I know plenty of women in their own right who would make great candidates, who don't have a fraction of Hilliary's baggage, and live their lives around integrity, something Clinton has demonstrated she completely lacks. Many women, including myself studied their records, I read their books, and their voting records...in the end, I decided that Hilliary had far too many negatives, too much baggage, and the upcoming lawsuit regarding campaign fraud did not help either. Add to that, her vote to support Bush with an Iraq invasion, and her subsequent vote to declare Iran a terrorist state made her also in-eligble. I would merely ask someone who asserts he can't get the white vote to explain why it was a blow out in Washington State (Blue side and Red Side) and his presumptive win in Oregon that also shows a blow out...both Oregon and WA (my home state) are very white...about 95%...he is also expected to win Montana which last time I checked was extremely white...I just don't buy the argument that WV is a signal other than they don't like Obama, and that's their right.

This election represents the changing of the guard...from our racist past to more accepting present, where racial divides are blurred by new generations who have been raised in the shadow of Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. It's sad to say, as I have some in own family, that the older generations of this nation will hold onto their belief that black is black, and white is white; no middle ground to be found. Ed Koch falls exactly in that mix of older white Americans who refuses to allow the civil rights movement to come full circle. We have seen, time and time again in this election the very people we thought to be progressives espouse some of the most inflammatory remarks. Case in point is G. Ferraro, who I believe did not think her remarks were racist...but that's the point, it is so ingrained in their being that even they are completely unaware of how their words sound to a generation that has cast racism aside. This election will be close, I have no doubt that racism will play a major role against Obama, but I believe that with the movement of the younger generations becoming energized and willing to show up at the polls, people from my generation who are not swayed by racial polarization (GenX) will trump the boomers and older generations who still believe in perpetuating the racial divides. posted 05/07/2008 at 19:53:06

Moving Forward

No rest for the weary..the time to rest is after the November election. In 04' my candidate lost the primary. Granted, it wasn't nearly as contentious as this one, but it stung and in my heart I did not like Kerry, but I did my utmost best to get that man elected. I put in hours volunteering on the streets, I blogged my heart out for the guy, and cast my vote for him, because I knew the alternative would be far worse...and I was right. There is but one thing I will say to Clinton supporters...SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES. We simply cannot afford McCain appointees, and there are at least 2 that will be up for retirement in the next four years. We have already seen the damage the SCOTUS can do with their "conservative" rulings...to tip the court completely conservative will affect this nation and a women's right to choose for at least the next 50+ years. posted 05/07/2008 at 23:14:02

Michigan doesn't deserve to be seated....not only was he NOT on the ballot, but it is a democrat run state, and they had every opportunity to abide by the rules...but they scoffed, thought they would take the republican controlled Florida route. Who Will Nominate A Woman To The U.S. Supreme Court?

Personally, I would prefer that a potential judge be "judged" based on the content of their character than the color of their skin, or what lies between their legs. I want a person who has demonstrated competence, who will abide by the constitution, and uphold human rights.
