US Planning Big New Prison In Afghanistan

Right you are... to feel "the fresh breeze of FREEDOM when LEAVING" is the major reason I try to get out of the U.S.A. and go to Europe every year. Bush has managed to make it almost too expensive to do this anymore, so the jail is closing down. It is what Ron Paul calls "soft Fascism". Only a few people here in the U.S.A. recognize that their freedom is slowly being taken away from them, but the majority are passive Sheep. Soon they will be more tightly herded, then sheared and then slaughtered -- which is what Sheep deserve. posted 05/17/2008 at 09:50:38

Conyers: 'We're Closing In On Rove'

Yes, but what will likely happen is that they will not be arrested, but will, after receiving some sort of "Medal of Freedom", either (1) get another parasitic job within the Beltway or (2) retire with a very substantial retirement income stolen from tax-payers, or (3) end up in one of the military-industrial outfits where they can make even more money and try to look even more important. They are clever, and they do know how to turn blood into money. However, I don't envy them -- imagine how their minds must be twisted into a suicidal knot in order that they can justify, in the name of "humanity" inhuman torture? Arresting them is too easy. They do not want to be arrested. They demand a greater punishment for their crimes -- a punishment they are now inflicting upon themselves, and one which will never end. I'm almost sorry for them -- almost. posted 05/15/2008 at 22:10:59

Conyers On Rove: "We'll Hold Him In Contempt"

It seems that whether or not Conyers has political guts is a matter of debate. Well, it cannot be debated that there is indeed ONE congressman with integrity and guts -- he's the one that keeps both Democratic and Republican time-servers from claiming complete majorities for every damn silly crowd-pleasing unconstitutional PC resolution that is passed. He is known as "Dr. NO" For this courage in defending the Constitution and individual freedom he has been ridiculed and ignored. Unexpected, he now has over one million people who have voted for him -- am I permitted to mention his name? Er, how about his initials? -- "R.P." posted 05/15/2008 at 22:30:26

Reclaiming Conservatism

Well, the neoconned Republican Party is in trouble? No kidding? I'm a registered Republican and I support Ron Paul. McCain, along with his disgusting "On to Iran" buddy, Lieberman, was not only pressed upon us by the present G.O.P., but they went out of their way to insult and to ignore Paul. They deserve to lose, and to lose big. Perhaps they will get in touch with what real conservatives want : the foreign and domestic policies of Ron Paul. Over one million voted for him, in spite of the shameless and persistent neocon bashing. We will not desert Ron Paul. posted 05/15/2008 at 19:25:18

Olbermann To Bush: "This War Is Not About You...Shut The Hell Up!"

I cannot but admire your bravery. Just as I cannot but admire the bravery of the German troops who died in the hopeless battle of Stalingrad. I support our troops. I do not support the war (I'm a Korean War Vet -- you remember, the U.N. "Police Action"?). Good soldiers are, as Plato had it, like trained dogs who attack or defend under the orders of a master. The dogs are not to be scorned if their master is mistaken in whom he sends them against. Of course, as you will probably say "We are not dogs". Well then, you must hold yourself to be human, and as such, responsible for your actions. posted 05/16/2008 at 12:33:54

Rebranding Republicans

Try not to confuse "conservative" Republicans with the "neoconned" collection of war-lusting, tax-collecting, money-printing crowd that slipped out of such miserable so-called "think tanks" as the Heritage Foundation. The people who support Ron Paul want their Party back. Their Party was stolen from them in the 1990s by these 7-piece suit types who had emerged out of the "Young Americans for Freedom" and other such anti-communist fronts, and then developed into simple flag-waving Nationalists at best, and Fascists at worst. We are now dealing with the worst -- those who have neither regard for the Constitution nor human rights. They have no objection to either illegal war or torture. Ah, and I haven't heard much from the liberals either --Diana Feinstein and Chuck Schummer both think that water-boarding is just dandy, and the Dems have been very supportive of the war (our own Congressman, Joe Sestak - D-7) has already voted 2 times to support Bush's war, and he had the gall to run on an anti-war platform! Go figure -- posted 05/14/2008 at 10:25:47

McCain Still Failing To Close With GOP Voters

I'm a registered Republican, and I voted for Bush in 2004 (I apologize). Anyhow, we suddenly found our own Party was totally neoconned. Off to war, into debt, and a Nanny state complete with Nazi-style alphabet-soup enforcers. So, what does the good old G.O.P. come up with in 2008? The "comeback kid" (the comeback following his endorsement of Lieberman) McCain. Upon that, Ron Paul suddenly found himself the butt of jokes and then was silenced by his own Party. Now, do the Republican "leadership" really think that I, and a few more like me, would vote for that silly war-hungry torture advocate and his string-puller Lieberman? I have an indelible memory of once, during a debate, when Paul was given a bit of time to present his viewpoint, the T.V. camera lingered lovingly over the sniggering face of McCain. posted 05/13/2008 at 09:22:36

Bush In Israel: Standing With One Side

Yes, you are quite right. I do hope you have considered Ron Paul's policies in regard to Israel... unhappily, his views, which are akin to yours, are unlike those of Hillary, Obama, and McCain, all who fully agree with the warlike policies of the Lukid and AIPAC folk. Has Paul been ignored by the media? Yes. And frankly, for all to many people the answer is all too simple -- American Zionists not only control American foreign policy but the American media as well. Our present policy of total alignment with Israel's foreign/domestic policy is not merely harmful to Israel, but has generated the belief, among far too many Americans, that our present war in the Middle East, and the projected war against Iran is nothing less than a war being created for the benefit of Israel and Israel alone. Support Israel? of course. But we might also keep in mind that it has the resources to protect itself. Its time for Uncle Sam to come home and let Israel take care of its own problems -- which are many. posted 05/13/2008 at 14:44:15

Skyrocketing Energy Prices

Why, we just know that Carl and his ilk will never resign, they can't resign, as they live off our taxes. So, it is no wonder that his idea to solve a problem (any problem, here being oil costs) is simply to raise taxes. Now, the great herd of American Sheep think that's a great idea because Carl (whose always assures us that heart is with the poor folk) tells them that he will punish the "rich guys", and like Robin Hood of yore, he will give the money to the poor. However, when the rich guy's company goes bankrupt and the poor folk are unemployed and become even poorer, the Sheep will once again turn to Carl for a solution -- which will be (you guessed it!) more "taxes". For Carl a win-win situation which will go on for the rest of his fat-cat tax-fed life. Ugh. Oh, and what of the "poor folk"? Well, as Dick Cheney has so eloquently phrased it: "So?" posted 05/12/2008 at 20:03:24

How John McCain Can Rescue the Republican Party

Grumble, grumble about McCain....getting tedious. Yes, a nasty fellow indeed. And quite rightly, all good Huffposters are always taking pot shots at him. I don't like him either. However, what is curious here is that the Huffpost folks are also set against Ron Paul, despite the fact that he, and he alone is the ONLY surviving Republican candidate to stand up to McCain. The Huckabees, Rommneites, etc. are all eager to hand over their delegates to McCain. Only Paul has refused to endorse this war-hungry bird. Inflammatory Committee Terror Report Helps McCain/Lieberman Target Obama

Poor Republicans (I'm one) now being told that we are to simply go out and vote for that creepy McCain (who comes pre-packaged with his "On to Iran" string-puller, Lieberman). That thought is disturbing to say the least. So, I'll defy orders and vote for Ron Paul -- a real "Maverick" -- imagine what he proposes! -- the exact opposite of that so-called Republican McCain and his cronies: a smaller and less intrusive government, an immediate withdrawal from foreign wars and bases, and a government based upon the Constitution of the nation. He is also not into torturing people. Ah, and as for Obama, well, not quite as clear as he might be about either the war, or taxes, or individual freedom -- Oh, yeh, we know he gives "feel good" talks, and is definitely for all sort of "good things" -- whatever he might think them to be. There is a lesson to be learned from "The Thirty Year War" (1618-48). After a while, the bloody minded "my way or the highway" folk found that the good (their way of worship) they expected from a war against the "other" way of worship, exhausted them in both body and spirit. The "Peace of Westphalia" resulted. This took a bit of time -- in this case thirty years. In the present, Uncle Sam, always the clumsy and intrusive missionary do-gooder, is supporting the status quo in Myanmar. To send food to Myanmar is simply to enable the military dictatorship to continue on. Perhaps it is best to let them be, and if they choose to allow their own people (such as happened in Cambodia) to die in order to insure their continued rule, then it will happen -- as long as their people allow it. This might well go on for thirty years. The European Christians learned the "hard way" and the "Thirty Years War" taught them a religious lesson: let the religious folk do their own thing, but keep out of politics. We call it the "separation of church and state." It has served us well -- so far. Still, as Hegel observed, "The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history". posted 05/09/2008 at 20:37:50

Well, if the posters feel so upset about McLieberman, why is it that the name of the one major Republican candidate who has, and still opposes McLieberman seldom mentioned? The McCain Republicans must be delighted with all this -- HuffPost shares their own attitude, i.e., One must either ridicule or ignore Ron Paul. Keep it up. As to the G.O.P., when it did not ignore Paul, it set itself against him. This will be remembered. Paul's supporters will either write in for him or vote for whomever he recommends. It was unfortunate that Theodor Herzl, in 1897, promoted Zionism with the slogan that "Palestine was a land without people and the Jews are a people without land". But given their history, persecuted for centuries in every nation of Europe, Herzel seemed to have a good idea -- and the Nazis came on scene shortly thereafter. Now, I'm a Roman Catholic, but were I Jewish, I would be natural to do whatever I could to see that the United States supported Israel (Irish would do the same thing if Ireland were threated by England). But the Palestinians were also forming their nation at the time that Zionists were moving in. They naturally rejected this foreign intrusion -- I would if I were a Palestinian. Is there a solution? How about this: there are 3million Jews in Israel, why not ask them to come to the United States? (Hell, we have more than that in "Illegal aliens"). Zionism was not all that popular among the Jewish people in Herzl's time. After all, would a Jewish European want to move to a dusty foreign place, among a resentful people not of their culture? Hardly. Oh, yes, pay a visit the "old country" now and then, but no need to live there. Why not let the Palestinians take back their land? The Jews who come to the United States would further add to the great things that the Jewish people here have always done -- charity, arts, and yes -- I loved Phil posted 05/08/2008 at 22:32:12

Israel at 60: A Gift That Keeps on Giving

Well, no need to fuss about Israel. AIPAC and the Christian Zionists will have their way whether or not Obama or McCain are elected. Both boys dutifully attended the AIPAC/HAGEE love-fest last year and vowed their full support for Israel, along with their willingness to wipe Iran off the map if the Persians get too uppity. Unhappily for him, Ron Paul not only did not attend the pep rally, but even had the temerity to say that he would end our involvement (financially as well as militarily) in the whole of the Middle East. He simply believes that we can be friendly with Israel, and it can defend itself (plenty of nukes). He has more confidence in Israel than AIPAC. posted 05/09/2008 at 09:14:37

McCain 100 Years Ad Appears To Have Worked

Now, demigod, haven't you yet learned that any criticism of Israeli foreign or domestic policy will gain you nothing but being labeled "antisemitic"? After all, consider this: every one of our Presidential candidates (with one exception, but he has been successfully blocked out of the media) have pledged their (our?) total support and love of Israeli, and even Hillary has warned Iran (our latest Mideast enemy) that it faces "total obliteration" if it dare touch our good ally. 65 millions Iranians will pay the price. Another major candidate, McCain, is even now being guided by the wise counsel of Lieberman in regard to dealing with those terribly dangerous Iranians. His response to them might even make Hillary's rather mild in comparison -- we all know that there are many, many other terrorist nations out there who hate Israel and might have to be bombed out of existence in order to show them we want peace. As to Obama it has been suggested that he might be a covert Muslim. Still, he has declared that Israel and America will remain allies forever and ever. Well, in any case it will be "forever and ever" -- as an endless and constant series of bloody religious wars have infected that region for thousands of years (see the Book of Joshua for a bit of that bloody history). McCain's pledge to have our troops there for the next 100 years sounds quite in order. posted 05/03/2008 at 10:52:41

At least he has something substantive to present as a political option, and not merely the "He said - she said" of the Obama-Hillary squabble as well as the grinning McCain and his puppet-master Lieberman. Indeed, to say that we might bear some of the blame for our obstreperous and bloody bungling in the Middle East might be heard out. The first time it was mentioned by Paul it was greeted with hooting and the self-righteous snarls of "America's Mayor" (Remember him?). Clinton Threatens to 'Obliterate' Iran

Well, perhaps its time to get out of these alphabet soup affairs, such as CENTO. Why can't Israel take care of itself -- it has 300 or so nukes? What has Israel ever done for us -- is it our "ally" -- hey, that's a two way street. Do we need them? I know that their spies have been active in the U.S., and that they did sink the U.S.S. Liberty without any provocation. I know they have rejected all efforts to remove themselves from the occupied territories, and that they have been active in starving the people of Gaza... but hey, that should be their business, and they should take whatever comes of it. Why should we protect them? My family and my nation is more precious to me than any mickey mouse settlement in the Middle East. Hey! Something in Huffpost about Ron Paul! I thought that, in reading the blogs that we had only three choices for our new "Leader": (1) a crazed war-hungry McCain prepackaged with that "On to Iran" Zionist Lieberman, (2) another round of Hillbillys in the White House, (3) or a fellow who gets a lot of media noise but no one knows quite anything about except he is devoted to "change" (of what nature is left unclear). Ron Paul? Who's Ron Paul? You mean he is actually a candidate? That he wants us out of Iraq NOW? That he he wants a nation based upon its actual Constitution and not upon the dictates of such as Bush, Cheney, or the neocons? That he wants actual money based upon something more than the promises, paper, and the printing press of the Federal Reserve? Are you crazy? Vote for (1), (2), or (3). Quite right... but ONLY if we continue to meddle in their world. There is nothing but blood in that cesspool in and around Israel. It's long past time for Uncle Sam to come home and to protect his own family. Time to stop the stupid and impotent idealism of "Making the world safe for Democracy", of supporting nations that can well support themselves. John McCain, Charles Grassley Physical Altercation Confirmed By Washington Post

It wasn't at all a accident that "all their other candidates crashed and burned". Remember that McCain miraculously became the "Comeback Kid" in late December '07 when he announced that Lieberman would be a good V.P. This is just want our neocon leaders wanted -- a war-hungry candidate (McCain) who would be easily steered into a war with Iran by a Zionist V.P. A marriage made in Hell. The "other" candidates slowly vanished. Well, I still support the only Republican with enough guts and integrity to stand up to these bullies. Name, if you haven't heard it lately from the media is "Ron Paul". For his honesty, and refusal to bow down and pay homage to AIPC, Paul has been ridiculed and ignored by the controlled media. As the neoconned American Sheep have always followed what that media tells them to do, they will elect McCain President. Prepare for a war with Iran. Mainstream Media Mainlining

Blog sites, such as Huffpost, have already proven to be a growing alternative to T.V. news. They offer a diversity of viewpoints and, just as important, almost all allow for a dialogue. The growing reliance of the T.V. news shows to feature emails and their own websits indicate their recognition of a serious rival. Dialogue, such as our comments, will soon replace the dictatorial monologue of the talking heads and their masters. Unless, and it can happen, Uncle Sam decides (under lobby pressure) to "regulate" the internet, there will be freedom of discussion. Isn't it possible to equate "intelligent design" to the inherent logic of the universe? Need there be exclusive recourse to an external designer or to an immanent logic? What is made logically works according to its nature. Its activity is not random or chance activity. Darwinian evolution is not the expression of chaotic or random events, were that so there could be no "Darwinian theory"-- which seeks a logic to the events. All theoretical speculation rests upon the presupposition that contingency is grounded in necessity, in other words, chance events are only "chance events" because they are not essential to necessity -- that before one can have an "accident" there must be a logical basis upon which it rests. Two cars, each intending to proceed in a straight line, can, by chance (an unintended event) be deflected from that line, but that t is not a matter of "chance". They "act" as cars (subject to physical laws). If you wish to call God the "maker", fine. But what he has made acts according to its own logic (just as once anything is made it follows its own inner rules -- one cannot make a table which cannot support anything, that's illogical... and were in made it would not be a "table". Expectedly, the "debate" was the usual clutter of superficial fluff that we have been hearing since the end of last year. That way there would soon be no more poor people! Of course, humanitarian love should find reason to do so, as the imposition of a regulated economy (a.k.a. Socialism) must ignore the complaints of those capitalists who take money from the poor by not paying them "enough". Sorry to say, that some see our compassionate snake-oil Senators as giving nothing but an endless amount of hot-air, war and debt. Seems nothing more than a national protection racket -- you know, pay your protection money (taxes) or be beat up (go to jail).

Ah, a final point regarding "Economic Stimulus" -- why send out a miserable $1,200 to a married couple? Why not $1,200,000? Now that would be a stimulus! Oh, alright, you compassionate folk, go ahead and pop in another million for the farm workers (legal or not). Of course, he always has a reason for these drunken fights, such as "I'm helping others come to their senses and to become democratic and love freedom ... etc. etc." . Well folks, eventually he will run out of money and be so beaten up by those who resent his "good intentions" that he might (hopefully) "bottom out". Or, not then choosing to recover, he will finally end up like every addict in denial: dead, insane or in prison. Hey, you know that New York (as the rest of America) has been, from the beginning, filled with political/religious refugees. Grow up, forget the old country. Become and American by free choice. Anyone here NOT a refugee? I'll not go to war to "free" Iran (see what happened to Iraq?) posted 03/31/2008 at 08:30:37

McCain Recycles 2001 Pro-War Column For 2008 Speech

If the Democrats making comments are upset about McCain, imagine how many authentic Republicans feel? The present neoconned G.O.P. presents us with a war-hungry power-hungry candidate (who comes pre-packaged with a slimy Lieberman) and then goes out of its way to smear and ignore the one reasonable candidate they have, Ron Paul. Am I supposed to vote for McCain? Talk about Carville and his "Judas" remark concerning Richardson -- the neoconned Republicans deserve the same term. posted 03/26/2008 at 16:13:21

Who Gets Us Out of the Mess?

"Who gets us out of this mess?" -- Hillary will print up a zillion dollars and hand it out to everyone. Obama will take zillions from the rich and give to the poor (where have I heard that before?). McCain will distract us from economics by starting more wars. Who? who else but Ron Paul? Time to start thinking out of the media "envelope". posted 03/26/2008 at 16:18:56

Voting For McCain Makes People Angry, Depressed According To Crazy New Study

If you vote for the other Republican candidate, Ron Paul, you will feel happy and confidant. posted 03/25/2008 at 19:25:37

Sen. Clinton, You Want Who To Fix Our Economic Mess?

Quite a while back, Ron Paul noted that the Federal Reserve was screwing up the economy and we should start thinking about abolishing it. Result? -- media talking heads convulsed with laughter at "Dr. Loony". Now we are getting into real economic trouble. Here we go -- Hillary's solution: print up more cash, hand it out to everyone; Obama: rob the rich and hand it out to everyone (except the rich); McCain: more war will keep the economy on the rise, so on to Iran!.

A McCain Moment: Do You Want Four More Years of This?

The poet Schiller noted, perhaps having the American public in mind, that "Against ignorance even the gods are helpless". But for a bit of sublime ignorance, consider the spectacular display of stupidity that has been manifested by the Republican National Committee. They not only selected McCain to be their candidate but went out of their way to antagonize a significant group within their Party, the non-neoconned Republicans known as "Paulites". I'm a registered Republican, and I will not vote for that war-hungry lobby-fed McCain (who seems to come pre-packaged with Lieberman). We might be in for a surprise at the Republican Convention. posted 03/24/2008 at 22:59:47

Just Another "McCain Moment"

Well, since the neoconned Republican "leadership" took it into their collective heads to ignore, scorn, and ridicule their only reasonable candidate, Ron Paul, and elevate war-hungry McCain (who comes pre-packaged with his pal Lieberman) they deserve to lose the election. I'm a registered Republican. I will be voting for Ron Paul and his delegates in the upcoming PA primary. Where the hell did they find McCain? A lobby-fed liberal, totally ignorant of economic policy, with a temper problem who courts Democrats and every war-fixated neocon he can find? Awk! A "senior moment"? Hardly, it's a McCain moment. posted 03/24/2008 at 08:10:25
