Thank you Hume, I like the comment. posted 05/16/2008 at 16:21:19
She made an excellent comment calling Bush on this outrageous comment. She did it right away. She was good. She won't be the nominee and she was very good on the quick, correct response on this. And we are now all friends with Clinton's supporters. posted 05/16/2008 at 16:15:03

Obama is doing well. He speaks the truth and when you speak the truth you don't have to scream. It is more effective sometimes just to simply state the truth. Let McBush yell and scream.. Strident does not necessarily equal forceful. posted 05/16/2008 at 15:51:13
You may be right on this..but let's leave that for now. Senator Clinton's reponse to W's comment was appropriate and articulate. Good for Senator Clinton. Dubya's statement was particualrly galling because Prescott Bush WAS a real Nazi appeaser. Obama's response here was on time and on target. posted 05/16/2008 at 15:48:04

Senate Votes to Reverse FCC Decision Allowing Media Consolidation

This is indeed good news...so far. Let's see how the main stream media handle this story. Anti-trust legislation needs to be revivied and this is a start..after the media we could move on to banks..and oil companies..and... I fear though that the MSM will bury this story. We will rely on Rachel and Keith, Jon and Stephen to keep us informed about this. Massive Blowback To NARAL's Obama Endorsement

What? We should want to be in Iraq for another generation? We should support an angry rodent who thinks that torture is OK? A man who would continue to support the enrichment of the extremely rich on the backs of the struggling poor.? A man who would make the income disparities in this country even more dramatic..a man who seeks the support of preachers who say Katrina was vengeance from God because there was a gay parade planned for NOLA? A man who would continue throwing our grandchilren's tax money at the war profiteers? McCain would be just like Bush. And he doesn't know the difference between the Shia and the Sunis. posted 05/15/2008 at 15:57:35
What you say is correct BUT sometimes it is not helpful to trumpet all truths. We need to be considerate of Clinton supporters, and realize that many of them are disappointed at how this campaign has turned out.. We need to woo them back to support the Democratic nominee. It's OVER..so..make nice now. posted 05/15/2008 at 15:46:25
Maybe NARAL should have waited three weeks. Senator Clinton's supporters are hurt and angry and those of us who did not support her (because of her Iraq vote, the Kyl/Lieberman vote, her ties to AIPAC) need to step back and allow Cinton's supporters to process their anger. Clinton should not have hired Penn, her campaign should have been smarter and not so nasty..still the Democrats are going to need Clinton supporters in November..so NARAL probably should have waited three more weeks. It's time to take the longer view now. posted 05/15/2008 at 15:38:36

Duh. Well of course embedded reporters are going to be reporting stories that reflect positively on the people who are protecting them and feeding them and relating to them every day. Things might not go so well for the embedded reporter if he/she did not report the troops activities in a postive light. That was always the problem with imbedded journalists...it severely slants the reporting. HOw smart do you have to be to figure this out? posted 05/15/2008 at 11:01:56

Even as Clinton Wins West Virginia, Obama's Magic Number Drops to 143 Delegates -- His Political Stock Rises on News from Mississippi

This notion is trumped up by the people who want "hard-working white Americans", or as Howard Dean put it "guys in pickup trcuks with confederate flags on their windshields"..it is an effort to scare those voters into voting once again against their own best interests. It's a hot button issue with that population. So they'll use it..just as they used the "Hamas" non-issue against Obama. whatever they can find to use, they'll use it. The Republicans are desperate not to lose these voters..and guess what..they seem to be getting smarter. So it probably won't work. posted 05/14/2008 at 16:36:36

Colbert's image that she'll spring forth from the chest of the nominee, Alien-like, as he gives his acceptance speech has stuck in my mind. Let Senator Clinton continue her campaign until June 15th. It would be most unseemly (not to mention possibly bloody) were she to attempt a takeover of the convention. I don't think she'll do that. Agreed McPander! I say let her stay in. If she is viewed by the rest of the party as a spoiler, (and she may be unless her campaign focuses on McCain and not Obama), the promising Senate career is over. So let her stay in, let them vote it out. If she becomes a more positive campaigner that will be fine. Her supporters will be madder if they don't at least get to vote. Let them vote. Let her campaign but her challenger is not Obama..he has won...she should campaign against McCain. I actually think the Clinton's would prefer McCain to Obama..so she can run again. you will be voting against a woman's right to chose, and all the cases that come to the Supreme court will forever go against the common person and FOR the corporations that own us now. Calm down. Senator Clinton lost this nomination by her warlike votes in the Senate and hiring a campaign manager who did not even know how the Democrats select their delegates. It was hers to lose and she lost it. She has been a good Senator, sort of, except for the vote on Iraq, Kyl/Lieberman, her ignoring of the Levin amendment, her support for prosecuting flag burners.... other votes have been OK. And her husband did not help her at all. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Take a deep breath, calm down. posted 05/12/2008 at 07:48:04
you are correct about this..but the TV stations need to manufacture a contest when there is none there...so they can sell more Ciallis or cars ..so they can keep those viewers in suspense and tuning in. The white working class voters will vote Republican anyway unless they lose their houses and their kids come home from Iraq in boxes ..then maybe they'd vote Democratic. posted 05/12/2008 at 07:42:18
Edwards wife is NOT a supporter of Clinton..she is neutral and has said so many times. Elizabeth prefers Clinton's heath care plan to Obama's..but Congress will decide that anyway..so it really doesn't matter. The health care plans of Obama and Clinton (and Edwards, who was copied) still allow the for-profit health care insurance business to have control over your medical care. Better it should be in the hands of non-profits at least..but better yet a single payer, our government, should pay for full medical care for all citizens..(and even visitors to this country)...just as they do in every other western country, except, I think, Poland. If we cut the Pentagon budget and stopped the damn drug war we could pay for this..if we took all the money spent on these political campaigns and used it for health care the money would be better spent. posted 05/11/2008 at 22:57:57
I am no fan of HRC but I think she was just not thinking when she made the comment..She was just awkwardly quoting what the polling statistics on demographics were saying. The truth is that white working class people (those folks who Howard Dean gracelessly referred to as guys in pickup trucks with Confederate flags on their windshields)usually vote against their own best interests because they can be easily manipulated, and vote Republican. If their economic situation is bad enough and if enough of their loved ones come home from Iraq in a box, this voting pattern might change. posted 05/11/2008 at 22:43:52

Obama Campaign Launches "Vote For Change" Voter Registration Drive

Israel is one thing and Jews are another. They are not the same. Get a grip. AIPAC is not a good bunch. There are many moderate Israelis who do not love the U.S. and its ways. Just don't confuse the state of Israel with all Jews. And the U.S. is in a position to get them to be nicer to their neighbors and to calm their neighbors down..The problem here is that too much of our economy is based on making war. If peace were to break out around the world think of all the companies here in the U.S. that would go belly up. Which is why we need to create many good jobs in non-war related businesses posted 05/11/2008 at 07:42:44
There are a lot of multi-national companies who don't want anyone out of their little clique in the office. They will stop at nothing, I fear, to hold on to their power. President Obama will need a lot of support in taking on the ruling oligarchy. posted 05/11/2008 at 00:34:28

(If you have traveled outside the U.S., you know that people in foreign countries do not like this administration, nor the voters who put them there..at all. We need to make amends.) Any President who wants to change the way this government is run (that is ..it is owned by multinational corporations) will have a huge battle on his/her hands. Maybe Soros will pay her off...or Halliburton or Bechtel. The idea of her being his running mate is outrageous. Why when he is campaigning for change would he bring on the Clintons? Bad idea. Better to put her on the Supreme Court where she might be pretty good and we can get her out of the Senate where her votes for the invasion of Iraq, Kyl/Lieberman not to mention her lack of a vote against the bankruptcy legislation have not been helpful. Really good looking guys are frequently not-so-hot lovers. As to not-so-good looking guys..they often try harder, are funnier, and make more money. Chris Matthews Admits: MSNBC Bosses Were "Basically Pro-War"

GE, owner of NBC/Universal, makes engines for warplanes. The media conglomerates need to be broken up with anti-trust legislation..again. It is insane that media companies are allowed to have connections to larger companies that profit from war. If you think about it a bit you can see why the gigantic companies that profit from wars..should be kept away from owning..the public's airwaves. But woe be to a candidate who would speak of this during a campaign (Howard Dean did and they targeted him and they got him with an enhanced "scream" that drowned out all the other voices in the room). The Republicans are already planning the fix as they have in the past two elections. There needs to be a way to verify the vote.. paper receipts..the voter gets two, checks that they are her/his correct vote..one goes to a box to be counted in the future if the computer vote tally does not match the exit polls....the other paper ballot the voter brings home and puts in a safe place, in case a recount is necessary. It's the people who count the votes, in the end, who determine the election. The media should have been all over this comment (I think Jon Stewart was). It is Israel, not Iran that has nukes. It is Israel who is the loose canon over there..likely to bomb any country they dislike. Iran has many educated middle class people. And now, because of us, Iran is in control of Iraq and we've messed up the whole balance of power there. Isreal takes water from rivers that used to supply Jordan with water..now communities in Jordon have no water at certain times because Israel takes their water. We need an administration that won't automatically side with Israel each and every time a crisis comes up. And we need to encourage Israel to be good neighbors. This "obliterate" talk is just more Bush, Cheney, Bechtel, war profiteer talk. That's why I oppose Clinton ..because she is dangerous bellicose. That church does all sorts of good community work that helps the people in the community..it is a service-oriented church. The sermons were probably the least of it. posted 04/30/2008 at 16:38:03
I hear that she attends a Bible reading group in the Senate..a breakfast group..that includes many right-wing pro-military types. I think I read about it on HuffPo weeks ago. posted 04/30/2008 at 16:19:42

Perhaps Reverend Wright is a supporter of Senator Clinton? Rev. Reynolds surely is. It doesn't matter. Obama will beat this. He is already the nominee..but this is dirty stuff and if Senator "if I knew then what I know now" is still scratching her way along at the convention it will be a terrible mess. posted 04/30/2008 at 16:16:58
She's still toast. posted 04/30/2008 at 15:50:37
Again, it was Clinton supporter, a Reverend Reynolds who invited Wright to speak. We need to know more about her and why she did this. And everyone should know that it was a Clinton supporter who booked Wright. Nasty stuff. Not surprising. It should come back and bite her in the face. posted 04/30/2008 at 15:48:31

Have You Left No Sense Of Decency?

WE all need to know more about Reverend Reynolds. And if she's bought and paid for by the Clinton campaign. This is all Clinton dirty tricks. Senator "if I knew then what I know now" has dug into her dirty trick pckets and pulled our Rev. Reynolds. posted 04/30/2008 at 15:44:20
Thanks I found it: " It also turns out that Reynolds - introduced Monday as a member of the National Press Club "who organized" the event - is an enthusiastic Hillary Clinton supporter. ... I don't know if Reynolds' eagerness to help Wright stage a disastrous news conference with the national media was a way of trying to help Clinton - my queries to Reynolds by phone and e-mail weren't returned yesterday - but it's safe to say she didn't see any conflict between promoting Wright and supporting Clinton." I think we need to know more about this Clinton supporter and why she promoted Wrights speaking for the Press Club. posted 04/30/2008 at 14:28:16
Thanks! Doing it now. Why hasn't the MSM included this? posted 04/30/2008 at 14:19:24
I received an e-mail this morning that said: "A Clinton campaign person is responsible for
getting Wright to speak in front of the press corps. No conspiraces there... just a simple fact." The writer promised to send sources. Has anyone else heard about this? IF so it would be nice to know exactly which Clinton campaign person set this up..and if money has been exchanged for this favor..or a promise of money was made. After all publicity IS money. posted 04/30/2008 at 13:47:21

Hillary Clinton To Face Bill O'Reilly On "The Factor"

Of course they'll try to support Senator Clinton. The Republicans are dying to run against her. They are not pleased that Obama will be the Democratic candidate. posted 04/29/2008 at 16:20:49

Elizabeth Edwards Denies Endorsement Rumors

as the granddaughter of a professional grammarian, I find this sort of petty goody-two-shoes comment infuriating. Our English useage changes constantly..talk about elitism. It's the thought that counts, not the grammar. posted 04/29/2008 at 15:07:40
me too a former Edwards supporter and many of my friends were Edwards supporters and have all moved to Obama. It was Clinton's VOTES for the war, for Kyl/Lieberman and her lack of support for the Levine amendment..that turned us all off. We don't believe we can trust her. He comment about Obliterating Iran didn't help. She's way too bellicose. And she lies. And she's toast already! posted 04/29/2008 at 14:40:35
Did we actually hear a ringing endorsement of Hillary (if I knew then what I know now) Clinton? I didn't hear any endorsement. The fact that Clinton voted the wrong way on 10/11/02 AND for Kyl/Lieberman and made the outrageously undiplomatic threat to "obliterate Iran" in the (unlikely) event that they attack Israel (it is Israel that is the nuclear power over there and not Iran)..I just don't think Elizabeeth Edwards is that dumb. She likes Clinton's healthcare plane because it madates care for everyone. But Congress will decide how the health care goes. I don't beleive Elizabeth would support bellicose Senator Clinton who takes money from the MIC. posted 04/29/2008 at 11:49:47

Howard Dean: Obama Or Clinton Must Drop Out In June

ReportThis, your imagined scenario is very scary indeed. Like a horror movie. She has said she'll support the Democratic nominee. Surely she would not misspeak? posted 04/28/2008 at 18:25:55
totally agree with M.S. Bellows, Jr. this is not Dean's fault. AND Senator Clinton should get out because she has lost now. I guess she just can't believe it. posted 04/28/2008 at 15:25:03

Clinton's Battering of Obama Is Brutal, Bloody -- But Fair

Clinton's votes on October 11, 2002, and for Kyl/Leiberman and her lack of support for the Levin amendment were enough to stop my ever voting for her again. But what really takes the cake were the comments about obliterating Iran. Hes she lost her mind? Her campaign has been truly loathsome. She has LOST and she should stop dragging this out and congratulate the winner and go back to New York and cast some more bad votes. I can barely stand to look at her anymore. She will not be the Democratic nominee and the sooner she can get her mind around this fact the better the Democrats will be. Out out damned spot! posted 04/27/2008 at 23:38:36

Pennsylvania Primary Helps John McCain

"That church" contributes enormously to the welfare of that community..it has all sorts of social programs. It's a big do-good-for-the-community organization. Wright was a Marine during Vietnam..better than can be said for our would-be First Gentleman. posted 04/23/2008 at 13:29:39
