Bush Claims Executive Privilege In Valerie Plame Leak

Mukasey as AG is almost as laughable as Alberto Gonzales; he may yet turn out to be far worse.

The claim that this request might hinder future DOJ investigations is as disingenuous as W's claim of executive privilege. The simple fact is that the DOJ has been stacked with Bush loyalists, not unlike Mukasey himself, who have done much to undermine the process of trying to unearth the evidence on this issue and others (e.g., US Attorney/DOJ firings, Don Siegelman, etc.). The DOJ no longer has as its central function the search for justice and holding those responsible for its miscarriage accountable. It exists in its current form only to cover this administrations ass and create a subterfuge. It has become the poster child for government corruption, only they are responsible for making those posters.

And Mukasey is complicit. posted 07/16/2008 at 14:07:01

What he fails to mention is that it took us (them) a while to get here... by design. These ridiculous oil prices are built more on speculation and manipulation than on supply and demand. The oil companies and investors (e.g., Bush and his cronies) have W to thank for oil's last, great hurrah.

Why would he harp on the perceived "love-fest" between Clinton and Obama when McCain has so willingly jumped back into the Republican fold, and George W. Bush's warm embrace, after the 2000 election? John Bolton Says 'Best' Possible Outcome Of Obama Presidency Is 'More Bombings, More Attacks'

Do not confuse rational rebuttal with fear mongering. The two are, in fact, mutually exclusive.

Otherwise, perhaps you might have shown us the rationale in arguing a hypothetical? The facts are what they, but be my guest and argue the hypothetical if you will. It won't change the reality of the current state of terrorism activity around the world, and the fact that Osama bin Laden still controls much of that.

Another point of fact, in stark contrast to Gibson's claim of Obama offering nothing new; Obama has said he would go after bin Laden with or without Pakistan's consent. Add to the the return to a policy of direct (i.e., forceful) diplomacy and, lo and behold, you do have something very different from the failures of the last seven years. Jon Stewart Mocks Media For Peddling Insane Obama Rumors

I agree with everything you say. What is disheartening is that we have individuals within the Democratic party who refuse to see this. It's easy to call out the Republican, right leaning media (especially when Hannity proclaims himself a surrogate of the right and its nominee), but the entire MSM is broken. Matthews and others on the left have been less than objective, helped to spread memes, and are just as easy to find fault with. But the ultimate travesty was having a serious candidate who refused to see the double standard and pushed their own meme to further their cause.

With all of the above, it is truly amazing that Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee. Anyone who believes racism has not played a huge role in this election is deluded. posted 06/17/2008 at 18:05:08

He may be full of bluster, but he's right. Why do the facts not matter to these people? No one in these articles (save Sklar, who was a Clinton apologist) is backing up the stories of the people Olbermann is ripping.

Perhaps if the MSM as a whole was doing its job, Keith Olbermann wouldn't have to scream so loudly. Katie Couric has rarely had her facts straight nor done a credible job on CBS News. This is fairly widely acknowledged. CBS is even talking about outsourcing their news division. So, Couric goes out and makes a last ditch attempt at relevance, Olbermann overreacts to her poorly researched and cited references... and bears the brunt of it. Olbermann must have expected such a reaction. But at least he's being honest; not as much can be said for the vast majority of the MSM, including those ripping him now. posted 06/12/2008 at 20:15:26

"The significance of Drudge is that he does like to break news... And that sometimes leads to rushed journalism... or sometimes [journalism that is] incomplete, inaccurate, perhaps not as detailed as it should be, lacking a certain nuance."

An excellent point, Phil. What you failed to mention was that this rushed journalism was happening in the MSM prior to Drudge, and said MSM has been all too willing to match his site headline for headline. Matt Drudge did not invent headlines, deadlines, or bottom lines for that matter. The Corporate media has had these for a little while now. Moreover Fox News, let us not forget, is the "news" outlet that the Clinton Campaign hailed as the most unbiased this election season.
