As a former vegan, I've been around plenty of sick and less than healthy vegetarians. Compared to the way a lot of Americans eat, yes it certainly helps to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. But do you have to be a vegetarian to achieve optimum health. Hell no! The most important factor related to diet is eating WHOLE, unrefined foods vegetable and animal. Of course then you get into other factors like exercise, smoking and stress.The fact is if you take a traditional fish eating population with no access to refined foods and compare it to a random sampling of American vegetarians I'll wager that the traditional fish eaters are somewhat healthier. I can certainly relate to what you are saying. On the other hand some really good people I know are Republicans or even hold reactionary views. There are a lot of reasons for this. One is that they just don't pay a lot of attention to what's really going on politically. Another is its just easier for them to latch on to what their parents/ spouse/ friends believe. That's when I think i can at least get someone to think. I never give up talking to others if they are receptive or maybe bring up some bogus arguments (which is often) That's the same reason I have an Obama sticker on my car. 8 Health Myths Exposed

My two cents:
1. Water intake needed is based on activity level and temperature. Simply put, the more physically active you are and the hotter it is- the more water you need. Common sense.
2.Eating WHOLE foods may not absolutely prevent cancer, but it's like wearing seat belts. It will certainly INCREASE your odds in avoiding cancer.
3.There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that you can REDUCE acne by cutting down on junk food. And yes there is such a thing as JUNK FOOD!
4. You don't need to do anything exotic or expensive to keep your system "clean." Just Increase your intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Go lightly on proteins. Sweat everyday (again physical activity) and you will notice that feeling good IS our natural state.

I'm so tired of all this Clinton bashing. She clearly is the most honest and electable candidate for president out there. Her intentions are always honorable and her only thoughts are about what is best for this country. Senator Clinton is no fool. She would not still be in the race on this day April 1st if she thought she couldn't win the presidency by honest means while also keeping the Democratic party united. After all, why would most of the people in this USA love and respect Hillary if she was anything less than what her campaign website tells us she is?
