Obama Memo: 17 Pledged Delegates Away From Winning Primaries

I would DEFINATELY trust them...

To undermine the campaign, try to get insider information to feed to the Republican campaign and slime machine, and to make sure that Barack is destroyed from within, and loses in 2008, so their Borg Queen can run again in 2012 on the "I-told-you-so-Shoulda-voted-for-me-What-did-all-that-hope-get-you-when-McCain-won" platform.

Hmmmm... And yes, I really do think she's sneaky enough to try this. And if she got elected in 2012, she and Bill would just issue Presidential Pardons to the 100s of people that broke laws, so that she and Bill could not get indicted for their part in the crimes. posted 05/16/2008 at 01:10:51

Is Clinton Looking For An "I Told You So" Moment?

If Hillary is staying it to support a 2012 Presidential run, in the hopes that Barack is defeated by McCain: The only thing that makes sense for Hillary to do is to make sure that Barack will NOT WIN in November. If this is her position, it makes sense that she direct her staff (for plausible deny-ability) to dig up as much mud as possible on Barack, and give it to the Republicans to use against him in the general. There are things that I bet she wishes she could have said on TV, but didn't want to appear more Republican in her tactics. If she wants 2012, she will be forced to be the 'secret informant' working with the most repugnant of Republican slime machines in an attempt to distroy Obama.

Only then would she be able to run against McCain in 2012, telling us all that we should have believed her in 2008 and that we were stupid to place our faith in someone that wanted to change Washington, running on a platform of hope. I think this is all very sad, and is a perfect example of a zero-sum game where for her to win, someone (or some party) must be split apart and destroyed. Only with the preceding path will she be able to run on a platform of "I told you so".

I'd like to hear some logic-based replied from current Clinton supporters. posted 05/14/2008 at 11:15:15

"Saturday Night Live's" Message From Hillary Clinton: "I Have No Ethical Standards" (VIDEO)

Wow! You'll really be surprised if you go over to the Republicans. I know - I just left there because I was finally SICKENED to the point that I would consider another party. I'm lucky Obama came along, or I wouldn't have anybody to vote for. Families? If you want a political party to care about your family, you better have a net worth of over $5 million unless you have an unwanted, unborn child, which they would force you to have instead of abort, leaving you to raise it and become the next generation of working poor. Their support of "families' is marginal. If you're lucky, your kids won't have to leard about genetics or evolution or birth control or STD's, and won't have art, science, math, music, drama, or even recess during primary school. Sounds GREAT!

McCain has changed his opinion on every issue because of political expediency except one: that he'll go ahead and violate campaign law and then his cronies will make sure the FEC stays understaffed so he can't get charged with anything. Good move for a Republican, actually. If you really liked Bush/Cheney, I'm sure you should consider moving red and voting for McCain.

If you did like Bush/Cheney, then I'm sure nobody up here would be sorry to see you leave - and take your opinion with you for that matter.

Or, you're just 'rattling your saber' about not voting for Obama. Another good, solid, Republican strategy. Run for state congress! posted 05/13/2008 at 10:55:34

If she spent enough time trying to become Catholic, it might work. The first woman Pope. That's a ton of power - and the position is for life, which would appeal to the Clintons. Now, I'm not an expert in logic, but if I read it correctly and draw the obvious inference:

Reconciliation from the Bottom Up

Reconciliation not only MUST but WILL occur from the ground up. I, an over-educated, elitist, latte-drinking, Republican-turned-Democrat-because-of-Obama, a voter in one of those states that "Does Not Count", hereby swear that I will stop correcting grammar and pointing out stupid logical flaws of Hillary supporters, and will start treating them nice. We all need to come together, as you said.

That's bottom-up reconciliation. This means, also, that I will not stop saying that Hillary is a self-absorbed, self-aggrandizing divider, who is willing to do anything to win at whatever game she plays. Bill and Hillary have the same philosophy in business: too bad for them they lost the Presidential pardon and can't silence the courts anymore with hundreds of pardons to cover their tracks. She's just lost too much political capital now to be effective in the short run. She'll have to go back to NY as junior Senator and actually write some legislation that has nationwide, important impact.

For now, I will do what the article asks, and support from the bottom up. Bottom-up does not, by definition, mean that we have to start thumping our chests telling each other how great Bill and Hillary are in some kind of revisionist daze. I will continue to hold the Clintons in odious contempt, where they belong, butI will embrace her supporters. posted 05/08/2008 at 11:03:11

Big Rewards Await Clinton If She Ends Campaign Now

I think most of the Obama supporters saying they don't want their money to go to Clinton are blowing hot air. This argument is made from the same place emotionally as "if X isn't the nominee, I'll vote for McCain".

If we started an internet donation site, and you could get Hillary out of the race for $25, would you donate? Yes. Well, we have that site, and it's called barackobama.com.

It's my firm belief that Hillary called for donations last night so that she can repay herself - and only THEN withdraw from the primary.

She's probably working on some deals right now with the DNC along the lines of:
1) Buy my candidacy out and bring us out of debt and I'll withdraw
2) Give me the Majority leader spot even tho I'm a junior Senator
3) Let me be the Governor of NY

Or something else. She WILL NOT WITHDRAW until she's gotten her money back and achieved some amount of political gain in some fashion. posted 05/07/2008 at 13:50:38

The Greatest Endorsement of All

Hillary is definately in it for herself, but let's be realistic. As soon as the May 20th primaries are over, and BHO has a majority of pledged delegates, there is no option available to HIllary other than the "nuclear option." We'll see a stream of SD's flow to Obama over the next two weeks, and a flood after that.

She will be working on:
1) Getting her $5 million or $11 million out via donations (which she just called for last night). Or perhaps getting BHO to buy her campaign out, or getting the DNC to buy her campaign out of debt.
2) Striking a deal with the DNC and party leaders, seeking majority leader or NY Governor, or something else to her liking.
3) Using a withdrawal from the campaign to increase her political capital and put some 'favors' back in her political bank.
4) Using a promise to back Barack 100% as a negotiating tool with the same people, so that she gains even more political capital.

Yes, it's a bit pessimistic and small-minded, but I've learned from the Clintons that they will try and profit and take favors even in the middle of a negative situation. She WILL HOLD OUT until she gets them. posted 05/07/2008 at 14:08:22

I'm Just Sayin': Open Letter to Superdelegates

Either candidate will be chosen by the UberDelegates. Both Hillary and Barack have the same situation, in that neither of them will reach 2024 pledge delegates by June.

Choice one is to declare Obama the nominee, as he has the most votes, the most delegates, the most states, and is geared to put into action a massive fundraising machine for the general election.

Choice two is to declare Hillary the nominee, overrule the clear wishes of a majority of people. The problem doing this is that it's what the Electoral College did when that gave Bush the Presidency and took the decision away from the people. To do the same thing intra-party would mean that the party was no better, and had learned nothing, and would be a defacto declaration giving up all its principals.

Choice two is not a good option unless you want McCain in Office and a third war in Iran. posted 05/01/2008 at 21:08:13

Party Leaders To Hear Florida, Michigan Delegate Challenges

I hope somebody somewhere starts a third party. Maybe Barack can run as a "Nationalist" or as a "Whig" or something else for his re-election in 2012. I bet he could start the party and take a good 25% of congress with him in a hearbeat. That would shake things up a bit. Pehaps it's time that the Democratic party withers and dies, and something new (and effective) takes its place.

For all I don't like about the Republican party, at least they are efficient at what they do. posted 04/28/2008 at 00:52:21
I don't think that 50/50 is fair, and Hillary will certainly never accept it. What might be more fair is to allocate at the percentages that they have earned overall in all contests in all states so far. Hillary would unfortunately not accept this either, because BHO would end up with 52.8% of all delegates to Hillary's 47.2%.

I would like to see it if ALL delegates were given a WHOLE count, not a half, and that Barack conceded to Hillary a 60/40 split in her favor. What would this mean to the count after ?

BHO ends up with (including endorsed SD's) 1902. Hillary would have 1729. This brings BHO only 123 delegates from the requiremed 2024. There are 408 pledged delegates left and 225 SD's. I think he could somehow manage to garner 19% of the remaining.

Again, if you look at the math, it's pretty clear that HIllary is just talking to talk, and by actually getting FL and MI seated would make her downfall happen more quickly.

I'm so sick of listening to her. The math just doesn't add up. But of course, I can add and subtract and think critically, so that probably makes me 'elitist' anyway, right? posted 04/27/2008 at 13:09:45

Was Race a Strong Factor in Clear Clinton Win in Pennsylvania?

"White" is vague now. It was not always. There was a time when Irish and Italian and German were not considered white. There was a quote from somebody I don't remember that said "now that Kennedy is President, Irish are finally white". That wasn't the distant past. We are lucky that over time we are all coming togather. It's hard for us today to not call Irish or Germans "white", but that has not always been the case. Now, many light-skinned hispanics are even called white. Who would have thought!

But the darker the skin, the deeper the predjudice. We might "accept" a few shades darker each decade, but there's a long way to go. posted 04/23/2008 at 11:44:58

I'm an Obama supporter and I did not like the 'debate'. No surprise. But I did not like it because it was not a debate. A debate is where an impartial moderator (unlike Stephasnuffalupagus who was Clinton's Media chief) asks a germain question to two or more people, and they take turns stating their opinion, then cross examining each other. There was no debate at all at the debate!

First, George should have recused himself from the debate because even the appearance of impartiality is bad, whether pro-obama or pro-hillary. Second, the so-called debate should have been called the trivia-pick-apart game, not a debate.

As far as them ganging up on Obama, bring it on! He handled it well, and 6 (six!) new superdelegates endorsed him this week. He's only down by 19 SD's, and he's actually ahead in SD's who are elected to office. Not to shabby.

Ever see a bumblebee with a flag lapel pin? I didn't think so. posted 04/18/2008 at 11:43:50

The ABC Debate: A Shameful Night for the U.S. Media

Did anybody else think it's funny that 1) Hillary never wears a flag pin either, and 2) Flag pins are made in China, definately not by USA Union employees but probably by 12 year-olds working 18 hour shifts.

That was two hours I will never get back in my life.

And by the way, isn't a DEBATE supposed to be where two people offer their views on one topic? This might have just been called the ABC "triviata pickapart show" posted 04/17/2008 at 02:03:57

Hillary, Time Is Running Out

Even if we buy your argument that he's an old fart and I do not: The older white men I've met would much rather have a white woman than a "colored man" any day.

However, and as a whole, I almost agree with your sentiment that it will be nice when the "greatest generation" is put to rest, and we can romanticize their achievements without being reminded of their bigotry. posted 04/23/2008 at 11:12:01
I'm not whining, so don't use the word "all". Generalizations are the tools of unplanned thoughts.

I'm actually quite proud of my candidate, who has been able to bring a 20% lead down to a 9.2% result. Quite a nice showing, considering that the state is perfect for Clinton.

And as a side-note, Obama was able to do in PA what the US was able to do to the USSR, that brought about it's collapse: he outspent her and bankrupted her campaign. Even with her $2.5 million last night, her campaign is still roughly $4 million in debt. And at a collection rate of $1.5 million a day into Obama's existing $41 million, I think he'll do just fine. posted 04/23/2008 at 11:08:26

Clinton's Pennsylvania Lead: Is It Really 20 Points?

He was not given a vote as a US Senator, but he was running a race to become a US Senator, and took substantial political risk in publicly opposing a popular war. It could have cost him his office. posted 04/15/2008 at 12:12:00
I have voted extensively for Republicans, so let me tell you how we think: In chosing between neo-conservatives, we will choose the one in red. If we buy Hillary's experience argument, we'll take John's 26 years in the Senate. If we want to talk about foreign experience, we'll take John's 5 1/2 years as a POW to prove he has the mettle necessary instead of Hillary's cake-and-tea parties as first lady. You posit that a Republican with an open mind on this site might be willing to actually take a look at Hillary as an option. You are wrong.

Fortunately for this country, there are moderate Republicans who feel that the party has been hijacked by ultra-religious hyper-Christians who have no grasp on the realities of the world. I for one think that Hagee, Parsley, etc. are just a few steps away in their religious ferver and cranial-rectaposis (head in ass) from the leaders of other radical faiths say, Muqtada Al-Sadr.

To be short: we do not hate Hillary, it's just that if we want someone like her, we'd rather have McCain, who is the real deal. If you want deviciveness, backroom politics, 100's of Presidential pardons and sneaky business deals, we'll vote Red, thank-you, not for a member of the DLC, a profiteer pretending to be a Democrat. posted 04/15/2008 at 12:09:58

Much Much Less than Meets the Eye in Obama's Victories

He's got my vote as a former Republican. Lots of people comment on my "Republicans for Obama" bumpersticker and say "me too!" Don't underestimate how much of an impact 8 years of George W Bush has had on us all, including a good percentage of traditionally red but disillusioned voters who also happen to have open minds and are well educated.

Which Democrat Has the Administrative Experience to Be An Effective President? Compare How Well They've Managed Their Campaigns

Astute. Taking it a bit further, Hillary supporters who are bitter over Barack's nomination may feel temped to vote McCain or sit out the election out of bitterness. The numbers of such voters are higher than what I feel it will eventually be after things settle. But Die-Hard Hillary fans will have a much easier time voting for Obama if they know their great candidate was actually brought down by Penn and not by herself or by Obama.

HillRaisers will be able to hate Penn and then pull the lever for Obama in the November. posted 04/08/2008 at 10:38:05

Did she 'misspeak' when she cast her vote to invate Iraq "WITH CONVITION" even though she had not read the National Intelligence Estimate of the situation in Iraq?

Perhaps she was sleep-deprived then too, when she voted in favor of the death of 4000 US Troops.

Hmmm...

Obama Plays Nice In Pennsylvania

I propose Amendment 28: No person, being the biological or adopted child, or a current or former spouse of a current or past President shall be permitted to either campaign or serve as President or Vice-President of the United States.

This would have solved our current situation with the Democratic race, and would have prevented George W. Bush from being in office at all. We're supposed to be a Democratic Republic, not a Dynastic Duopoly. And John Quincy Adams didn't add much anyway.

Female Clinton Supporters Fear Campaign Has Unleashed Sexist Backlash

I don't want Hillary for nominee. It has nothing to do with her "lack of a penis". I prefer to judge people on the content of their character, not the color of their skin or their reproductive plumbing. This is why I won't vote for Hillary: her character is, has always been, and will forever be, divisive and sneaky.

The only reason that she and Bill are not in a Federal Prison right now is because of the Presidential Pardon. Just google "Clinton Pardon" and read up on some of the people the choose to do business with. Nothing has stuck to her because she's really good at loopholes, avoiding process servers, and misplacing files.

I despise what Hillary is, how she does things, and what she stands for as a person. I respect many of her policies and I have no problem voting for a woman. I have a problem voting for someone who clearly needs to have inpatent treatment for being a "sneaky-aholic".

She has done nothing to "transcend gender", and I want an agent of change in the White House. posted 03/30/2008 at 10:58:59

Obama Gets Boost; Clinton Urged to Quit

One more in the bag. This brings the totals to:

Obama 1418 + 216 = 1634
Clinton 1251 + 250 = 1501

In the last 30+ days, Clinton has had a net gain of 12 to Obama's gain of 42. In the last 60 days, Clinton has watched her SuperDelegate lead drop from 96 to 34. Since Super Tuesday, the Obama lead in delegates has gone from 43 to 167.

Who said the momentum stopped? This will all be over soon. Take the time to find the emails of your uncommitted elected SD officials and urge them to endorse someone so that we can bring things to a close. posted 03/28/2008 at 12:09:44

Hillary's Honorable Future: A History Lesson

Hillary says that not counting the votes of FL and MI would be to disenfranchise those voters. The mother of all disenfranchisements would be to ignore ALL of the votes, right? So by the same logic, Hillary should support whoever has the most votes, and not try to overturn a popular vote with SuperDelegate votes.

Florida and Michigan disenfranchised themselves when they knowingly broke the rules. To overturn the will of the people (popular votes and delegate count) would disenfranchise all of America against their will.

If she does this, she will be known in history books as the "Great Disenfranchiser" posted 03/28/2008 at 12:21:32

Clinton Owes Obama An Apology

Islam is a religion, not a race. The only 'race' that equates itself with religion is judaism. There are lots of people who have an Islamic family and consider themselves Kenyans or Americans, or whatever else.

He's half-black, half-white, not half-Muslim. That said, there's nothing wrong with Islam, and many Muslims are good people. But the Bush war machine has taught America to fear Islam as a whole, and not just the extremists moving for muhejedeen. posted 03/27/2008 at 11:27:47

Clinton Donors Object to Pelosi Comment

I used to think that having big wealthy groups in power calling the shots was OK. I used to think that having a President be able to lie, cover up, and get away with it were prerequisites. Barack Obama came on the scene at just the right time. Here's one man who wants to fundamentally change the way the country is run - and it's not just about 'lobbyists and special interests'. It's about the super-rich running BOTH parties deciding what policy should be.

I wanted the Majestic 12 (google it) style of government because I thought that it worked. Well, it's time for a change, and Barack's my man. I switched parties because of him. Barack is tha only candidate that wants to restore habeus corpus - and he's probably the only candidate that really understands what that is and how our civil liberties have been eroded under Bush. I do not want a Fascist state under the guise of Democracy any longer.

What Barack has done has torn political power from the hands of the few and given it to the wallets of over a million citizens. If he can do this in a campaign, I believe that he can do the same in Washington. posted 03/27/2008 at 10:54:36

Time for Superdelegates to Ratify Obama's Insurmountable Pledged Delegate Lead and Settle the Democratic Nomination

He's not. First, the FL and MI parties elected to move their primaries and knew that there would be consequences. Second, all candidates and the DNC and the two state parties agreed in 2007 that FL and MI would not count. Third, the Legislatures of FL and MI blocked a re-vote. Fourth, Barack has been sceptical of a few proposals that were put forth for legitimate reasons.

Some of those reasons have to do with excluding voters in MI, and the ability of FL to pull off an accurate mail-in ballot system on short notice. If you remember "hanging chads", you'll understand why there is some doubt about the ability of FL to effectively manage the process.

Neither Hillary nor Barack get to "say what happens", regardless of how many times Hillary says it on TV. We're a country of laws, and everybody has to play by the rules, even if it hurts. posted 03/26/2008 at 15:11:22
