The ABC Debate: A Shameful Night for the U.S. Media

It seems like 99% of the chatter online and in the media preceeding the debate was reflected in the "debate" last night so what is everybody bitching about? The only difference was the candidates making the news were asked what were they thinking when they did what they did. I don't have a problem with that. Obama objected more than Clinton to the line of questioning. Did he have more to be embarrassed about? Clinton cooly admitted to gaffes as she should have and showed some class in doing so. They must have scared the hell out of her before they landed in Bosnia and it may have been imprinted in her mind that it really turned out that way. No excuse mind you but war is hell, especially for one who is not prepared in any way for it and I mean minutes before landing. Anyway, they both got some training last night for what's coming down the line in November. posted 04/18/2008 at 00:00:37

The Obama Campaign: Consent of, or Contempt for, the People

The Clintons didn't say it. Obama did. Admittedly a slip of the tongue. posted 04/16/2008 at 18:15:49

Exceptional Courage: Michael Monsoor

Don't forget to also honor his parents. They did one helluva job raising this fine soldier. posted 04/14/2008 at 22:34:22

Thomas Frank On Obama: Not That Controversial

Bitter was too strong a word to be used in this context. And to suggest that loss of jobs and the local state of economy would cause bitterness such that one would seek comfort in guns and religion is demeaning. If that were the case one would think that religion played a bigger role in the workplace and it doesn't. God is not in the business of creating jobs. However, local churches could be involved in retrenchment programs that might attract and serve parishioners. Hug guns? Low blow. posted 04/15/2008 at 11:11:34

Who's Really Out of Touch Here?

Matthews Said Bush Showed "Guts" At Baseball Game

You forgot one adjective: RUDE! His shows are laced with incidences of interruptions. He has a few good moments but he certainly comes off as annoying as hell for the most part. posted 03/31/2008 at 19:55:40

Hagel: 'Arrogance, Incompetence' Fuel Bush's Run To War

Hagel has been speaking out against the war for a few years now. Where the hell have you been? He's one of the few Republicans that have done so. The only reason the post invasion war votes have gone Bush's way is because nobody is willing to cut off funds for the troops. We're caught between a rock and a hard place. posted 03/30/2008 at 23:35:16

Should Obama Drop Out of the Race?

You sound like you give up too easily. This race should be about issues, not whether one should give up and go home. Don't look surprised but you have caved in to the MSM. posted 03/31/2008 at 22:33:36

Rice: Race Still Issue Because Of U.S. "Birth Defect"

Rice is about 75% correct on her commentary of race. What she mgiht have said to make it complete is to say that both blacks and whites must give more than they receive. That way there would be an abundance of good will. Include the yellows and the browns and this world would be overflowing with good will. Goodness will betget goodness. We must make it happen.
As to her comments on the middle east issues, hindsight is 20/20. Someone said before the invasion, " You break it, you fix it". How prophetic. posted 03/29/2008 at 11:46:03

The New York Times on Obama and Deval -- Assume Nothing, Question Everything

.."..Obama has spent much of his public career as a legislator.gaining experience..." Could someone out there explain why when he was assigned the position of Chairman of Senate Sub-Committee on European Affairs he did not convene one meeting? Is this an example of gaining experience? This was a leadership position. However, I did see one post crediting Obama with ~850 pcs of legislation, sponsoring or co-sponsoring, to the tune of 1 per 3.5days in the Illinois State Senate. His credits for legislation while in the US Senate is even more impressive. This dude is awsome. posted 03/29/2008 at 12:12:56

Smears and Tears: How Obama's National Security Week Turned Into the Mendacity of Hype

Unfortunately he made those pronouncements in a public forum with the intent to infuence if not to incite the audience. The audience was his flock. Having said that I will admit I sympathize with him and his commentary. The racial divide is immoral and this country has to face it, now, not later or whenever it is convenient. Now is the time. posted 03/26/2008 at 14:22:59

Hillary's Diversionary Tactic Is Feeding The GOP Noise Machine

In what context did she make her comments about the Reverend Wright's "outburst". Was responding to a question? Or was she setting the record straight since she had not commented on it immediately after the incident like everybody else did. Did she react to public pressure? Her comments certainly did not appear negative in my view. Facts are facts and if your sensitized to "it" you're going to react sympathetically one way or the other. We've come a long way but we have miles to go. posted 03/26/2008 at 11:43:54

My Take

He gave a great speech but he didn't answer the question of the moment: Why did he sit for 20 years in the same church that spoke so harshly of his own country? He chose to sit there and absorb the incendiary sermons without exercising his judgement that such sermons are inciteful and most certainly harmful to vulnerable attendees. He could have exercised leadership and confronted Reverend Wright seeking a more calm intelligent dialog. His wife was exposed to the same sermons and that is where she may have developed missgivings about her country such that she became embarassed of America. After some successes were enjoyed by the Obama campaign she felt "proud to be an American for the first time". Imagine how young impressionable aged attendees feel. His speech gave one message but his actions have not. posted 03/23/2008 at 23:43:48

A Few Unanswered Questions About Bill Richardson's Obama Endorsement

That's how some of the people want it, winner takes all. But, I think the superdelegate system was installed to counter shennanigans such as where one party would encourage their members to vote for the opposition party candidate that would be most beatable thereby skewing the primary results. The superdelegates roll was intended for them to exersize their independent accumulated judgement as to who in their party would have the best chance to win the general election. Otherwise why have the system in place? It looks like this year's Democratic Primary will test this system the core. posted 03/22/2008 at 13:13:57
