Congress Approves Housing Rescue Bill

Here, we'll bail you out. Will that be on your Visa, or Massah Card?

Chimp Steals Gun From Zookeeper In Japan

Evolution in action, isn't it beautiful?
Chimp must be a DNC member though.
He had the initiative and gave it back for a token compromise. posted 07/23/2008 at 19:28:27

Study: The Effects Of Serotonin On Spirituality

Drugs, whether natural or not, do not translate to a 'spiritual' experience. They simply translate to an altered, perhaps euphoric, mental state.

Religion and spiritualism is the rather primitive tendency to ascribe those feelings to exterior, non-existent deities. posted 07/23/2008 at 19:41:34

Ashley Dupre Reportedly In Talks To Be "Next Tila Tequila"

Hey, the useless bimbo's gotta do something now that her entrepreneurial lawsuit against Girls Gone Wild tanked.

She's still hot, but I think her mom might be hotter.
Of course, I suspect neither has a job other than working on their tan, flirting with the personal trainer, and spending 'daddy's' money.

Which leads me to conclude that $4,500/hour is probably a better deal than trophy wife overhead. posted 07/09/2008 at 14:46:13

Lax Real Estate Decisions Hurt Starbucks

Yeah, well, everyone can snark at Starbucks. But in airports, they still own your ass.

And the Starbucks pricing model has now moved on to soda. Red Bull, anyone? posted 07/04/2008 at 14:18:35

Ted Kennedy To Lead Renewed Universal Health Care Effort

Because Obama was soooo fashionable, and the Hillary haters accused her of negative campaigning every time she tried to advance any debate whatsoever. And they Obamaphiliacs swooned every time he repeated his Audacity of Hope stock speech (I saw it live, and it was good, albeit thoroughly empty of substance.)

Now the DNC is stuck with Mr. Spineless.

Thank God there are a few real fighters left in Congress, and Kennedy's one of them.
Maybe they can give Mr. Transformative Politics at notochord transplant. posted 07/03/2008 at 20:22:00

$4 Gasoline at the Aspen Ideas Festival

Environmental intrasigence....whoa, as Lewis Black would say :"How can one get so delusional?"

Anyone who thinks Amerikkan oil companies aren't drilling where they want, when they want (except for the tiny 1002 coastal plain in ANWR), needs to get out more. Most potential oil reserves in the continental U.S. are being drilled in the quickest, most careless, gold rush fashion imaginable.

And anyone who thinks the skyrocketing price of crude is due to world demand is a fool. Most of these gigantic, ultra-swift price increases are due to intentionally restricted supply, multiple layers of parasitic futures traders, and intentionally mothballed refineries that create a strategic bottleneck in the supply of refined gasoline. This grotesquely irresponsible, short-sighted corporate strategy is creating multi-billion-dollar windfalls for some of most non-innovative industries in history. And just wait until next winter, when heating oil goes through the roof.

And knee-jerkers think it's because of environmentalists.
Yeah, right.

Ten years down the line, this same corporate crowd will be pursuing the same strategy with privatized water supplies. They're already laying the foundation for that transition. posted 07/03/2008 at 19:24:20

Brinkley Trial Begins: $3,000 A Month On Porn, Ex Details Affair

Well, a lot of women clearly hate men in general and their husbands in particular, as all this gender rah-rah illustrates.

And yes, there are men that feel the same way. (Visit an oil camp sometime. It's scary.)

But consider the following general prejudice: A man who has an affair is scum. A woman who has an affair is just finding herself, learning to overcome the fear of flying, as it were, probably just responding to the emotional emptiness of her husband. And 'guys do it all the time' (right girls?).

Cristy Brinkley must, of course, be sexy and awesome because she looks so good on airbrushed covers and has a successful career (on genetic luck alone, I might note). Then again, maybe she's a raging bitch with a mommy complex who considers the current husband just another line successfully crossed off her yellow pad life-list. Maybe she doesn't give a damn about sex (In my limited personal experience, many hot women don't, since it's the easiest commodity in their lives.) We certainly won't find any truth on this marriage in a courthouse dual between highly paid divorce lawyers.

But it's worth noting that no men's TV channel has a show anything like "Snapped", those half-hour case histories of women murdering their husbands (and rivals) that run back-to-back for hours every day.
That depth of hatred makes simple porn, and affairs, and prostitution, seem rather well-adjusted. posted 07/03/2008 at 20:44:57

What Obama Can Learn From Bubba

The darkly amusing thing is that Democratic activists ever saw Obama as a progressive leftist. He was always, position-wise, the most conservative and accomodationist of the three Democratic frontrunners.

Here's hoping he chooses a VP and cabinet with notochords. We're going to need some spines to buttress his lack of vertebrae. Thus far, he's been far more 'triangulting' than any Clinton.

And, by some, it's still considered heresy to question him. And yes, that's still wierd. posted 07/02/2008 at 16:28:45

Adultolesence: The Difference Between Men Who Won't Grow Up And Men Who Just Wanna Have Fun

While Amanda 85 sounds a little bolshevik (not that there's anything wrong with that), it's also worth noting that executive-level jobs often contractually require a lack of moral integrity. It's called 'fiduciary duty.' posted 07/03/2008 at 17:05:33
There's no particularly good reason to 'grow up,' especially in this age, where der Korporation will evaporate your job in a nanosecond, regardeless of performance ratings, just to protect the executive inner circle. Sure, you don't want to max out credit cards, but to all you folks who slaved for straight A's, clawed through the cubicle culture to "VP" status, and bought into the big house, big car, endless kids thing: How happy are you?

Me? I quit college, became a ski bum, worked in outdoor retail jobs and went on climbing expeditions. The only course I ever flunked in college was Writing 101, because it was hugely boring . Now I'm an outdoor photojournalist traveling 9 months a year and getting paid well to do trips y'all have to shell out huge for - if you can get the week off. In 25 years of continual employment, I've never even been asked for a resume.

Granted, I've disappointed several women who were seeking to retire early and raise a litter of kids in between tennis and equitation lessons, but that was always their problem.

Tip tho: Cut up the credit cards, except for your Amex. And read your bank statements; They matter.
Second tip: Avoid American girls, especially ambitious exec types, and any chick who has ever lived in a ski town.
Third tip: Brazilian, Thai, Phillipino, and Romanian girls rock. Smart. Cute. And not hung up on commitment.

Stephanie Kuleba, High School Cheerleader, Dies From Breast Implant Complications

YAWN. Cheerleader dies of general anesthesia complications, not 'breast implant' complications. She didn't even have any implants. She was in the process of getting them when the anesthesia went south.

Unfortunately, general anesthesia is always a significantly risky proceedure, whether it's for boob jobs or hernia surgery.

Classic case of deceptive headlining. posted 03/25/2008 at 17:54:00

"Obama's Test" or Ours?

Not a 'left-right' election, but a 'future-past' election?!?!?
What mealy-mouthed crap.

And it comes from such an august source as Gary Hart, who utterly, totally wasted his opportunity in American politics by partying with bimbos aboard his yacht, rather foolishly christened the "Monkey Business."

There's also the post-election business of governing, which will be a very much left-vs-right process...in case Mr. Hart forgets. If Hillary, or Obama, wins the White House, as is probable, Congress and the Washington establishment will not just roll over and buy in to whatever progressive agenda is set forth.

Obama a candidate 'of the future'?
Perhaps, though I'm still waiting for any evidence.
But forgive me if I don't automatically swallow Mr. Hart's advice, on such hazy, pseudointellectual logic. posted 03/25/2008 at 17:42:27
