Countdown to Colbert: Any Advice?

Be loose. Be flexible. Unless you are extremely confident and skilled in your powers of sarcasm, do not try to one-up Colbert. Unless it's Jane Fonda, Colbert routinely annihilates guests who try to outdo him in satirical exchanges.

To the extent that it's possible, try to get in your two or three key points as saliently, clearly and, most importantly, as succintly as possible. Then roll with the comedic punches and have fun with it.

Look forward to your appearance. posted 05/15/2008 at 17:16:16

Jon Stewart Rips Into McCain, Stephanopoulos: Sweet Talk Express

Apparently, you are not a regular viewer of The Daily Show. If you were, you'd realize that for the most part, Stewart has a huge blind spot when it comes to McCain. He has repeatedly ignored McCain's flip flops, warmongering inclinations and other glaring flaws. In fact, Stewart often has expressed his admiration for McCain, even going so far as to portray him as distinct from the rest of the right-wing, neocon clan. It's as if Stewart has been clinging to the 2000-vintage McCain, when he denounced both Louis Farrakhan and Jerry Falwell as "agents of intolerance."

It's about time Stewart revoked the free pass for McCain and began derailing the "Straight Talk Express." posted 04/25/2008 at 19:37:03

ABC Hosts Heckled After Debate: "The Crowd Is Turning On Me"

We get it: You'll be determining your vote on the basis of patriotic fashion accessories.

It's certainly your right to regard that as a legitimate "issue," regardless of how hysterically pathetic that viewpoint is. It certainly simplifies matters, which may be what you require. posted 04/17/2008 at 11:54:53

The 100 Years Defense Makes No Sense

How does serving on the Kerry-Edwards campaign invalidate Mr. Goldenberg's criticisms? Rather than address their substance, you serve up an ad hominem, uh, argument. Of course, you're a Bush supporter, so it's unrealistic to expect anything else.

What military history do you suggest reading that would justify McCain's 100-year occupation? posted 04/16/2008 at 19:54:53

Unforced Error: Obama as San Fran Liberal Elitist

First, it was the "bowling blunder." Now, it's the "bitter" remark. It's becoming apparent that Mr. Kuhn is trying to position himself as the first to predict the moments that will one day be regarded as the debacles or "turning points" upon which Obama lost the election. I envision Mr. Kuhn as the kid in school who was always waving his hand to be called upon by the teacher, even before he or she had finished asking a question. You know, just to let his inferior classmates know he's smarter than them.

It's April, so no one knows where Obama will be come November, and how these alleged "gaffes" affected his fate. However, if he wins, can we count on Mr. Kuhn to explain how off-base his predictions were? We'll see. posted 04/14/2008 at 17:43:59

John McCain "Surprised" By Recent Iraq Developments

McCain is surprised because he's a dolt who sees only through red- white- and blue-colored glasses through which America is a noble, benevolent and omnipotent force that can always compel others to bend to our will. posted 03/31/2008 at 15:21:34

Hillary, 'Congenital Hawk,' Backed McCain on War -- Just As It Fell Apart

Greg Mitchell has been one of my heroes during this horrific fiasco. He deftly and calmly skewers all of the politicians, commentators and media organizations that try to obfuscate and retreat from their pro-war positions in the most devastatingly effective way possible: by throwing their own words back at them. posted 03/27/2008 at 19:58:38

Meghan McCain: "I Don't Understand Why In This Industry Of Politics, I Am An Airhead."

Meghan shouldn't be so modest. She qualifies as an airhead generally, not just "in this industry of politics." posted 03/26/2008 at 15:38:12
