Dems Not Backing Obama? Rahm Will Deal With It

Poll: Dems, Not GOP, Satisfied With Their Nominee

As we heard yesterday, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 that the detainees at Guantanamo have rights to fair representation...IMAGINE! That there were even FOUR who challenged this notion...A SPLIT DECISION TO UPHOLD THE NOTION OF FAIR REPRESENTATION! It goes without saying that the next president will undoubtedly appointment at least one Supreme Court justice. John McSame? Hmmm, where do you think HE'LL be on the continuum? His flip-flopping, pandering and war mongering apparently aren't sitting too well with his base and, for that, we can all be celebrating! The Republicans are seeming to be more and more fractured by the day and the Democrats?

YES WE CAN!!!

What's even sadder is that the sound bites work on too many people...the very people who need to be paying close attention to find a candidate who has actually ADVOCATED for them--not just one who has pandered to them. posted 06/13/2008 at 15:39:37

Webb's Audition: Blasts McCain, Assesses Obama's Appalachia Problem

era996--This election is not a popularity contest, it is about issues and policies. The Democratic platform is VERY different from the Republican and the two candidates, Obama and McCain, are simply not interchangeable cogs in a wheel. If you believe that they are, OR you are so upset that Hillary lost her bid, fair and square, just take your marbles, go home, and wait for the next war to begin. posted 06/05/2008 at 13:41:29

CNN Wins Big On Historic Primary Night

patmancando--The media didn't do it to Hillary...Hillary did it to Hillary. She was the presumptive nominee and Barack Obama was the audacious upstart with "the funny name and big ears." (quote/Obama) She was the heir apparent UNTIL she started her kitchen sink campaign tactics, aligned herself with John McCain and misrepresented actual facts (lied) ie Bosnia, Obama's record on Choice. As her sense of ethics became apparent, she began to lose LEGIONS of women, like myself, who simply refuse to compromise integrity and ethics as characteristics necessary in their president. It was all too easy for the media to sink their teeth into Hillary's antics and machinations. SHE was not victimized, women everywhere who have made gains based upon their own merit, sans lies and distortions, were. posted 06/05/2008 at 13:59:27

Maureen Dowd: Hillary's Still Here!

96Bravo--Maureen, like the rest of us, has tired LONG AGO of Hillary's antics and machinations to garner the Democratic nomination. I wouldn't think "charming" would be an adjective that Maureen would even want to be used for her column, and while I may be speaking out of turn, I wouldn't believe she would care one wit if some might find absolute candor, albeit with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure, "condescending'. People have passed beyong trying to balance political correctness with "Hillary, it's time to get the hell out before we all watch the Democratic party implode!" posted 06/04/2008 at 12:49:57
SanityClaus--Oh, NOW we have a misandrist...misogynist has been batted around ad nauseaum and, if nothing else, this campaign cycle has provided vocabulary building for citizens at large. Maureen Dowd tells it like she sees it, with humor included at no extra charge, and the price that she exacts from people like you? The misandrist label gets hung around her neck. Why don't you wag you finger and tell her, "Shame on you Maureen Dowd!" Pray tell, when did you graduate from using 'sexist'? Hillary Clinton's campaign has been able to limp along for months now for one simple reason--Hills has singlehandedly inflamed her supporters with her cries of victimization. She has harangued, she has whined, she has cried foul...and it has been a disgusting display. But, now, predictably, I will be labeled as a misandrist...or misogynist...for agreeing with Maureen. posted 06/04/2008 at 12:42:54

Why This Fifty-Five Year Old White Lifelong Republican Wants Obama To Win

Frank--Thank you for you compelling testimony! I will be emailing it to ALL of my friends, family and co-workers, particularly those who seem to be voting "Republican" regardless of the party's candidate or his policies. They believe that it really doesn't matter WHO says WHAT, it only matters to them that they vote Republican...it's really quite sad. They seem not to care that they are, and remain, blissfully unaware. But, for those of us who are ardent Obama supporters, we can do what we can do...and that is to try to share as much information about Senator Obama as we can. FIRE UP! READY TO GO! posted 06/07/2008 at 17:58:14

Senator Leahy To Clinton: Drop Out

bookerone--It's hard to understand how you've arrived at your conclusion...the biggest "embarrassment" levelled in this campaign has been Hillary's faulty assumption that the race would be over after Super Tuesday. Obama has won more delegates, more states (including Texas) and is ahead in the popular votes. The goal posts continue to be moved for Hillary and if the scenario were reversed, the cries for Obama to concede would be deafening.

It's also hard to understand your definition of "major"...every state is important because every voter is important. I live in Michigan, and while I would have loved my vote to have been counted for Barack Obama, I am NOT feeling disenfranchised. The DNC made its position very clear relative to moving the primary date up....Michigan's democratic committee (with governor Jennifer Granholm, a Clinton supporter) chose to ignore the decision and warning that its delegates would not be seated...Miss Hillary is now so very concerned about our feelings. When she was not losing, she didn't show one shred of concern regarding the decision the party muckity-mucks of MI and FLA had made. In fact, she had agreed to honor the DNC's decision. But, alas, hers was the only name on the ballot here in Michigan and many voters just stayed home. Now Hills needs her votes so she is all about care and concern for our feelings! It's about as authentic as the fear that she experienced running for cover under sniper fire in Bosnia... posted 03/28/2008 at 14:41:06

Barack Obama On "The View": Barbara Says, "You're Very Sexy!"

dr4Will--As a matter of fact, Hillary's former minister supported Jeremiah Wright...you might want to check it out. And, as for Obama "changing the subject and never saying he doesn't think he (Wright) is bad for hating America and Whites" --Obama wasn't changing the subject in order not to say that Wright was bad...he wasn't going to denounce the man. Obama, long ago, denounced what Wright had said, but as he said on the show, Wright has contributed much of a positive nature with his parishioners. While your piety allows you to be judgmental as it relates to Obama, I would assume that you've held yourself to the same standard of sanctimonious behavior and written off all friends and family who have said foolish and/or inflammatory things that were not in keeping with your beliefs and were an embarrassment to you. posted 03/28/2008 at 22:38:58

Michigan, Florida, and the L-word

audiophileguy--I agree with you completely, other than "Is there anybody except the Democratic National Committee responsible for this fiasco?" I live in Michigan and I do believe that our state democratic party is culpable. They didn't like the primary dates assigned by the DNC and therefore, chose to change the date of Michigan's primary, despite having been told that our delegates would not be seated if the date was moved up. It's kind of like wanting to change the rules, after they've been broken, rather than attempting to change rules/laws BEFORE they're broken. We all know very well which way is the responsible way of going about affecting change.

Before Hillary was losing, the notion of our disenfranchisement wasn't on the radar for her. So her sudden concern for us is hard to stomach. posted 03/24/2008 at 12:52:20
SARGE1--I live in Michigan and I couldn't agree MORE!!! But, our state democratic leaders (specifically Jennifer Granholm) should begin looking for other work...it's really the end of the line. posted 03/24/2008 at 12:15:14
vsign--This is quite the spin--I DO live in Michigan and Hillary's care and concern for the poor, disenfranchised voters has only arisen because she's losing. Barack Obama has said all along that he will follow the party's decision relative to re-do's. Apparently, anyone who is thinking that Michigan should be able to ignore what the DNC told it about moving the primary up to January and then whine about not having their delegates seated are behaving as errant teenagers who don't like consequences being imposed, even though they were well aware of rules long before infractions took place. It is really quite disgusting--the care and concern for Michigan's and Florida's voters now that the whining hasn't produced the results that they wanted. We ALL knew when we went to the polls that our delegates were not going to be seated...I am not angry with Barack Obama, John Edwards, or Hillary Clinton (although even though she agreed to "play by the decision of the DNC she decided not to have her name removed from the ballot.) I am first and foremost angry with the decision makers in Lansing, specifically Jennifer Granholm, a Clinton supporter for ignoring the DNC's warning. I am further angered by Hillary's "concern" about us now...where was she when she was willingly agreed to honor the DNC's decision? Did she already know the strategy for the game--IF she needed it because she was losing? It is all quite revolting.

Please understand that it is our state democratic leaders with whom I am outraged--all of this could have been avoided but they chose to do their own thing...break the rules first, then argue that you don't like the rules later. CHILDREN know better than that--why don't they? posted 03/24/2008 at 12:12:39

nylaw13--I am a Michigan resident and I voted in Michigan's primary. I TOO knew that my vote would not count and I agree wholeheartedly with you--we will never know how many voters just stayed home because they knew their votes wouldn't count. The decision made by Michigan's powers-that-be to ignore the DNC's decision and the advance notice of consequences is what it is...the decision. At this point, it is water under the bridge and to be decrying the disenfranchisement of the voters in these two states is disengenuous at best. So, Michigan's decision-makers (with governor Jennifer Granholm a Clinton supporter) just go ahead, flip off the DNC's decision, knowing full well they'll fight it later, and now it becomes the DNC's problem? No way...or worse yet...Barack Obama's problem?...even more outrageous.

Get a grip and stop acting like teenagers who don't like their parents' consequences, even though they knew what they would be LONG before breaking the rules... posted 03/24/2008 at 11:59:41

HE'S BACK: Bill Clinton's Campaign Remarks

RichLiberal--Again, with the use of the "Obama campaign" quick to smear our ex-president...how about if you acknowledge that the "smear" came from Bill Clinton's Air Force Chief of Staff, a Republican who is co-chair of the Obama campaign--not an underling who doesn't know any better. posted 03/25/2008 at 16:46:34
wyorange--so it's just a personality contest for you? It isn't as though the Democratic platform even vaguely resembles the Republican...John McCain's administration will ensure that the tax cuts for the rich will be extended permanently , the economy will continue to favor big business and NOT the plight of workers, there will be NO healthcare reform, and we will be in Iraq for 100 years. The two platforms are a universe apart...Please keep the ISSUES in mind in November. posted 03/23/2008 at 20:48:14
jrterrier--"Bill Clinton is the most beloved Democrat on the national stage...You continue to pound on him--unjustly at that--at your perl." Please, I was a staunch Clinton supporter, through thick and thin. The operative word? W-A-S The Clinton's have demonstrated time and again throughout this campaign that integrity and a sense of responsibility to the party mean absolutely nothing to them. Pound on poor Bill at our peril? Excuse me while I take a moment to laugh...He has long since lost the position of "the most beloved Democrat on the national stage." His legacy has been significantly tarnished by his shenanigans and those of his wife As a FORMER Clinton supporter, I can now understand more fully the intense, vehement dislike of these two politicians. Their ambition-at-all-cost is without equal... posted 03/23/2008 at 15:00:35
Bill Clinton's wish-for-the-year, "It would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country." is absolutely disgusting. With his statement, he clearly is insinuating that Barack Obama, one of the three candidates in this race, doesn't cross the patriotic threshold. For anyone who feels compelled to defend Mr. Bill, please don't bother. Neither Bill Clinton, nor his wife, make statements without considering the impact those statements will have upon voters. This is yet another example of the Clinton's unparalleled thirst for continuing the Clinton Dynasty and the unmitigated gall demonstrated by endorsing both the "experience" and the "patriotism" of the Republican candidate while blatantly ignoring the Democratic challenger. They have demonstrated time and again that in so doing they do not care one wit what damage is being done relative to the general election in November. Bill Clinton was the victim of these types of tactics apparently making him a master at employing them himself. It would seem that his experiences, being on the receiving end of these kinds of attacks, did nothing to establish a clear distaste for them. Sadly, he has shown us again, why so many voters have tired of politics. Rather than espousing his wife's virtues, he had to crawl under a rock and come out identifying the "strengths" of the Republican candidate, thinking that somehow the American voting block wouldn't be bright enough to notice...Mr. Bill, you are wrong, and your time has come and, unfortunately, gone. Please quit damaging the Democratic party by your escapades--either campaign for your wife with integrity or don't campaign at all. You've already done irreparable damage to your legacy--please reconsider future strategy before you do irreparable damage to our party. posted 03/23/2008 at 14:38:53
