcoming group on that day wrote a reply to the original article about this. He clearly stated that when he returned to base he learned that there had been reports of threats. They were indeed in danger. A reporter who was on Hillary's plane that day was interviewed on CNN just this evening. She stated she remembered being told to sit on their flack jackets so they'd be ready. Hillary did not deliberately lie. You people are ignoring the truth. That's dishonest. That's swifboating. What Obama's worried about is that people are beginning to realize what MSM and Hillary haters have been doing. posted 03/28/2008 at 18:35:50
You're right, whizkid. I joined this site with an open mind. The third grade mentality and endless vulgarity of obama's supporters has closed it for me. It's embarassing to be a Dem anymore. posted 03/28/2008 at 02:58:52

Teddy Kennedy (they are vicariously electing Teddy, of course) is no doubt afraid that Hillary intends to do what he (Teddy) tried to do to wrestle the nomination from Carter in 1980 at the DNC. He is projecting his approach on her. That's why all the paranoia. posted 03/27/2008 at 21:15:55
Edwards has standards. He also has a lot of followers who think he was the best candidate. Alienating them will not help your cause. posted 03/27/2008 at 19:41:30

Progressives for Obama

Tom, I agree with you about everything except Obama. I worry that Obama's followers seem to have a starry-eyed notion about him as the answer to all that is wrong with this country. Expectations are unrealistic and he is promising things that he will not be able to deliver on. When that happens the disillusionment will set in. What will be left is a generation of cynical voters who will stay home in future elections.

This was not how JFK ran his campaign. Kennedy was the "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" President. He was more than a gifted speaker. He inspired people to work for change, not to expect change to be handed to them. We all realize that change is necessary. But if I learned anything from the 60's, it is that change is a notion that strikes panic in the hearts of people who have anything to lose. They got Nixon elected in the '69. I do not want them to elect McCain in '08. posted 03/26/2008 at 14:14:26

Hitchens: Obama Sold Out His Grandmother

Good grief, zizyphus! What do you think this is all about? It's perfectly appropriate for Obama's detractors to attempt to discredit him. After the election it will be too late.

Obama's grandmother isn't around to defend herself . But what she said most probably was not meant to go beyond the room much less televised throughout t he world. It's about family values, loyalty, discretion, ability to make decisions, It's about character. posted 03/25/2008 at 23:53:48

McCain Benefits From Protracted Democratic Race

Your comment is so amusing. You talk about your candidate as being a uniter, then divide the Party in every way you can by making senseless accusations. The only point of view that is allowable is yours. As long as there are attitudes like yours, the Party will be divided. posted 03/24/2008 at 22:24:38
We Dems are very creative and we may yet find a way to lose election in November, but after eight years of Bush and Co. it's not likely McCain will be the next White House occupant. Most people really believe a Dem will win the Presidency in the fall. As a result, the primaries are being taken more seriously than I've seen in my lifetime. That is why this Primary is so protracted, why nerves are so exposed, why primary voter turnout is setting records. posted 03/24/2008 at 21:07:12

A McCain Moment: Do You Want Four More Years of This?

My observations were perfectly legitimate. Rev Wright was referred to in the article above. Poor judgment. posted 03/25/2008 at 19:16:18
If McCain has so much respect for the military he should be visiting the families of the 4000 men and women who died in Iraq, But I don't think the coverage of the Rev Wright sermon was overdone. Wright knew Obama is running for President. Poor judgement on Wright's part. Poor judgement on Obama's part. posted 03/25/2008 at 16:08:24

Cheney On 4,000 Dead Americans: They Volunteered

Most of the "volunteers" I know are there because they can't find a job elsewhere and have families to support. Their jobs have all gone overseas. At least when there was a draft everyone had an equal chance of being killed. posted 03/25/2008 at 14:01:54

Obama's Great "Bad Week"

Thanks for correcting me on this. I hope the rhetoric will be toned down as we approach Denver. Too much a stake. posted 03/24/2008 at 14:24:40
After not following the news for the holiday weekend I've just heard that now Obama is comparing Clinton to Joseph McCarthy. I don't know what the rationale can be for this claim, but it's certainly a new low point for the Dems and on a par with those who compare him to Jim Jones. At the very least it is not something one would expect to hear from a candidate who has had a good week; not the words of a unifier. I suspect as soon as McCain's people can make it back to their chairs after the impromptu celebration they're no doubt having over Obama's remarks, I suspect we'll be hearing from them about this. posted 03/24/2008 at 13:02:39

How Will Hillary's Bosnia "Whopper" Play in the Media?

I've lost count of the comments I've tried to post here that have not made it past the monitors. Seems anything not supporting Obama is not allowed. What's he worried about? posted 03/22/2008 at 14:51:11
"This latest deception is documented in detail in the Washington Post by a reporter who was there." Has anyone even read the article? Under "the facts" it states, "As a reporter who visited Bosnia soon after the December 1995 Dayton Peace agreement. . ." . The reporter was not even there on the day Hillary visited. That's deliberately misleading.

What's more, that article was updated this morning with a comment from Gen Nash who actually was there. I would invite you all to read it. So put the ropes away, kids. There will be no lynching today.

btw, where was Obama on March 25, 1996? posted 03/22/2008 at 13:16:51

The 100 Years War

Good article. I recently saw a grainy video of Presidend Eisenhower's farewell address (1960?). Eisenhower was ten times the war hero McCain is, but he learned the lessons of war. In it he warned of the dangers of the up and coming military industrial complex. How prophetic. Seems his worst fears have come true. posted 03/25/2008 at 20:20:03

Bill Clinton And Jeremiah Wright Photo Uncovered

You begin your comment by saying that Rev Wright has a valid way of looking at American history, then end by asking everyone to stop being so cruel with their words. Have you listened to Wrights sermon(s)? He didn't just say God damn America once, he shouted it over and over again at the top of his voice.

Certainly this country is not perfect, but this minister of faith was using the God's word to preach hatred, quoting passages out of context claiming it as proof that God was damning this country because of Iraq, Hiroshima, Pearl Harbor, Tuskeegee, AIDS, . . .

Everyone knows that in matters of faith logic is not required so it's easy to use faith to influence people's decisions on an issue once it's framed within the context of faith. The Rev Wright is well aware of this and is using his position as leader of a Christian church to influence and, yes, frighten his followers into voting for Obama. His sermons include direct condemnations of Hillary Clinton and overtly favor and name Obama. This from a tax-free Christian organization? How can anyone with any intelligence watch those venemous remarks and not be outraged.

In the last general election many Christians were emotionally blackmailed by the conservative right who pled the anti abortion issue as a reason for voting for Bush. I am aware of this because I worked the phones for Kerry in Cleveland and spoke one on one with many of these people. Rev Wright is using the same approach. So, please do not expect us to believe that we are merely misunderstanding his intent. His intent is perfectly obvious. posted 03/21/2008 at 11:42:18

Bill O'Reilly Needs to Enroll in "Understanding the Internet 101"

Actually, I have seen O'Reilly in the past on a few occasions. I was speaking figuratively. What I've seen of his show I've found to be predictable, sarcastic, and tacky. It's just not worth the time. With current events reported 24/7 on I don't know how many cable, network, radio, internet and printed sources it's a practical impossibility to see everything that's available so we must choose our sources.

I don't mean to be uppity about this. I know some people like to watch O'Reilly and I respect that. But one doesn't need to be around a con artist every day to know how to spot one. If I were explaining it to a child (and I have), I'd suggest CSPAN's morning call-in show as an example of news events, interviews with reactions and solid impartiality. posted 03/21/2008 at 18:19:44
I never watch FOX news. It's a waste of time. So I can't comment about O'Reilly except perhaps that he is a well known ambush-type right wing journalist by his own admission. But it's common knowledge that HuffPost is extremely and unabashedly pro-Obama. Indeed, many of my posts supporting Hillary, carefully worded as the are, never make it past the moderators on this site. Yet insulting personal remarks about Hillary's supporters (most of us are college graduates and many have advanced degrees!) are the norm.

I'm not complaining. It's your site, Arianna, and you may use it as you please. But is it really a service to your candidate when you alienate moderate Dems whose support Obama will need should he win the nomination? There is a chasm between the moderate and radical liberals that is increasing exponentially as the primary season progresses and it will very likely be the determining factor that determines who will be President next January. posted 03/21/2008 at 15:28:45
