Some Last-Minute Obama Thoughts, After Canvasing in PA

k8, initial polling after the debate had Obama having won it. Then the spin started. And unfortunately the traditional media are being told what is news. She has been so heart wrenchingly nasty and she's so brazen about it... She KNOWS her audience at this point and she's preying on them.

It's been amazing to me also that the HUGE rally in Philly got so little attention... To me, the pictures and the stories of that night look like the stuff in history books. What a beautiful moment we had as a nation to see that kind of enthusiasm for ANY candidate. The media just let it go by. Why???

My hope is that something is stirring in PA... Something that we outside their state lines have not been able to see due to the seemingly willful blackout of just how huge this movement for change is!
I'm hoping that the people are tired of being jerked around by the old guard... and they're not being fooled this time. posted 04/21/2008 at 15:37:55

"Slash-And-Burn" Vs. "The Kitchen Sink"

I've said this before, but... It's the opponents of Obama who say things like "Drink the Kool-Aid" and refer to Obama as St. Barack or "messiah".... We supporters know he's not perfect.... But it's those who hate him who have been drinking some kind of Kool-Aid.

They see the same things we Obama supporters see.... They see someone who is dfferent and sincere about at least TRYING to take the nation in a better direction.

The problem for the haters is, they can only see Obama thru their dark veils of cynicism and hate.

That's why the Republican party is full of people like Limbaugh and Rove... People just filled to their brims with negativity and hatefulness. I would ALSO call them UNPatriotic because they're the types to tear down the process for the their own personal gain, vote in primaries with the cynical plan of skewing an honest election.

We who believe in Barack's candidacy do so because we think differently... We HOPE, we care, AND we're patriotic because we see what American COULD be again. I MUCH rather be on THIS side.

The Win-At-At-Costs attitude has rubbed off on HIllary, making her just like a sleazy Republican.
She seems bitter and unhappy and shrill and sarcastic, completely phoney.. and just WRONG. posted 04/20/2008 at 23:36:25

It's astonishing though, how some people are actually going to parrot HER line about Obama being the one to do anything to win... When I hear people defend her behavior this past few months and then try to project her nastiness onto OBama, I'm just stunned that anyone can really believe that. We've been watching.

It's like we're watching two different shows here.... I think Hillary's is "The Twilight Zone". posted 04/20/2008 at 23:22:50

Clinton's Attacks on Obama Patriotism Have Nothing to Do With "What the Republicans Will Say in November" - Everything to Do with Her Own Strategy

LOL.. that's right! I liked IndeDave's answer too posted 04/21/2008 at 00:31:01
There are certain buzzwords that come up and when they do, you know you're dealing with someone who gets their information from talking points on AM radio or Fox News... or lately.. from Hillary's strategies. When people say "liberal, elite, tax and spend", etc... I realize right away that they are not capable of having a real discussion. It's just bothersome when the unthinking sheep seem to outnumber those of us who really understand the score. They're going to believe, and parrot, what they're told. posted 04/20/2008 at 23:56:59
He's in a no win situation that way...

If he got pissed off and fired back, he's accused of being negative and attacking.
If he shows how stately and unflappable he is, they try to apply the "wimp factor".

The bottom line is even his detractors see what brilliant possibilities are in this man. They just hate that he's not "their guy".

He's got class. They do NOT. posted 04/20/2008 at 23:54:35

All of the visits that the Clintons and surrogates have made to the likes of Rush LImbaugh and Fox News should be dealbreakers for ANY respectable Democrat.

And being endorsed by arch enemies SHOULD be a clue, for those who can see.

I can't see how ANYONE really watching and understanding could support them when it is SO clear what they are doing. Embracing the right wing... emulating the right wing... She's friggin' nuts... and I used to love her soooo much! posted 04/20/2008 at 23:47:28

You've obviously gotten your information from right wing talk radio or Fox News. Or listening to OTHER stupid people recite what they think they know. Anyone who's actually read, investigated or studied these candidates knows that Obama is NOT a fraudulent, empty suit...

But thanks for making it easier for us to separate the sheep from the thinking people. You just don't even realize how easy you make it for us. Try thinking for yourself. posted 04/20/2008 at 14:20:03

You've gotta be kidding me. He wasn't "whining" first of all, but I wouldn't expect some folks to be able to tell the difference. He reacted to being asked the same bullshit questions and having to play "gotcha games" for the first HOUR of the debate.

It seems to me that those who are able to process thought and do some serious investigating outside the corral of Fox News and AM radio come up with only one choice... Barack Obama.

The rest seem to be a mixture of things: Angry, bitter, jealous, hateful, negative in general, hopeless, dark.... maybe unloved...

I recently read that a liberal is just a conservative who's been hugged. I think Hillary's supporters need LOTS of hugs. They're acting just like the Republicans.... ;o) posted 04/20/2008 at 14:04:06

It was equivalent to Bush saying "No, no weapons of mass destruction under HERE!"

It's deplorable how those lies can stand unchallenged and even be joked about, while we're fed the same old crap about flag pins and pastors.

The sheep are willing though.... Until they CHOOSE to get educated and demand better.. they're gonna voting against their interests. posted 04/20/2008 at 13:52:36
My husband went by his middle name until his early 20's when he asked to be called "Miles" which is much more adult and distinguished than "Jay".

The labeling bye the rightwing (and now some of our own Dems) is just a lame attempt to label folks, denigrate them. and toss them aside.

If they actually had to face the content of what someone is saying, they might have to conclude that someone is right. Labeling and name calling is much easier for those who can't have a substantive conversation. posted 04/20/2008 at 13:49:07

My attempts to put this scene into words and make the correlation between this "Man in the Iron Mask" scene and Obama were sorta dismal, I think. Please forgive me.. It was my very first diary ever!!

Every moment in this scene is poignant and relevant for the time. Watch the faces of the people, watch the deep sighs of relief from the guards, watch the interaction between D'Artagnan and the angry (bitter) masses... What an ability to be able to speak both to the people and to the powers that be!

For everyone out there who supports Obama whole-heartedly, I ask that you watch this clip...and see if you see the same thing I do.

Hillary Clinton Slams MoveOn With Karl Rove's Lies

I agree COMPLETELY, Din... The real news is.. She has disgusted most of us who supported her initially. THAT'S a fact. We're supposed to continue to give her a pass on her lies and her shady alliances and continue to focus on Obama's flag pin. She's proven she's as craven as those cynical and UNPatriotic right wing nutjobs, but we're supposed to continue describe her and her tactics as though she's sweetness and light.

I find it interesting that the thoughtful, intelligent posts are by and large made by Obama supporters. The thinkers, the people who understand what is at stake, and the people who actually learn about their candidates seem to be Obama supporters. It's no wonder his detractors just don't "get" him. They're not equipped to. They're either happy with the idea that ignorance is bliss, or they're just grumpy, negative, cynical folks who couldn't see a good thing if it was standing right before them. posted 04/20/2008 at 01:45:07

Obama Criticizes Debate, Attacks Clinton For Being "In Her Element"

One of the things I've noted in these threads is how many anti-Obama folks refer to him as "Messiah" or "St. Barack". Aside from the corny name calling, I take away something bigger from their juvenile names and attacks. They actually see the SAME things we do in Barack...

They see that he's different...
They see that, definitely among the three candidates, he is the most sincere....
They see that he actually INSPIRES the electorate and that people... LOTS of people, for perhaps the first time ever, feel that they are a part of something that is hopeful and bright, some people are daring to dream that America can be great again.

I don't believe he's our "'messiah" and I don't believe he is flawless either.

The only difference between those of us who believe in Obama and those who don't is that they see him through their dark veils of cynicism and negativity. They still know the score, but they'll never quite 'get' it. posted 04/17/2008 at 16:59:48

I COMPLETELY agree!!

Joe Scarborough is KILLING me with the question about why John McCain is running neck and neck with the Dem candidates when the war is "supposedly" so unpopular. I think it's ridiculous for him to ask that question when ANYONE with half his brain working knows that it's simply because Dems haven't turn their cannons on McCain yet...He's out enjoying his little biography tour and getting a pass on his numerous gaffes... Once the Democrat candidate is chosen, watch out... McCain simply CAN'T win this election, especially not after listening to the Patraeus hearings today.

Scarborough is SUCH a negative drag at MSNBC. I love the poster's idea to put Rachel Maddow in a show before Keith... David Gregory is just making me sort of mad watching him as a host. He has no control when Joe is on... Because Joe is busy interrupting everyone on the panel to spread his brand of joy. LOL posted 04/08/2008 at 22:30:51
